“The maple leaves in Kermany have turned red, and I picked this one myself,” Sylvan Cheney’s voice was deep and llow, “After processing, it won’t wither and will stay this vibrant.”
Jasmine Yale looked at the gift and smiled, “CEO, you didn’t go on a business trip; you went on a leisure tour, didn’t you?”
“Giving you a gift, and you still tease ? Hmm?”
“No, no, I really like the gift.” Jasmine Yale looked at the box in his palm, smiling brightly.
“Hmm, this bookmark can be opened.” Sylvan Cheney split the thin gold sheet in two, “You can place the maple leaf inside.”
He placed the red maple leaf in the middle of the gold sheet, then closed it. The fiery red and golden colors blended together seamlessly, with a naturally picturesque charm.
“With the President giving a bookmark, it will be hard not to read properly.”
“Keep it.” Sylvan Cheney put the bookmark back into the box and placed the box in her palm.
“Hmm.” Jasmine Yale embraced the box, her heart full of joy, “Have you had dinner? If not, rember to eat.”
“I ate on the plane.”
“You don’t usually like airplane food.” Jasmine Yale recalled.
“Just filling the stomach, not being picky. If you’re worried I didn’t eat enough or well, you can cook for now. I won’t be picky.”
“Who’s worried about you? You can go.” Jasmine Yale gave him a sidelong glance, “Leave quickly, go.”
People were slowly passing through the corridor. Although it was past nine, there were still a few passersby.
Jasmine Yale had never talked about love with a man in such a public place.
Moreover, in the dim corridor, there was a sowhat illicit feeling.
“Didn’t you say you would give a gift when I ca back?” Sylvan Cheney showed no intention of leaving. He didn’t want to go, stayed still, his gaze fixed on her face.
“Didn’t you say you didn’t want it? If you don’t want it, then there’s none.”
“Little tease, you don’t keep your word.” Sylvan Cheney smiled, a hint of affection in his eyes.
Jasmine Yale blushed as soone else walked by. Their voices, although not loud, nonetheless attracted so glances now and then.
“Sylvan Cheney, are you leaving or not? If you don’t go, I won’t co to see you tomorrow.” Jasmine Yale lowered her voice.
“Then I’ll leave. Co to my apartnt tomorrow morning, and bring breakfast for , okay?”
“I’m pregnant, and you have the heart to order around?”
“Pregnant won should walk more.” Sylvan Cheney, shalessly, raised his hand to ruffle her hair, still sowhat reluctant to part, reflected in his eyes.
“See you tomorrow. Thank you for the gift.” Jasmine Yale shook the box, happiness evident on her face.
“Hmm, get upstairs, don’t catch a cold.” Sylvan Cheney didn’t detain her any longer.
Jasmine Yale reluctantly glanced back at him. He had specially returned early from Kermany for her, and she was very touched.
She thought that the issues she had asked him to consider he likely had given ample thought.
He was a smart person; surely he understood what she ant.
Sylvan Cheney watched her until she got into the elevator, only leaving the corridor when the elevator doors closed.
Jasmine Yale returned to her bedroom with the gift, took off her trench coat, and opened the box.
The shiny golden bookmark looked extraordinarily bright under the crystal lamp, even more beautiful.
She mimicked Sylvan Cheney, splitting the bookmark in two and taking out the red maple leaf from the middle.
Upon closer inspection of the bookmark, she found two small engraved words on the back of the gold sheet, “My Love.”
A warm feeling spread from her heart.
