The effects of the dicine gradually took hold, and Sylvan Cheney’s stomach pain lessened. Soon, he felt drowsy.
Jasmine Yale sat by the bedside, not going anywhere.
The hospital room had a faint sll of disinfectant. The curtains were half-drawn, and sunlight seeped through the window glass like a dazzling display of fireworks, casting bright patterns on the floor.
Jasmine Yale reached out and picked up the teacup.
It wasn’t hot anymore.
“Have so water,” she said, holding the cup and looking at him.
Sylvan Cheney heard her but didn’t respond, frowning, with one arm resting on his forehead.
“Oh,” Jasmine Yale sighed, standing up.
Her movents were limited, so she could only do her best to take care of him, helping him sit up. “The doctor will co to take your temperature in a while. You can sleep after that, but have so water first.”
Sylvan Cheney opened his eyes and stared steadily at her.
Jasmine Yale lowered her head and handed over the cup. “Do you want to feed you?”
Sylvan Cheney didn’t move.
Jasmine Yale understood; did he really want her to feed him?
Just like a child.
She raised her hand and helped him take a sip.
Sylvan Cheney didn’t complain this ti and cooperated more.
He drank half a cup of warm water but then frowned, refusing to drink more.
His gaze was fixed on Jasmine Yale, a clear glow in his eyes, lingering for a long ti.
“I’ll go get your dicine. Stay put,” Jasmine Yale said to him. “If you’re not here when I get back, don’t ever speak to again.”
Sylvan Cheney frowned, casting her a disdainful glance. “I won’t leave.”
“Alright.”
Jasmine Yale stood up, her belly large, and slowly walked away.
Sylvan Cheney’s eyes remained on her. From behind, her figure seed particularly frail, very slim.
Jasmine Yale closed the door and went to get Sylvan Cheney’s dication.
It was truly difficult for her to walk. Sotis, after a few steps, she’d have to rest.
Sothing that would take others ten minutes took her twenty.
Luckily, there wasn’t much of a line, and she quickly got the dicine and walked back to the hospital room.
The doctor was taking Sylvan Cheney’s temperature. It was already done when she returned.
“Doctor, is everything okay?” Jasmine Yale asked worriedly.
“It’s fine, no fever. If there was a fever, he’d need to be hospitalized,” the doctor replied.
“What hospitalization? Even if there’s a fever, no need for that. Making a big deal out of nothing,” Sylvan Cheney frowned, dissatisfied.
Jasmine Yale walked over and gave him a glare. “What do you know? Are you not going to listen to the doctor? Do you really think you’re indestructible? Just a paper tiger still thinking he’s the Bandit King.”
“…” Sylvan Cheney shot her a glance.
The doctor didn’t understand what they were talking about and just laughed pleasantly, “It’s nothing serious. You can go back at any ti, but watch your diet. Also, no drinking or smoking anyti soon.”
With that, the doctor packed up and left the room.
Sylvan Cheney’s shirt had two buttons undone, revealing a strip of his sexy collarbone.
Jasmine Yale poured another cup of hot water, gently swayed it, and took the dicine from the box, preparing to feed him.
“Does it still hurt?” Jasmine Yale asked, her voice softening.
“The stomach doesn’t hurt anymore, but the heart does.”
“Hmm? Does it hurt a lot? Why didn’t you tell the doctor earlier? I’ll call the doctor back for you.”
Sylvan Cheney gave her a sidelong glance. “You were the cause.”
“…” Jasmine Yale rolled her eyes, realizing she’d been tricked.
The water was a bit hot, so Jasmine Yale set down the cup and reached out to button up his shirt. “Don’t catch a cold; having a fever wouldn’t be good. It’s autumn already, the flu is common.”
