Chapter 1142: Chapter 1142: Smarter than His Dad

Charles Mcintosh didn’t expect Lilac Serval to suddenly ask him this question; he remained silent for a long ti.

“Brother Mcintosh, you have always been the person Mr. Cheney trusts the most. You must know things others don’t. So, don’t try to trick by saying you don’t know,” Lilac Serval left Charles Mcintosh no way out.

“Little Lilac, you are not soone with excessive curiosity in my heart.”

“That’s true, I generally have little interest in other people’s affairs, but everyone has curiosity.”

“Little Lilac, I can tell you anything else, but I’m sorry, I won’t discuss Mr. Cheney’s matters.”

“Not even to ?”

“It’s about orders and loyalty.”

“Go to hell.”

Lilac Serval was so angry that she hung up the phone.

Orders and loyalty? What a grand-sounding excuse.

Lilac Serval was agitated again, but she knew Charles’s personality all too well; if he refused to speak, she couldn’t force it out of him.

After hanging up, Lilac Serval went to visit Chale Cheney in the ward.

Chale Cheney was sitting on the hospital bed, next to him sat an elderly man who looked to be in his sixties.

The old man was playing Go with Chale Cheney and patiently taught him.

“Master, is it good to put this here?” Chale Cheney held a white stone.

“If you put it there, you’ll waste the piece. You need to place it here,” the elderly man advised.

“Master,” Lilac Serval said with a smile as she walked in, “how co you’re here? You hardly ever leave the training ground.”

“I missed Chale.”

The old man had never married in his life; he had many disciples, but no children of his own.

It didn’t matter to him when he was young, and ti just flew by.

It was only in his old age that he realized how hard it was to bear not having descendants.

Plus, with his advanced age, he rarely took on new disciples anymore, which made him feel even lonelier.

Ever since Chale Cheney ca along, he had rediscovered his enjoynt. This youngster was different from his father, far more clever and spirited than his dad.

And much more interesting.

“Aunt Lilac, Master is scolding for being stupid,” Chale Cheney scratched his head, looking aggrieved.

Lilac Serval let out a chuckle, “You’ll have to get used to your bad Master.”

She, along with Charles Mcintosh and Mr. Cheney, all went through the sa training back in the day.

The Master was harsh in words but soft at heart, exceedingly strict with them, always hiding his deepest love.

As a child, she didn’t quite understand, but as she grew older, it all beca clear.

She was an orphan, and her feelings for her Master were very deep.

During holidays, when she had no one else, she’d spend ti with her Master, drinking and chatting together.

“Not stupid, not stupid at all, you’re much smarter than your dad,” the old man declared cheerfully.

“I’ve always been smarter than Elder Cheney,” Chale Cheney pouted, then huffed.

If Elder Cheney wasn’t dumb, how co he ended up without a wife?

Dumb to the core.

The old man didn’t deny this; indeed, Chale seed more amusing to him than his father.

It had been quite a while since he last saw Sylvan Cheney, and he found himself missing him a bit.

His three most proud disciples were Sylvan Cheney, Charles Mcintosh, and Lilac Serval; even now, he spoke of them with exceptional pride.

Now that he was old, his body not as strong as before, training Chale was sowhat beyond his capacity.

But in these peaceful tis, there weren’t too many demands for Chale.

Still, being part of the Cheney Family, these were experiences he had to go through.

“Aunt Lilac, I don’t know how to play chess, and Master bullies ,” Chale Cheney complained.

“Once you learn, I guarantee you’ll be better than your Master. Your Master loves to take back moves,” Lilac teased.

The old man: “…”

“Chale, Auntie got so fruit, make sure you eat plenty,” Lilac Serval casually peeled an orange.

“Okay!”

Chale Cheney was happy; being sick ant he didn’t have to go to the training ground.
