Capítulo 1763: Chapter 1763: Clothes are better when new, but people are better when familiar

The next morning was windless, fogless, and rainless.

Sunlight pierced through the clouds, spilling over everything in Landon, where vibrant green trees were visible everywhere.

Jasmine Yale wore a ginger-colored long dress, a cream white knit shawl, and black leather shoes.

She never imagined she would leave in such a manner, almost escaping, not daring to glance back at the Cheney Residence.

Charles Mcintosh personally ca to pick her up with Butler Santana, driving them to the airport.

Aunt May had a Caesarean surgery to perform and couldn’t make it, but she sent a ssage reminding Jasmine to be careful on the road.

The journey to Cakago was long, and Aunt May urged Butler Santana to take good care of Jasmine Yale.

Jasmine knew Aunt May cared for her, and she was grateful for Aunt May’s ticulous care during this ti.

Knowing Aunt May, she felt lucky.

Sylvan Cheney had bought her many things, especially recently, bringing her gifts every day.

Now, all those gifts were left at the Cheney Residence.

With Sylvan gone, the gifts lost all their aning.

Charles wasn’t one to talk much, and there wasn’t much said on the way, knowing Aunt May had already said everything necessary.

During this ti, Jasmine Yale never asked about Spencer Childe’s fate.

Charles knew Jasmine had contempt for so people.

In this month, Spencer Childe hadn’t been doing well, sitting all day in a wheelchair, dazed, holding Qiana Childe’s photo, doing nothing else.

His n had been detained by the police, leaving him a completely ignored old man.

He probably never thought that at almost eighty, he’d be abandoned by everyone, unable to wield power, with no one currying favor anymore.

With a grandson and great-grandchildren, he could have enjoyed a happy old age, yet he couldn’t forget so gloomy past.

Bearing too much ultimately crushes oneself.

The airport.

Charles took Jasmine’s suitcases inside, saying little, but his deep eyes held an endless lancholy.

“Mr. Mcintosh, Butler Santana and I need to go in for security check now. Thank you for taking us here. Take care,” Jasmine bid farewell to Charles.

Charles tightened his jawline and nodded: “You take care too.”

“Then we’re heading in.”

“Mm.”

Charles didn’t try to stop them; Jasmine and Butler Santana walked side by side to the security check.

Jasmine carried a small bag, while Butler Santana pushed the suitcase.

Gradually, their figures disappeared into the crowd, becoming untraceable.

Charles stood in place for a long while, his heart filled with an unshakeable heaviness.

He turned, found his car, and sat inside, lighting a cigarette.

The sll of smoke slowly dispersed, and he rubbed his temples hard, inhaling deeply.

Sylvan was gone, Lilac Serval was gone, Jasmine Yale was gone.

Landon was left with him alone.

He most missed the days of his early twenties, when ambition brimd, discussing the Cheney Family’s future plans with Sylvan, working on one project after another.

Even with nightly socializing, securing funds everywhere, and being plotted against, sohow everything seed to be easily resolved in laughter.

Back then, the future looked bright, full of hope.

And now? It’s like a movie coming to an end, with people scattering away.

Clothes may not be as new, people not as they were.

Charles took another puff of smoke, engulfed in swirling mist, everything in sight blurred.
