As the sky gradually brightened, the sumr morning arrived early, carrying white morning mist that dispersed with the breeze.

The sun slowly rose from the east, its bright rays spreading over the tall buildings.

Sylvan Cheney couldn’t fall asleep again; he picked up his iPad and sat on the bed to conduct a preliminary review of the project.

During this ti, a nurse ca to take his temperature, which had returned to normal.

However, the nurse kept reminding him not to work, but apart from working, Sylvan Cheney didn’t know what else to do.

He disliked these long hospital stays.

"Mr. President." Kade Yuvan, having had a sleep, pushed the door open, "Today... Ah, why are you working, Mr. President? That’s not allowed; the doctor specifically instructed that you mustn’t work or strain yourself."

"Too much talking."

"But..." Kade Yuvan scratched his head, "But this really isn’t good for your health. If it’s really impossible, shall I keep you company for a chat?"

"What would we even chat about?"

"Then I’ll go buy you breakfast. What would you like to eat this morning?" Kade Yuvan asked.

"..."

Kade Yuvan scratched his head again. What does it an when he doesn’t say anything? Is there nothing he wants to eat?

Sylvan Cheney kept his head down, the exhaustion on his face hadn’t diminished, but he did seem a bit more spirited, with blue stubble growing on his chin. His bright eyes were fixed on the iPad in his hands.

"Mr. President... How about I go buy so porridge? I’ll go to Chinatown, there’s a porridge shop there with great flavors and many varieties, run by people from Landon." Kade Yuvan thought Sylvan Cheney would love it.

But one could never be sure, for this president of his was extrely picky and particular about food.

"The desserts you bought last ti from downstairs at the company weren’t bad." Sylvan Cheney said casually.

Desserts? Kade Yuvan was confused for a mont.

However, he quickly rembered, those desserts!

Those desserts weren’t bought by him at all; they were made by Jasmine Yale!

Kade Yuvan quickly smiled and said, "Mr. President, soone with a gastric bleed shouldn’t eat sweets."

"I was just saying offhand."

"Oh oh." Just saying offhand...

"Next door..." Sylvan Cheney’s fingers paused.

"Miss Yale? Miss Yale is asleep, hasn’t woken up. The caregiver said she’s sleeping soundly, so I haven’t disturbed her."

"Oh."

"I’ll go get porridge for you, Mr. President. I’ve already called Doctor Canary; he’ll co over a bit later," Kade Yuvan said, "I haven’t called Miss Janus yet. Mr. President, perhaps you should call her yourself?"

"Don’t disturb her, she likes to sleep in on Sundays."

"Alright then." Kade Yuvan thought, if there’s no need to call, then don’t. He knew the president cared about his fiancée.

Kade Yuvan said no more, grabbed the car keys, and went out to buy porridge for Sylvan Cheney.

As soon as he left, the air in the hospital room imdiately settled into tranquility; a feeling of emptiness prevailed around.

The curtains were half-pulled, and the morning sunlight seeped through the window, casting a glow on the wooden floor, making it shimr slightly.

Sylvan Cheney glanced at the plan for a while, then put down the iPad and got out of bed.

He pushed open the door to the adjacent hospital room, where a faint dicinal scent greeted him; the curtains were closed, enveloping the room in darkness.

The hospital’s sound insulation was excellent, making the outside world inaudible.

Jasmine Yale was asleep on the hospital bed, sleeping soundly, her small hands clutching the quilt tightly. Though her brows were furrowed, the corners of her lips seed to have an upward curve.

Her hair was a bit disheveled, and the sleeping Jasmine Yale resembled a small hamster devoid of security, curled in a mound beneath the quilt.

Sylvan Cheney stood at the door, his hand resting on the door fra, without entering.

He stood at the doorway for a long ti.
