Leilani.
For quite a while, after waking up, I couldn’t bring myself to use my legs. They felt stiff and sore and felt like a whole litre of mixed cent had been poured into my bones, making movents almost impossible and utterly painful.
By this ti, everyone had fizzled out of the room. The staff gathered by the door were all gone after witnessing the miracle of seeing co back from the dead— and that was quite literal.
Darius left too after informing us of so urgent matters that had co up, and Gavin, he went off to get so personal stuff while he made Maya remain with because in his words, he didn’t trust to not try to murder the triplets.
The silence in the room was suffocating. But what was even more suffocating was the way the triplets watched closely— too closely. It seed as though Caelum for one could see into my soul.
But that was not all.
Kael and Zevran had taken up their bodyguard duties once more. They helped every damn ti, even when I didn’t necessarily need their help and would provide with absolutely everything that I needed to feel comfortable when in truth, I simply wanted to be left alone to sleep.
On the floor lay the strange Miranda girl who had been passed out for over two hours now, but nobody seed to care.
My eyes darted from her body form to the triplets then to Maya, and I asked; "Aren’t we supposed to do sothing about her?"
"Besides detain her?" Maya clapped back, "I guess not. If anything, I would advise that she’s taken to Alpha Darius’ pack as he is the only one with the capabilities to keep her docile."
Docile.
That word sounded quite familiar to .
It sounded like sothing I had heard... sothing my wolf must’ve whispered to while I was in a coma. Or was it not?
At the ntion of my wolf or Lycan or whatever it was that had kept company in those dark monts of my life, a sense of loneliness crept into my heart. My chest twisted with a kind of pain that I couldn’t fathom; And do you know what was worse?
The fact that I knew I was weak... weaker than I should have ever been.
The fact that I knew that all I wanted were just on my fingertips, and all I had to do was take that bold step. To make that decision even though it was most stupid to think about.
I sighed deeply just as these thoughts sward my mind, and without thinking my next words through, I turned to Zevran and muttered;
"Zevran?"
He turned to quickly, cocking his eyebrows when he found literally drilling holes into his body with my eyes.
Sothing akin to a blush but faint appeared on both sides of his cheeks and he turned away quickly, his voice almost a whisper as he asked; "What is it, Leilani? Is there sothing you need?"
"Yes," I rasped coldly, not missing the way Kael and Caelum instinctively inched closer as well.
"Will you mark ?"
The words had left my lips before I realized the gravity it held. But at this ti, it was already too late to take it back. Too late to undo the look of pure shock that had now etched its way onto their faces.
Maya was the first to gasp, her eyes were wide like she couldn’t possibly fathom what would make say such a statent. But before anyone could hold it over my head, I quickly began to explain;
"I am disconnected from my inner wolf..."
"Or Lycan..." Maya chirped in,
"...yes, or Lycan." I sighed, "...and I have been told that I need to be marked to form a bond between and her. Now, Alpha Frostclaw is unwell and unable to help . If anything, I ought to be strong to be able to help him— which I currently am not. The only other person I can ask for help is—"
"Darius... and you don’t want that?" Zevran drawled softly and I nodded. And in that minute, I couldn’t help but notice how compassionately he was looking at . How selfless he has always been... and how nice...
Well, that is the exact reason I chose him in the first place.
A flicker of sothing akin to glee crossed his face but the lights soon went out when he dragged in a lungful of air and shook his head, softly muttering the word;
"No,"
I froze. "What?"
"No," he said again, quietly. "I cannot."
My mouth hung open and embarrassnt began to claw its way up my spine just like spider man would the Eiffel Tower.
He said; "I know you just want to do it, but I cannot. I am one out of three. Bonded to my brothers in ways that I can hardly explain. We are all bound to you and if I do this alone, then there would be consequences."
"I do not have to mate with you, I just wish to be marked," I cut in quickly—too quickly, "it is the least you all can do for after everything..."
At my words, the three brothers turned to fix themselves a glare. It seed like they were silently communicating in a way that no one else could hear. Then Kael whispered;
"Okay,"
I frowned slightly in shock, "but—"
"He would do it," he said stubbornly, "...but first, you need to get better and we need to get you away from here and from the Lycan Alpha, Darius."
At first, I had no idea what he ant by that but upon rembering how eccentric Darius could be when he wants to, and how head bent he’d been about convincing to get married to him, I began to piece bits and pieces of what Kael was saying.
I nodded once at him, my voice quiet as I asked; "Did he do anything in my absence? I an, in my state of unconsciousness...?"
"Not really," Caelum answered, sounding surprisingly calm but at the sa ti, unable to look at my face, "...he didn’t do anything weird besides making a claim to you ti and ti again... and we fear that he will go crazy when he finds out that you chose Z to mark you and not him."
They were surprisingly sweet and surprisingly taking it all in good faith.
I know it is wrong of but I found myself smiling warmly at them and then, upon rembering Caelum’s words, I hissed;
"Then he should go crazy."
