“Really just a cold? Ann, take good care of your health, nothing else matters, only your body is yours,” Jasmine Yale advised, “Don’t overwork yourself. Did you enjoy yesterday’s Qixi Festival?”
“Worked overti, didn’t celebrate.”
“Look at you, I told you not to overwork, to get so rest, yet you still worked overti,” Jasmine protested.
A bitter smile tugged at the corners of Ann Nolan’s lips, her eyes dim, lightless.
The eyes that were usually bright, at this mont, covered with a layer of faint confusion, seed boundless, with no end in sight.
She rubbed her forehead, leaning wearily against the wall.
The wall supported her body, preventing her from collapsing.
“Then Jasmine, I’m going off to rest, just took so cold dicine, feeling a bit drowsy,” Ann Nolan said.
“Alright, you’d better take a day off tomorrow, and if it’s serious, rember to go to the hospital.”
“Okay.”
Ann Nolan hung up the phone, then crouched down powerlessly, burying her head in her knees, in deep agony.
Her face was pale, her lips as white as paper.
Her head ached trendously, and she squatted there, her vision dizzy.
This was a hotel suite, the air scented with lavender and hints of eroticism.
Ann Nolan rembered everything from last night, and her head…hurt even more.
She covered her head with her hands, squatting on the floor, scenes from last night washing over her like a flood, unavoidable, inescapable.
Yesterday was Qixi, the Chinese Valentine’s Day, and Zaiden Santos was away on business.
