Chapter 1393: Chapter 1393: Life is But a First eting
Sylvan Cheney knew her thoughts all too well. He looked down at her sitting in the chair, squinting slightly, “Understood.”
“Then off you go, the sooner you leave, the sooner you’ll return,” Jasmine Yale reminded him.
She wasn’t that petty.
Under the sunlight, the light in her eyes was especially clear, her long eyelashes fluttering like little fans.
Sylvan Cheney dressed himself and went downstairs to the garage.

Joan Harry seed to have arrived very early, sitting alone with her head lowered, staring at the black tea in her cup.
She wore a khaki coat, her long hair cascading over her shoulders, covering half of her face.
Her bowed head appeared serious, unmoving as she stared into the cup with no other expression, resembling a lifeless rag doll.
But Joan Harry was beautiful, and even in silence, her elegance couldn’t be concealed.
Upon entering the tea house, Sylvan Cheney spotted her imdiately.
When he stopped in front of her, Joan Harry raised her head and gave a slight, strained smile.
“Mr. Cheney, do you like the black tea?”
“It’s fine,” Sylvan Cheney sat down across from her.
Joan Harry’s complexion was terribly pale, unmasked by foundation, yet it looked as if she had applied a thick layer.
She took out a docunt from her bag and handed it to Sylvan Cheney.
“Mr. Cheney, this is my resignation letter,” Joan Harry said calmly, “I will no longer work at the Cheney Family company. I’m not sure if my work over the past year has been satisfactory, but whether it is or isn’t, I have to leave.”
Sylvan Cheney’s gaze lingered on the report for a few seconds: “What are your plans after resigning?”
“To study abroad.”
“That’s fine,” Sylvan Cheney nodded.
He knew that Joan Harry was completely unaware of Yacob Harry’s actions.
“Mr. Cheney, I know the last text ssage wasn’t sent by you,” Joan Harry spoke calmly, “After a year of working together, I know you wouldn’t send such a ssage. Nonetheless, I went to Heavenly Blessing.”
Perhaps, deep down, she harbored a little hope.
Like, maybe he had developed feelings for her.
But intuition is always right.
Sylvan Cheney didn’t like her, even though they had worked together for over a year.
“Mr. Cheney, my father seems to have the idea of a marriage alliance between the Cheyney and Harry families, just don’t agree to it,” Joan Harry took a slow sip of her tea, “I don’t have much else to say, Mr. Cheney. I’ve passed all my work tasks to Secretary Zaila.”
“When are you leaving the country? Which country are you going to?”
“If soon, day after tomorrow. I’m planning to study deeper at Cibridge, I graduated there originally.”
Sylvan Cheney didn’t say much more.
He didn’t bring up Jesse Rowan, knowing that Joan Harry surely did not wish him to.
The tea room was filled with various tea aromas, elegant, fragrant, quiet, and serene.
Joan Harry didn’t intend to say much more, and after a short conversation, she stood up: “Then Mr. Cheney, I’ll head ho first.”
“Shall I take you?”
“No need,” Joan Harry smiled slightly, “I’ll take a taxi.”
In the tea room, Sylvan Cheney’s handso face was veiled in curling mists.
Joan Harry gazed at him, thinking it might be the last ti they spoke this closely.
If only life were as it is at first sight.
She still rembered the first ti she t Sylvan Cheney; she was about to graduate while he attended her father’s wine banquet.
It rained that night, and Grandfather Childe had him take her ho.
He was always a gentleman and friendly towards her, and she had never openly revealed her feelings for him.
