The car window closed, obscuring the view from the outside.
Jasmine Yale stopped what she was doing, her gaze still fixed outside the window.
Sunlight shone through the slanted glass, and due to the angle, she saw a colorful and radiant sight.
The light was good.
Jasmine suddenly missed Ann Nolan; she lowered her head and sifted through the photos on her phone.
There were pictures of her and Ann together, as well as photos of Little Candy.
The little girl’s eyes and face shape resembled Ann, but her forehead, nose bridge, lips... many features were more like that man.
She didn’t know when Ann could move on from her last marriage, and she hoped it would be sooner rather than later.
She also selfishly hoped that Zachary Santos would treat Ann and her daughter better, even if Ann hadn’t accepted him yet.
In the photo, Little Candy was lively and cute, having grown up quite a bit.
The tender part of Jasmine’s heart felt stirred once again.
After what seed like a long ti, the car door sounded.
"Miss Yale, have you been waiting long? The groceries are all bought."
Jasmine Yale put away her phone: "No, Butler Santana, you were very quick."
"Shall we go ho now?"
"Yeah, let’s go ho." Jasmine Yale had stepped out for so fresh air; that was enough.
Butler Santana drove Jasmine Yale back to the Cheney Residence.
Jasmine Yale chattered away: "Butler Santana, do you have any photos of Chale Cheney from when he was just born? I really want to see..."
"Photos? Mr. Cheney should have so; I rember he even took the young master for a professional photoshoot on his hundredth day. The young master was so adorable back then, small compared to other children, but so smart."
"Where are the photos?"
"They should be in Lonton; Mr. Cheney put them away. You’ll have to ask Mr. Cheney about these; I’m not too sure."
"Oh."
Jasmine Yale imagined the little guy must have been soft and tiny when he was born, capable of both crying and laughing.
Holding him in her arms must have been just like with Little Candy.
Thinking this, a faint regret spread across the bottom of her heart.
Her hand involuntarily rested on her lower abdon.
It was noon.
Sylvan Cheney ca ho for lunch.
Jasmine Yale went to the doorway to take his coat and pass him his slippers.
"Did you go out with Butler Santana?"
"Yes, just for a little stroll, I didn’t get out of the car." Jasmine Yale swore earnestly.
"Let’s eat." Sylvan Cheney didn’t say much else.
Jasmine Yale had already proactively served his al by hand, and as he sent the servants away, she had beco his servant.
"But today I t soone, kind of an acquaintance." Jasmine Yale took a bite of fried tofu.
Sylvan’s brow furrowed, a chill appeared in his eyes, and there was a hint of tension in his tone: "Who did you et?"
"It’s not soone I’m too familiar with, but Harper Glorian. Quite the coincidence, she happened to be at the supermarket too." Jasmine Yale spoke at a leisurely pace, "We exchanged a few words; she seed quite envious of ."
"Oh?"
"She said I snagged a wealthy sponsor, and that my clothes looked expensive. She was very envious."
"And what did you say?"
"I think she’s right. I did find a generous sponsor, at least this one hasn’t despised and is willing to provide for . Besides, he’s not that unattractive and passes muster." Jasmine Yale smiled cheerily.
"Jasmine Yale, do you know when you’re the smartest?"
"When?"
"At eight years old."
Suddenly, Jasmine understood the implication in his words, her eyes smiling: "I agree."
But then she felt sothing was off.
Being at her smartest at eight ant... she isn’t as smart as she was at eight?
