Outside the window, the rain was visible, and their reflections appeared clearly on the clean, transparent glass pane.
When Erin Janus looked at Sylvan Cheney, her eyes were full of tenderness.
In the eyes of others, they seed like a loving couple, casually chatting.
Although Sylvan Cheney maintained his usual aloof deanor, Erin Janus’s cheerful disposition matched him perfectly.
"Evan, what do you think is wrong with ? I still don’t know why I’m unlikable, and is what I’ve given you not enough?" Erin Janus, a bit intoxicated, had a sarcastic curve on the corner of her lips. "I am my father’s only daughter. Look, everything my father has will be mine in the future, mine... which ans yours. Isn’t that good enough?"
"Erin, fa and fortune are not my only pursuits, understand?" Sylvan Cheney’s expression was displeased.
"Understood, understood, you city folks sure know how to play. You like pregnant won, right? Why wouldn’t I understand? You even like being a ’surprise dad,’ isn’t that right?" Erin Janus laughed lowly, with a hint of sarcasm.
"Erin, you hope for so courtesy from today, then you should know that respect is mutual. Don’t bla for taking back what I just said."
"OK." Erin Janus stopped, not saying more, as going further would make Sylvan Cheney angry. "Evan, how do you think this dress looks on today? Is it nice?"
"It’s quite nice."
"And do you think I’m beautiful?" Erin Janus looked tenderly at Sylvan Cheney, her eyes burning with desire.
She waited with anticipation for Sylvan Cheney’s answer, her lips slightly upturned.
"You’ve had too much to drink," Sylvan Cheney said lightly.
"I haven’t had too much; I’ve got a good tolerance. How can you not complint even once? All the guests today praise my beauty, but I don’t want their complints; I want yours."
Saying this, Erin Janus leaned forward, pressing against Sylvan Cheney’s shoulder.
One hand holding a wine glass, the other trying to wrap around his neck.
Sylvan Cheney frowned, holding down her arm, preventing her from making any further moves.
"I’ll have soone send you to the room to rest," Sylvan Cheney said.
"Complint , flatter , or else I won’t rest."
Sylvan Cheney showed no expression on his face, glanced at her, and perfunctorily said, "You’re the most beautiful one here."
"Really?" Erin Janus brightened up.
She let go of Sylvan Cheney’s hand and, in high heels, suddenly ran to the center of the crowd from the secluded window side, excitedly shouting, "Did you all hear that? My fiancé said I am the most beautiful woman here!"
Sylvan Cheney shook his head, a faint trace of anger in his eyes.
He disliked such behavior that disregarded his feelings.
The crowd erupted, with many people joining the uproar.
It was already the Janus family’s event, and the guests chid in: "Miss Janus is of course the most beautiful, but alas, she’s spoken for, we can only admire."
"Miss Janus and Mr. Evan should dance together. What an attractive couple."
"Miss Janus, dance a little dance!"
Under the crystal chandelier’s light, Erin Janus, like a Little Princess adored by all, beca the focus of everyone’s gaze.
Of course, so glances were directed toward Sylvan Cheney, but upon seeing his lack of reaction and expressionless face, those gazes shifted away.
The crowd was hyped up, and soone even scattered rose petals toward Erin Janus.
In the brilliant light, Erin Janus lifted her skirt and flashed a charming smile at everyone.
She thoroughly enjoyed this feeling of being the center of attention.
(Wishing everyone a happy Lantern Festival, full of unity, harmony, and beauty~)
