When we arrived at the house, I didn’t waste a minute and imdiately threw myself on the bed. My headache was getting worse, and I needed to sleep it off. Hopefully, it would disappear by the ti I woke up.

I slept for about three hours, and when I woke up, my headache had dramatically reduced.

Let get so milk, I thought. I walked out of my room and requested a cup of milk.

"Please bring it to the dining room," I told the maid before leaving. I went to the dining room and was shocked to find Ruby eating alone.

"Ruby! Why are you here? I thought you left," I exclaid, sitting beside her.

She sighed. "I told you, I’m not settled; I won’t leave until the necklace thief is found. I have a feeling Bryce will send feedback today or tomorrow. I’ll wait here until then."

"You don’t need to do this. I’ve told you," I groaned, then exhaled. "I snapped at you earlier; I’m sorry. I was mad and frustrated about the whole situation. But I never once thought it was your fault—I only blad my luck." I exhaled again.

"No, I understand you better than anyone; I’m not mad."

"You’re eating spaghetti," I noted, looking into her dish.

"Yes, I had the chef make it for ."

"You thought it’d taste the sa as the one we had before?" I chuckled.

"Yes, but the taste is completely different. I’m not saying it’s not good—it’s perfect—but I crave the one we had at the mall. I like that one better."

"You used to like my chef’s cooking better than anyone."

"I know, but... You know what I an," she pouted.

"Yeah, I understand. I also want that one."

She shook her head and continued eating. The maid ca in with my milk, and I received it.

"Thank you."

"Are you okay now? You look better, but do you feel fine?"

"I feel better." I drank half the milk before responding. "Back then, it felt like my head was going to split in two. It was bad."

"It was that bad?"

"Yes."

"You have a weak immune system."

"I do?"

"You fall sick easily; haven’t you noticed?"

"Do I?"

"Yes. When was the last ti I fell ill?"

"I can’t rember."

"Exactly. You can’t rember; you need to eat more and take more supplents. You need to beco stronger too."

"I am strong."

"You need to be stronger like so you won’t fall sick easily. Anyway, tell if the headache gets worse."

"I will." I finished my milk and shifted my gaze to the chair across from . It’s been a while since I ate here.

I haven’t been eating in the dining room since the brothers left the house. I’ve been having my als in my room, mostly breakfast.

"About tomorrow..." Ruby cleared her throat, drawing my attention.

"Yes?" I looked at her.

"I think you should stay back... I’ll go alone. I’ll et the president’s son by myself."

"You want to attend the party alone?"

"Yes," she nodded.

"Why?"

"I don’t want a repeat of what happened today. I don’t want you to get hurt."

"You think my necklace will get stolen at a party ant for an important figure?" I scoffed. "Are you listening to yourself right now? Is your brain aware of what you just said? I don’t think so," I scoffed and looked away.

"Yes, my brain is fully aware and active. The brothers might act if sothing goes wrong. I agree with you. I think you should let them know."

"Ruby, stop. We decided to leave the party at 1:00 a.m.; let’s do that."

"No, I’ve thought about it. Inform the brothers. Do it."

"No, I won’t do it."

"Then stay ho. I’ll update you from the party."

"Goodness!" I dropped the cup and facepald. "You are starting to annoy ."

"I know. I’m sorry."

"You are overthinking things. The only thing you should be worried about is the dress code. How are we dressing for this party? Has Caron sent you the invite?"

"No, he hasn’t."

"He hasn’t ssaged you?"

"No."

"The party is tomorrow. When will he send it?" I sighed. "He should be quick about it. Text him if he still hasn’t sent it by evening."

"This is evening."

"Wait for a few more hours. I hope he hasn’t forgotten about this," I muttered.

"He said he’s busy. You heard him. He might be in a eting or sothing."

"You’re making things up," I said, grabbing the cup and leaving the dining room. After putting the cup in the sink, I went back to the dining room.

"What do you plan on doing in the anti?"

"Should we play a ga?"

"Play? What ga are we playing?"

"Hide-and-seek."

"What? You’re not a kid; why would you play that? And it won’t be fun since it’s just the two of us."

"Two of us? We can involve two or three maids," she said.

"Maids? I’m not sure they’d accept our offer to play."

"I’ll talk to them then." After clearing her dish, she went to the maids, then returned to .

"They agreed—three of them," she smiled, sitting beside .

"Are you sure?"

"They’re waiting in the sitting room; let’s go." She took my hand and led to them.

"Good evening, Miss."

"Good evening, miss," they greeted .

"Yeah," I responded, a little shy. I haven’t done this before. I hope it doesn’t get too awkward.

"So, we’ll spin the bottle to determine the first chaser." Ruby brought a bottle and spun it. The bottle pointed to a maid.

"So you’ll be the one chasing us. Count to thirty and co after us," Ruby instructed.

"Yes, Ms."

"Alright, let’s go." Ruby left, and so did the others.

"I’ll also leave," I said and quietly walked away from the sitting room. I walked toward an unfamiliar hallway and saw a tal door.

How do we open this room? I’ve never been to this part of the house before. I need to go in before the maid finds .

Does it have a button? After examining the surroundings, I found a button. It was tiny and almost invisible. After pressing the button, the door gave way and I entered. The minute I entered, the door locked behind .

The fact that the door locked behind didn’t bother until soti later—when I wanted to get out.

What is this room? It’s empty and gives a bad feeling. After checking the room, I found a door; it was made to appear as if it were a wall. It was disguised perfectly.

I pressed another button on the wall, and the door gave way to reveal a flight of stairs.

Okay, what is this place? Where am I? I’m starting to get scared.

Putting my fears aside, I began to descend the stairs, with my curiosity overshadowing my fears. I eventually landed in huge trouble.
