Chapter 1301: Chapter 1301 It might… be the last ti seeing each other
Today, the weather in Chicago is nice, she plans to take Sweet Kitty downstairs to bask in the sun.
Her hair has grown long, Jasmine Yale saw her own black tresses in the mirror, as if she were back in the past.
Since arriving in Chicago, she hadn’t cut her hair.
At the mont, she was gently running her fingers through her hair.
Her phone rang, and she saw it was Joe Heath calling.
“Are you calling to ask to play a ga? I’ve got no ti, I’m going out,” Jasmine said, twirling her hair with one hand and holding the phone with the other, a clear smile around the corner of her lips.
“I have sothing to tell you.”
Jasmine’s heart skipped a beat, Joe rarely spoke to her with such a calm tone.
Tell you sothing? What thing?
She held her breath, gripping the phone, “What is it?”
Her heart thumped twice, feeling slightly uncomfortable.
She was not used to this Joe Heath.
“My older brother… do you still keep in touch with him?” Joe’s voice was very low, deep with a hint of gloom.
“No.”
“He’s sick, without a confird diagnosis, but it’s said to be terminal. If you have the ti, co back and look at him, it may… be the last ti.”
Clang——
Jasmine’s phone dropped, crashing onto the floor.
For a mont, a vacant luster rose up in Jasmine’s eyes, her expression stunned, her mouth agape, her complexion ashen.
The phone slipped from her hand, yet her gesture lingered motionless for a long ti.
In that instant, it was as if an electric current struck her chest, and her heartbeat vanished in a flash.
Her mind went blank, only the words “the last ti” hauntingly floated before her eyes.
The last ti?
Sweet Kitty was startled, frantically hopping around the living room.
“ow…” It jumped to Jasmine’s feet, its paw tugging at her slippers.
The phone was still on the line, Joe’s deep voice coming from the other end, “Jasmine? Jasmine? Are you okay?”
He called her a few tis, and she didn’t hear a single one.
Sweet Kitty kept on owing nonstop.
In the not-so-quiet apartnt, only Jasmine was silent.
“Jasmine! Answer the phone!” Joe yelled hysterically from the other end.
Who knows how long, how long passed…
Only then did Jasmine seem to regain her senses, slowly squatting down, her fingers trembling as she picked up the phone from the floor.
“I’m here…” her voice had changed.
“When will you co back? How many days till winter break? I don’t insist on you returning, but no matter what, he was with you for twelve years. Once a person is gone, they’re gone forever,” Joe’s voice broke, nearly crying.
“…” Jasmine had a lump in her throat, unable to speak a word.
“Co back and have a look, I can pick you up at the airport, he’s in the hospital.”
“Really?” Jasmine spoke heavily, her eyes reddened, her heart brimming with a myriad of emotions, twisting like threads around her heart.
“I wouldn’t joke about this kind of thing with you, I’m still a person with a conscience.”
“What illness.”
“Still not diagnosed, these past days, he’s been vomiting blood every day.”
Silence.
Jasmine crouched on the floor, her vision blurring for a mont, struggling to hold herself up.
“I understand,” she said softly after a long while.
“That’s good you know, it’s my duty to inform you. I’ve co back to Landon from Europe, just learned it myself,” Joe’s voice was laden with sorrow, “I’ll check on the situation again tomorrow, if there’s anything, I will tell you.”
“No need, I’ll co back.”
