After dressing up, I went to the guest room.
"Are you going sowhere?" Maria asked, standing up.
"Yes, uh... I need to take a quick trip ho."
"What about the brothers?"
"I have no idea; I don’t... I don’t know where they are."
She sighed and took Aria’s hand. "Ti to go, baby. I thought we’d be able to retrieve so information from you."
"Forgive , I had no idea this happened."
"It’s not a problem. Can I get your contact info?"
"Yeah." We exchanged contacts, and she left. I rushed to the garage and found Joshua waiting in the car.
I sat in the back. "Please be quick; this is a bit urgent," I said to him.
"Understood."
Joshua took off, and after several hours, we arrived at my parents’ ho. I jumped out of the vehicle and went to the entrance. I was about to open the door when it suddenly opened from the inside, and I saw Everett and Tate.
"Everett, Tate," I called, smiling, but my smile instantly faded when I noticed soone else.
Cole.
He ca out of the house and glanced at ; my heart jumped to my throat once our eyes t, and I suddenly stopped breathing. But Cole didn’t speak to . He walked past , went to the gate, and left the house.
What was he doing here?
Swallowing, I asked, "Why was he here?"
"I don’t know; he t Mom. I’m not sure what they discussed," Everett responded. I shifted my attention back to them.
"I thought you were returning next week," I pouted.
"We were, but..." He sighed.
"What happened?"
"We also received those pictures you received," Tate answered.
"You did? Both of you? Why would the sender send it to everyone?"
"Where are Mom and Dad?"
"They’re in their bedroom. Mom has not been feeling well since she saw those photos."
"I’ll go to her." I entered the house, took the stairs, and went straight to Mom and Dad’s bedroom.
"Mom, Dad," I called, knocking on the door. "It’s ; I’m ho."
"Co in, the door is open," Mom’s weak voice replied.
I twisted the doorknob and walked in; my eyes t Dad’s. He was sitting at the edge of the bed, a sad expression on his face.
Mom was resting on the bed; she sat up once she saw .
"Mom, are you okay?" I quickly went to her. She looked sick.
She exhaled weakly.
"Why didn’t you tell you were sick?"
"I was hoping you wouldn’t get those photos. I was happy when I didn’t receive a call from you. I thought they skipped you."
"Mom, you’re burning up. Have you gone to the hospital?"
"The nurse has been here."
"No, you need to go to the hospital." I looked at Dad. "Dad, what are you doing? You should’ve taken her to the hospital," I sighed.
"Your mom refused," Dad muttered, his eyes on the floor.
"Why should I go to the hospital? I’m not sick; my body is functioning properly. I’m just too heartbroken. That’s what this is. I feel so ashad to face my children; they saw disgusting photos of their father. I failed as a mother."
"What are you saying? Don’t speak such nonsense," I said, sitting by her side. "You did nothing wrong."
"No, it was my fault. I wasn’t a good wife, nor was I a good mother, because tell why your father would go to a brothel. Give one reason why he would go there," she sighed. I frowned and looked at Dad.
"Will you explain what this is, please? Are those things I saw real?"
Dad opened his mouth to answer, but before he could speak, Mom interrupted, "They’re real. Those photos are real. Your dad really had a great ti with that wench. He did."
"I wasn’t in my right mind, you know this; I wouldn’t cheat on you otherwise," Dad said imdiately.
"You weren’t in your right mind? What is that supposed to an, Dad?" I questioned.
"Then tell why you went to a brothel," Mom demanded.
"I told you, I thought it was a bar. My friend convinced it was one, and it had all the settings of a bar. How was I supposed to know I could get drugged and that could happen?"
"You just keep giving excuses upon excuses. You cheated on . You slept with another woman," Mom raised her voice.
"I know, I acknowledge that fact, and I am sorry. I feel just as ashad; I have felt disgusted with myself since this happened. Allow to leave; my presence is making you sick. Why won’t you let go?"
"Where do you plan to go? You want to run to another wench?"
"Of course not. I’ll return ho; my father is still alive. I’ll stay there until I earn your forgiveness."
"Who says I’ll ever forgive you? Huh? Who says I’ll ever forgive a man who sleeps around?"
Dad lowered his head again, and Mom lay on the bed, fuming.
I stood up. "Dad, can I talk to you?"
I walked out of the room, and he followed; we stood in front of their bedroom. "Can you explain what you just said? You were drugged?"
"Yes, my drink was spiked. It might seem like I was conscious, but I wasn’t aware of my surroundings. When I woke up the following morning, I could hardly rember anything. But I saw those pictures beside ."
"When I looked at the pictures, I realized I’d been set up. I believe my friend set up. He has also left town; I searched everywhere for him but couldn’t find him," he explained.
"So you didn’t see the lady after you woke up?"
"I didn’t. When I asked the workers, they claid that the lady wasn’t one of them. So..." He breathed out, looking miserable.
"Have you notified the cops about this?"
"I have. I was desperate to clear my na, so I notified them, but they haven’t found them. Both the lady and my friend disappeared."
"Which of your friends?"
"Alejandro."
"Mr. Alejandro? He did this to you?" I gasped. "I can’t believe this."
"Yeah, his wife and child have no idea where he went. He left ho."
"Does Mom know all of this?"
"She does; she also reported it to the cops. She’s desperate to locate Alejandro. She won’t fully believe unless we find him. I don’t know where he is."
"He can’t hide forever," I muttered.
"Do you believe ?"
"I do, I believe you, and I think Mom also believes you. This is the first ti this has happened. I don’t believe you’re a cheat, Dad. Mom knows this too; she’s just too heartbroken."
"I know how your mom feels; I feel terrible for doing this to her. And staying by her side is honestly making things worse; it’s hard to look her in the eyes."
I reached for his hand. "You don’t have to feel ashad. What happened was bad; you were also a victim. It might take ti before Mom forgives you, but stick by her side; don’t go hiding by yourself. She wants you by her side; she would have asked you to leave if she hated your face. So stay; don’t hide, okay?"
"I guess so," he muttered.
Just then, we heard Mom coughing; we rushed into the room to find her coughing aggressively.
"Mom, you need to go to the hospital," I said. "Help her out of bed, Dad." We moved Mom out of the bed and took her to the car.
"I said I’m fine; I don’t need to go to the hospital," Mom argued, but we ignored her protest.
I paid for a VIP room, and the doctors and nurses sward her room the next second. They took her blood and urine for tests. They carried out all sorts of tests, and so of the results ca back the next day.
The doctor in charge brought a report to her ward. Dad was sitting by her side on the bed, Everett and Tate were in the seating area, while I was by the window.
The doctor presented a report to my mom. "Congratulations, ma’am, you’re six weeks along," the doctor announced.
Our attention imdiately shifted to him. "You an I’m pregnant?" Mom looked confused.
Dad stood up, appearing both shocked and confused.
"Yes, six weeks," the doctor confird with a smile.
Mom frowned, "Why am I pregnant at this age?"
"Uh, you haven’t entered nopause, have you?"
"Yes."
"And you’re 53. It’s very possible; I’ve seen cases like yours, and—"
"Abortion," Mom interrupted. "I don’t need this. Why would I be pregnant at this age? This doesn’t make any sense."
"Uh, ma’am, I know this might co as a shock, but we’ll give you ti to go over things with your husband; after you make your decision, we’ll proceed accordingly. Although pregnancy at this age cos with a lot of risk, we’ll allow you to think things through."
"I’ll take my leave now," the doctor said, bowing before leaving the ward.
Mom turned her gaze to Dad. His face was red; I guessed he was embarrassed.
"What is the aning of this?" She grabbed him and dragged him to his seat, then slapped the paper to his forehead.
"I... I... I don’t know," Dad muttered.
"You don’t know? Didn’t you hear the doctor?"
"I... I know, I’m sorry."
"Why are you apologizing? What are you apologizing for?"
"For everything. I’m sorry."
"You’re sorry? After cheating on ? This thing shall be aborted. I have risked my life three tis for you; I’m not about to do that a fourth ti for a cheater. I was happy doing it those tis because you were the best husband. Who knew you’d do this?" She huffed and looked away.
"I’m sorry, forgive , it won’t happen again," Dad began to beg her.
"Let’s leave," I whispered to my brothers, and we left the ward.
From outside the ward, I listened as Dad continued begging for Mom’s forgiveness.
