Maybe it’s because I haven’t been out in a long ti, but after walking a few steps, my legs start to feel numb.
"Are you okay?" Yukon Carbon supports her, "My car is parked right at the hospital entrance."
"It’s fine, I can manage."
"Jasmine, your favorite phrase is always ’it’s fine,’ but whenever you say that, I get anxious. Actually, you can tell anything."
Jasmine Yale is taken aback at first, then she smiles: "It’s nothing major, just that my legs are a bit sore."
"Alright, I’ll carry you."
"Hey, put down..."
Before Jasmine Yale can finish speaking, Yukon Carbon has already lifted her and is heading towards the hospital entrance.
He’s wearing a casual denim jacket today, with a faint mint scent on him as Jasmine Yale presses into his embrace, tightly held by him.
Yukon Carbon walks not quickly, but steadily.
"Well... uh... put down, there are a lot of people at the hospital." Jasmine Yale feels sowhat embarrassed.
It’s not the first ti she’s been carried by him; every ti it’s when she’s not feeling well.
"Hold on tight, don’t fall. Of course, I won’t let you fall." Yukon Carbon laughs.
The sunlight shines down, casting shimring silver lights on Yukon’s black hair.
His brows and eyes appear softer under the light, enveloped in an especially tender hue, making him seem less like a man who’s worked for many years and more like a university student yet to graduate.
Jasmine Yale takes another look at him.
Yukon Carbon’s rcedes is parked not far from the entrance.
He carries her to the front passenger seat and fastens her seatbelt.
"Am I heavy?" Jasmine Yale suddenly asks, feeling awkward.
Yukon Carbon is montarily stunned, then finds her imnsely adorable: "Look at yourself, you’ve gotten so thin, even while pregnant. Carrying you feels the sa as before."
Jasmine Yale blushes and says nothing.
Yukon Carbon walks over to the driver’s seat, starts the car.
"When I went back to Cakago, I called you and you didn’t answer. I thought sothing serious had happened. I rushed to your place, but there was no one ho, it really scared ." Yukon Carbon is still uneasy recalling the first ti he t Jasmine Yale.
Back then, she had a high fever, fainting alone in the bathroom.
If he hadn’t arrived in ti, it could have been life-threatening.
"Sorry for worrying you." Jasmine Yale feels remorseful.
"It’s nothing, ever since the first ti I t you, it’s been that way." Yukon Carbon smiles slightly, and under the sunlight, his features appear gentle, with glimrs in his eyes.
His words stir Jasmine Yale’s mories.
Her fingers nervously rub the seatbelt as her eyes fill with indescribable wistfulness.
These years, she has experienced so much. If Cheney had not returned from Lonton back then... perhaps her life would have remained calm.
No deep grudges, no sches and plots, nor close encounters with death multiple tis.
Why did he have to co back then?
If he hadn’t returned, she might have already been married by now, with adorable children, living days that might be mundane, but certainly peaceful and tranquil.
She recalls Sylvan Cheney’s remarks on the phone a few days ago: Jasmine Yale, I’ve never t a woman like you. Fine, no calls? I’m not desperate enough to cling to a woman. Or do you think I can’t live without you?
In this world, anyone can move on without soone else.
Maybe... she and Sylvan Cheney really weren’t ant to be together.
