Joe Heath looked exasperated. Did he look like a conman?
He put away his phone and glanced at his watch, "I need to hurry to the airport. I didn’t deceive you back here for any other reason. Jasmine, so things, you have to choose for yourself."
"Jasmine, you are his cure."
"You’re lying, deceiving..." Jasmine Yale didn’t believe him; she leaned against the cold wall, her eyes filled with a bewildered light.
She didn’t believe it, she still didn’t believe.
Joe Heath was a conman!
How could the Cheney Family be in trouble? How could Sylvan Cheney be in prison?
It was all Joe Heath’s fabrication! Joe Heath was a conman!
"The final trial is in two months. These matters, my older brother and Charles Mcintosh kept very tight," Joe Heath said. "My brother’s intentions are clear; he’d rather go to prison than enter into a marriage of convenience. You should understand what he ans, Jasmine."
"What do I understand? I don’t understand anything, I can’t see through Sylvan Cheney..." Jasmine Yale suddenly cried again.
Joe Heath sighed and reached out to wipe her tears, "You really have shallow tear ducts, haven’t you always loved to act spoiled around my brother like this?"
Before eting Jasmine Yale, he had wondered what kind of woman his brother, a man like that, would like?
After eting Jasmine Yale, he never believed Sylvan Cheney would like a delicate woman like her.
Who cries at the drop of a hat, just like she’s made of water.
Could Sylvan Cheney fall for that?
"He’s such a smart man, how could he end up in prison? He must have a way, Joe Heath, you’re deceiving ," Jasmine Yale looked up at him with tear-filled eyes, her tone firm.
He must be deceiving her.
Droplets hung from Jasmine Yale’s long eyelashes, her eyes trembled slightly, and the tears rolled down.
"Little Jasmine, do you not understand what smuggling is? With conclusive evidence, could my brother not go to prison?"
"What if Sylvan Cheney married Joan Harry?"
"Then there would be no problem, the evidence is in Yacob Harry’s hands, he might not turn it in. Moreover, if the Cheney and Harry families join forces, their status in Landon would be unshakable," Joe Heath said quietly. "If it were up to , I might have married Joan Harry. But I’m not my brother, and my thoughts can’t represent his."
"Little Jasmine, as for why my brother doesn’t want to marry Joan Harry, I don’t need to tell you the reason."
"Little Jasmine, my brother marrying you is a stroke of luck for him across three lifetis, and you marrying my brother, is a lifeti of happiness. Think it over carefully."
"Joe Heath, you’re just deceiving . You told before that a man like him isn’t the one for . That he and I aren’t even compatible..." Jasmine Yale cried, tears streaming down her face.
"In the past, I did say that," Joe Heath grinned sheepishly. "But that was in the past, I take it back."
Before, he had never thought Sylvan Cheney would fall for a delicate woman like Jasmine Yale, assuming he was just toying with her.
After he was done playing, he would throw her away.
But what man would gamble his entire fortune and life for a woman?
If this isn’t love, what is?
"You all gang up to fool ; do I deserve to be deceived by you? Why hadn’t I heard anything about this before? I don’t know anything!"
"You don’t know anything, and that’s my brother’s intention," Joe Heath said. "The stock of the Cheney Family, just ask around a bit, and you’ll know, it’s plumted terribly."
"He doesn’t love ." Jasmine Yale shook her head, her eyes shimring with disbelief.
"Whether he loves you or not, I can’t give you an answer. You have to ask him yourself." Joe Heath looked at her.
