Inside Lilac’s simple apartnt, Chale Cheney was holding her tablet.
“Jasy is so pretty.” The little guy was focused solely on Jasmine Yale the whole ti, “so impressive.”
Lilac sat beside him, touching his head, “Yes, she is.”
“But I can’t sit down there to watch her, it’s not fun.” Chale Cheney pouted.
Suddenly, he saw a little girl giving Jasy flowers and even hugging her!
“Who is this little girl? How can she hug Jasy, Jasy is mine.” Chale Cheney’s possessiveness flared up again and he looked over at Lilac with dissatisfaction.
He was a bit jealous.
How could soone just casually hug Jasy, and moreover, Jasy even kissed her.
Oh my, how could she kiss her.
Chale Cheney was unhappy.
Lilac had no choice but to coax him, “This is the little girl giving flowers, and your Jasy’s favorite is definitely you, you know.”
“Hmm.” The little guy was still a bit unhappy.
Lilac found the little guy quite interesting. So young, and yet so possessive.
She didn’t know why the little guy was so attached to Jasmine Yale.
Chale Cheney stared at the tablet, while Lilac sat on the sofa drinking tea.
It was raining again in London today; the rain was continuous and unending through the night.
Everything outside the window was damp; looking out, mist rose and the fine rain moistened the changing light.
Water had collected on the spider plants Lilac was growing, making their green color even more vibrant and eye-catching.
When Lilac happened to look down, her gaze fell upon Chale Cheney’s little face.
This face, it resembled Mr. Cheney’s so much.
But upon closer inspection, the chin and lips looked more like soone else.
Yes, no mistake, they looked like Jasmine Yale.
Lilac paused her gaze montarily, then withdrew it.
She leant back in the sofa, both reading a book and sipping tea.
In her hands was an English edition of “Wuthering Heights”; she read it line by line, her hair falling over her shoulders, embodying a rare sense of tranquility.
This was how she used to be, but now there was Chale Cheney to take care of.
She didn’t trust others to do it, so she did it herself.
“This person looks like Dad.” Suddenly, Chale Cheney pressed the pause button, pointing with his little finger towards the screen and looking at Lilac, “Aunt Lilac, look.”
“Hmm?” Lilac set down her book, leaning closer.
Chale Cheney slled delightfully of baby milk fragrance, and Lilac nestled closer to his head, peering intently at the screen.
“Where?”
“Here, right here,” insisted Chale Cheney, pointing frantically, “Does it look like him, does it look like him?”
Lilac took another good look, really?
This dense crowd—how did Chale Cheney even spot him?
And the video was too blurry, flashing by in an instant.
She tried to make out the details and saw he did resemble Mr. Cheney a bit.
This man sat in the last row of the auditorium, lost among the crowd, yet his sharp presence couldn’t be obscured even by the throng of people.
The video flashed by so quickly that even with Chale Cheney pausing it, only a blurred image was visible.
The profile of the face did indeed resemble Mr. Cheney’s.
“Aunt Lilac, is it Dad?” Chale Cheney looked at her full of expectancy.
He thought it was.
But Lilac hadn’t heard about Sylvan Cheney being in the U.S.
If it really was Mr. Cheney…
“Aunt Lilac, is it?” Chale Cheney was still asking.
“It’s not very clear, it could be.”
“I think it is; Dad looks like this.” Chale Cheney stared at the screen, it was Elder Cheney, whom he recognized, “Dad likes Jasy, he just does.”
Lilac didn’t quite understand matters of the heart. Did Mr. Cheney really like Jasmine Yale?
