Jasmine Yale ate a few dumplings then couldn’t eat much more, she’s been having a poor appetite recently, only managing to eat a little of anything.
A few aunties said the dessert she made was delicious, and after having the dumplings, she made so for them too.
"Thank you, Jasmine, the dessert looks really nice, more than enough to open a shop." The aunties were all praising Jasmine.
"I’ll take so ho for my grandson to taste, he’ll be so happy."
"Jasmine, do visit us often, I’ll bring you so specialties from my hotown, don’t be shy with ."
Jasmine mostly didn’t speak much, just smiled.
Jasmine was fair and pretty, the aunties liked her a lot and enjoyed talking to her.
After the al, Charles Mcintosh went to the smoking room to light a cigarette.
Jasmine Yale entered at so point, her eyes swirling with emotions, like tides ebbing and flowing.
At the sound of the door, Charles Mcintosh swiftly turned around, the cigarette still burning between his fingers.
"Mr. Mcintosh..."
"What brings you here," Charles Mcintosh said, "the smoke is thick in the smoking room, young ladies shouldn’t be here."
"Have you found him?"
Charles Mcintosh knew Jasmine would ask, but his heart still skipped a beat: "Don’t worry, we’re looking, we’ll find him."
Charles Mcintosh wasn’t great at speaking in front of young won, nor did he have Aunt May’s skill in changing topics.
"Mr. Mcintosh... you don’t have to lie to ... but I beg you, when you find him, no matter his condition... let see him one last ti... please..." Tears glistened in Jasmine’s eyes.
She clutched the door, her fingers trembling, her shoulders shaking.
Deep down she knew, nearly 20 days had passed, survival was unlikely.
She just feared they wouldn’t let her see him.

"Miss Yale..." Charles Mcintosh’s voice trembled, suddenly unable to control his emotions.
He took a hard drag on the cigarette, trying his best to calm the surging tide within.
"Mr. Mcintosh, promise , okay? Promise ..." Jasmine ca forward, tugging at his suit sleeve.
Charles Mcintosh nodded: "Alright."
"Thank you..."
The small smoking room was filled with a heavy smoke sll.
This place made Charles Mcintosh feel stifled.
He didn’t even know how to face Jasmine Yale, how to face her innocent eyes.
Sylvan Cheney had been missing all along, though the police advised them to be prepared early, he still resisted making those preparations.
He kept the news to himself, and it was him running the Cheney Family lately.
Jesse Rowan occasionally joked, "Why hasn’t Mr. Cheney co around, did he get a girlfriend?"
"Miss Yale, please step outside, the smoke in the smoking room is heavy, it’s not suitable for you here."
Jasmine obediently nodded and went out.
Charles Mcintosh watched her lonely silhouette, slightly tipping his head back, swallowing down the tears that wouldn’t fall.
Just then, his phone rang.
"Director Warner."
"Mr. Mcintosh, we’ve retrieved two more bodies today, a man and a woman, would you... like to co take a look?" Director Warner’s voice was heavy.
Charles Mcintosh shook his head, as if his fears were coming true.
He paused, unable to speak a word for a long ti.
Lately, bodies were being constantly retrieved from the water, and every visit left Charles Mcintosh’s heart empty.
This imnse pressure, invisible, constantly weighed on his heart, leaving him breathless.
