Leilani and I drove for such a very long ti that I began to wonder where exactly we were headed.
A couple of minutes had passed with following at a reasonable distance behind her, and when at so point, she stopped and packed her car, I froze. Because...
We were almost at the borders of a dangerous pack of Lycans nad Shadowvane or shadowstone... or sothing along those lines.
I watched her quietly as she slipped out of her car, and it wasn’t until this mont that I realized the reason behind her current choice of clothes: it was to help her blend with the darkness. It was to hide her from probable public scrutiny— not like it would help with how out of place she looked.
Her ponytail was too high and her eyes darted around her environnt a little too many tis.
Goddess, what is she doing? I asked myself but soon got my answer when she cast one last look at her car before walking towards a very very large and high end beautiful hotel building standing tall in this ’middle of nowhere’ with the words: ’The continental’ written boldly across the very top of its shiny glass surface.
And despite the worry I felt about seeing her in this strange place, I couldn’t help but notice the way she swerved her hips gently as she walked into the large hotel building, her hair bouncing behind her as she moved.
The sight nearly set my wolf ablaze with desire, but shrugging off those perverted thoughts and reminding myself that she could be in danger, I sighed and waited until she was out of sight before I turned off my car and stepped out too, shuddering when the cold air hit my skin with a vengeance.
I understood that we were still in winter but sothing about this place felt different. Felt colder... and in an eerie way. The night was cold with stiff air, and my boots sunk into the snow with each step I took.
When I eventually got to the front of the hotel, I was stunned...
Why?
Because I couldn’t understand how sothing so luxurious could be found sowhere so deep into the middle of nowhere... and how in all my years of existence, I never knew that this existed.
Despite my attempts at being discreet, the first thing I noticed when I stepped into the hotel lobby was how different I also seed, and how everyone... including the hotel staff, turned to give the side eye.
They would occasionally glance at from head to toe and then look away; But I didn’t miss the subtle hostility in their gazes or the way they all seed to watch my every movent like a hawk stalking its prey.
Sowhere more than a few feet away from , I sighted Leilani sitting alone at a corner. But it wasn’t the fact that she was alone that stuck out to , it was the group of people closing in on her... and yet, she doesn’t seem to have noticed them!
My heart raced with panic as I quickly began to march towards her, but just before I could take two strides, two large n materialized out from nowhere and ca to stand before , their eyes glinting with sothing malicious as one of them spat;
"Is there a problem, young Alpha?"
I froze.
They know who I am... they could see through and I could not say the sa about them.
I shook my head slowly as my eyes t theirs, and then I tried to sidestep them as I muttered; "No. I just need to et with my friend."
"But our Alpha would like to et with you too." One of them— the one who looked like an albino with pale skin and red hair— said to , but nothing in his voice sounded welcoming, especially not the way his eyes seed to rove my body with malicious energy.
I sighed. "But my friend—"
"I’m sorry Alpha, but our Alpha is currently waiting for you... he’s watching right now as we speak."
Sothing about those words made my heart skip a beat, and a feeling akin to fear settled at the base of my stomach like a bile.
If my thoughts were true and this hotel belongs to the Alpha of Shadowvane pack, then I was in the den of Lycans not werewolves. Not just that, but the Alpha was rumored to be a dark knight... and those were one of the few people I and my brothers tried so hard never to cross.
I gulped at this thought but nodded at the n standing in front of in an attempt to seem unbothered.
But I failed.
I knew I failed as I could feel the slight tremor in my hands. I could also feel the color draining from my cheeks, and I knew for a fact that I probably looked like an embarrassed old power ranger right now.
"Okay," I drawled, waiting for these bulky n to lead the way, but they never did.
Instead, all I felt was a slight pinch at the corner of my neck before everything began to feel fuzzy, and before the entire world went black.

My teeth clattered, not just from cold but from the overbearing sense of fear weighing down on my chest like a large boulder.
Earlier today, I had contemplated coming to this strange hotel with Jarek, but upon the realization that Darius probably wants to et with alone, I decided to co alone.
He had given the specific location.
We had picked a date and ti.
So why the hell was he not here yet? Why the fuck has he decided to be fashionably late, leaving in this hotel lobby that feels more like a lion’s den than a recreational spot?
My hands shook as I brought my glass of white wine to my lips but I didn’t take a sip— I was simply pretending to enjoy myself knowing that there were a lot of eyes on .
After a mont, and after I had finally decided that it was ti to leave, I suddenly felt a strange presence behind and the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end as I spun around, my breath hitching in my chest as I ca face to face with a looming figure.
But it wasn’t his size that scared the most. It was his eyes... purple and electric.
—And it was the way his voice, deep and rich, echoed in my head. And he didn’t even move his lips!
He drawled; "Hello Leilani."
