"If you’ve got the guts, go to the CEO’s office now! I heard Evan is upstairs!"
"Really? Should we go upstairs and take a look?"
"Of course it’s true. Evan ca to the company today. He seems to be in the office a lot lately, especially since the company is working on several big projects."
"Forget it, forget it, we’ll probably get thrown out before reaching upstairs. Let’s get back to work."
The gossip in the office gradually died down.
Jasmine Yale pretended she hadn’t heard it and continued with her work.
At the end of the day, she hurriedly gathered so docunts. She was supposed to report to Sylvan Cheney today about the entertainnt project, which she couldn’t put off any longer. If she delayed further, the next steps couldn’t be taken.
She planned to have a good talk with him tonight.
The autumn clouds were thin, and it was already late, with bright streetlights.
The wind swayed the tree-tops, rustling the leaves which wobbled and fell, scudding along the ground into the distance.
As people trickled out of the Financial City, just as Jasmine Yale was preparing to leave, Sylvan Cheney called her.
"I’m in the parking lot, co over."
"Weren’t you supposed to wait for at the tea house?"
"I told you to co over."
Jasmine Yale knew his personality well, lacking the patience to explain.
She walked to the parking lot despite her pregnant belly.
The black Maybach was parked in a conspicuous spot; Elder Axel wasn’t around, and Sylvan Cheney was sitting in the driver’s seat.
Jasmine Yale got into the passenger seat.
As soon as she placed the docunts on her lap, Sylvan Cheney turned and reached over to buckle her seatbelt for her.
Buckling the seatbelt was an intimate and ambiguous gesture, inevitably bringing them closer.
His fingers brushed against her rounded belly, Jasmine Yale felt as if she’d been electrified, and a shiver passed through her.
"Hmm..." She frowned slightly and looked down at him.
With a "click," he fastened her seatbelt.
"Uncomfortable?" Sylvan Cheney asked.
Jasmine Yale shook her head, "No, the baby just kicked ."
Sylvan Cheney actually laughed, "What does it feel like?"
"A feeling of happiness."
Jasmine Yale rarely saw him smile; when he did, she couldn’t look away.
She smiled back at him.
"Idiot," Sylvan Cheney curled his lips and drove the car out of the parking lot.
It was already late and dark outside, with streetlamps lit, and the square was bustling with people.
"CEO, let report to you the work left unfinished during the day. I happen to have the docunts with ." Jasmine Yale opened the folder, "These days, I’ve been communicating with the design director at the entertainnt place. He’s rejected the two plans I provided, saying they are innovative but lack lasting impact and won’t bring profit to the amusent park. I’ve been telling him my innovations aren’t just made up; I have many cases as precedence, like KS amusent park in Idinburgh, US and Ai Park amusent park in Kyoto, Jopon. I’ve done considerations and comparisons, and made tables."
"CEO, today I want you to look at the analysis and comparisons I did. In my view, they’re done quite well. But since the amusent park doesn’t recognize them, there must be flaws. CEO, you have a keen eye, so perhaps you can give so suggestions."
Jasmine Yale spoke while flipping through the docunts.
Inside the car, only her continuous chatter was heard, like a warbler.
Sylvan Cheney frowned deeply, his gaze fixed ahead.
His distinctly jointed hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, his eyes deep and stirred with a hint of anger.
"CEO, I also brought the research report. I compiled it from various materials."
