“Little Chale, when you grow up, you’ll understand that people can’t be easily compared, at least, not in a few words,” Jasmine Yale explained patiently, even though she knew he wouldn’t understand.
Just like comparing Yukon Carbon with Sylvan Cheney, how could it be done?
They were two very different characters, even poles apart.
Each had their own rits.
Chale Cheney indeed didn’t understand; he tilted his head and tugged at Jasmine Yale’s clothes.
“Will Jasy marry Uncle Carbon?”
“Perhaps.”
Of all the people she t, the most suitable for marriage was only Yukon Carbon.
Even the picky Sylvan Cheney had said, Yukon was marriage material, hadn’t he?
When he asked her to marry Yukon Carbon, he was clearly planning to hide Chale’s matters from her for a lifeti.

“Little Chale, Jasy can’t promise you anything, but whenever there’s ti, Jasy will co to Lonton to see you, alright?” Jasmine Yale straightened his clothes for him again.
Chale Cheney fell silent, his little face showing a sense of grievance.
To say it wasn’t painful would be untrue.
After Jasy got married, she would have her own baby, who would need her.
Her baby would be with her all the ti, to eat, sleep, play… But what about him? He could only see her after a very, very long ti.
Chale Cheney felt a tinge of jealousy.

Jasmine Yale led him downstairs, and he wasn’t in high spirits.

She silently watched Chale Cheney’s face, fearing to touch upon the truth.
If she never touched it, he would always be Sylvan Cheney’s child with another woman, with the mother’s identity unknown.
Jasmine Yale’s heart trembled, causing her hand holding the cup to waver slightly.
She bowed her head and took a sip of the hot milk, trying to suppress the shiver in her heart.
But could she really avoid touching upon the truth?
It had been five years, and she still rembered the feeling of the little one kicking inside her womb.
Could she do it?
She couldn’t even pass this hurdle within herself.
Chale Cheney ate his breakfast listlessly, pondering many things in his little head.
Jasy had a favorite uncle now, Jasy was going to get married, Jasy would have her own baby, Jasy didn’t need him anymore, let alone Elder Cheney…
A layer of watery mist glazed over Chale Cheney’s long eyelashes.
Suddenly, his big eyes brightened, and he called out crisply, “Mommy, want that! Cookie! Cookie!”
Jasmine, who was drinking her milk, felt as if an electric current had shot through her at that mont—it was one thing for him to call her, but it was another for him to do so of his own volition.
Her hand slipped, almost shattering the cup!
Her heart couldn’t stop trembling, trembling vehently.
Jasmine Yale slowly lifted her head.
