The kiss lasted for a long ti.
"We should head ho now," Jasmine Yale reminded him, aware that lingering in the hospital wasn’t a great idea.
"Okay." Sylvan Cheney didn’t press further.
He drove her ho, while Jasmine sat in the passenger seat, cheerful like an energetic little sparrow.
"When the weather gets warr, shall we go kite flying and have a picnic? How about bringing Chale?" She looked at him expectantly.
"Isn’t he grown-up now?"
"Just say yes or no."
"Everything you say is okay."
Jasmine grinned, her pearly white teeth on display, her smile frad by two shallow dimples.
The bright weather mirrored her mood—it was as sunny as the day outside.
She knew he was busy, and when the ti ca, he’d likely only have a little ti to spare for her.
"When we go to Chicago this ti, will we co back?" Jasmine asked.
"We will." Sylvan answered almost without pause, his deep eyes reflecting a steadfast certainty.
"That’s wonderful. Honestly, I’m still sowhat attached to Landon. This is my true hotown, and I can’t bear to leave the flowers and greenery at Cheney Residence behind."
"We’ll co back. It won’t be long."
"That’s good," Jasmine said carefully, and then asked, "Has the court case... been settled?"
These things were sothing Jasmine rarely brought up with Sylvan.
But deep down, she still wanted to know.
"It’s just a minor issue. I’ll handle it."
After hearing Sylvan’s response, Jasmine didn’t pursue it further.
Outside the car window, the streets bustled, full of life on such a bright day.
"Do you want to eat at ho or go out?" Sylvan asked.
"How about eating out today? We’re leaving Landon for a while—I know I’ll miss the food here."
"Alright, what do you feel like eating?"
"Twin City Restaurant’s cuisine. Its Landon-style flavors are so authentic, and I love its courtyard-style setup."
"Since when did you get so picky? Reservations for Twin City are tough; you have to book a week ahead."
"Don’t even try to fool . You’re a major shareholder of Twin City—I saw it in the news," Jasmine retorted, holding onto her seatbelt with both hands and giving him a sharp glance.
Back when she first arrived in Chicago, she had developed a habit of checking dostic and international news regularly.
During Twin City’s anniversary celebration, Sylvan had attended the event.
"Impressive." Sylvan’s fingers lightly tapped the steering wheel, the corners of his mouth lifting into an amused smile.
"You’re treating , right?"
"Fine, I’ll treat you," Sylvan said as he reached out and gently tousled her hair.
The sunlight stread through the car window, flooding the interior with a cozy warmth.
Jasmine propped her face on her hand, squinting slightly as she gazed at Sylvan.
Sunlight cast a soft golden glow over her features, her skin looking even fairer under its radiance, almost like a porcelain doll—pure and flawless.
The sky was a deep blue, clear and pristine.
Jasmine seed unusually cheerful—she began humming a song softly: "Every ti I stand strong in loneliness, every ti I refuse to cry despite the pain..."
She was like a carefree little girl, singing as she played with the small car ornant in her hands.
As she lowered her head, her long lashes cast delicate shadows, and her eyes sparkled with excitent. Her gaze was always like two shiny black grapes, brimming with hope and longing.
When the traffic light turned red, Sylvan stopped the car, allowing his affectionate gaze to drift toward her delicate, radiant face. In his eyes, there was a depth of love and tenderness that couldn’t be shaken.
It was as if cherry blossoms had fallen into the sea, creating endless ripples.
