Zaiden sat in a chair and chatted with Sylvan for a while.
Because he didn’t want to disturb Sylvan and Joan, he soon stood up.
In his view, Joan was a fine match, though much younger than Sylvan; she wasn’t spoiled like most young won but was instead gentle and considerate.
He had already noticed the red date porridge and the peeled apple on the table.

She and Sylvan complented each other well.
Sylvan was extrely busy with his career and work, seldom taking care of himself, but having Joan around would make a difference.
Joan would take good care of Sylvan, at least ensuring he wouldn’t end up in the hospital for drinking again.
Similarly, she would take care of Chale Cheney as well.
In Zaiden’s eyes, Joan and Sylvan were a perfect match.
Not just in terms of their compatible personalities, but also their status and influence supported each other perfectly.

After a while, the door of the hospital room was knocked again.
Charles McIntosh stood outside.
Zaiden rose from his seat: “Take care of yourself, I’ll head back now.”
“Let walk you out,” said Charles.
“No need, my car is downstairs; stay put,” Zaiden declined politely and left.
With Zaiden gone, Charles then entered the hospital room and shut the door behind him.
He strode long-legged to the bedside, lowered his voice and said, “Mr. Cheney, Chris Fern has awakened.”
Charles’s face was calm and composed.
Sylvan’s pupils constricted, his gaze intense, and his face took on a solemn hue.
A sternness swept over his usually austere face as he looked at Charles, his brows furrowed, “When?”
“Just now.”
It had been months, at last.
The hospital had been keeping him alive daily, performing several major and minor surgeries, yet the results were not significant.
Just last week, the doctors ntioned there was still blood clotted inside his skull and feared he might not wake up for a while.
They had been prepared for the possibility that Chris Fern wouldn’t wake up this year, but unexpectedly, he had awakened just now.
“Is soone keeping a close watch on him?” Sylvan asked.
“There are people watching, but…” Charles hesitated.
“But what? Did sothing happen?”
“No, it’s just that he seems to rember nothing,” Charles reported truthfully. “The hospital called , I haven’t had the chance to see him yet.”
“Amnesia?” Sylvan’s eyes turned sharp, his expression darkened.
