There are many people on the lawn, both children and adults.
But undoubtedly, Sylvan Cheney is the most striking one.
Perhaps due to Jasmine Yale sitting, Sylvan looked particularly tall to her eyes, focused and attentive while holding the kite string, head raised, always watching the kite dancing in the sky, controlling the length of the string at any mont.
The kite wasn’t easy to fly, as the string was too long to hold, too short to fly high.
The wind blew up the man’s long coat, Jasmine watched, her eyes sowhat misty.
The mottled shadows of the leaves fell upon her face, she sat silently, looking toward the bustling lawn.
The little girl quickly beca familiar with Sylvan, and would sotis tug at Sylvan’s coat, looking up expectantly.
"Big brother, can I fly it?"
"Little one, can you do it?" Sylvan glanced down at her.
"Of course I can."
Sylvan squatted down, handed the kite string to the little girl’s hand, tugged her hand to fly the kite for a mont, then let go.
Little one’s hands were soft and interesting.
The little girl was pleased: "My kite’s the highest, mine’s the highest!"
Sylvan stood aside, hands in his coat pockets, squinting.
The man’s tall and straight shadow cast on the withered yellow lawn, desolate and slender.
After standing for a while, he turned his head, his gaze falling on Jasmine Yale not far away.
Jasmine had been watching this side, and when she saw him looking over, her long eyelashes trembled, and she averted her gaze.
Sylvan walked towards her, his face devoid of much expression, the initial anger and indifference had faded, leaving only calmness.
He sat down beside Jasmine Yale.
Jasmine lowered her head, picked up a fallen yellow leaf from the chair, quietly playing with it in her hand.
Neither spoke, just sitting like that, looking at each other silently.
Sylvan’s phone rang again.
"Hello." This ti, he answered.
"President, the eting at JAT Financial Building is starting soon, I’ve been calling you, but you haven’t answered." Kade Yuvan was anxious.
"Oh, I forgot."
"..." Kade’s forehead was sweaty, forgot? Such a big matter could be forgotten? How careless.
"So, President, will you co over now?"
"No, you handle it for ."
"You’re supposed to speak."
"You can’t do it?"
"It’s not that I can’t, but it’s not good, really not good, you’re disregarding the directors and presidents."
"Can’t find an excuse? Kade, you’ve followed for several months, no progress in intelligence, emotional intelligence is a ss, if this continues, you should train at the grassroots level, what kind of president’s assistant are you!" Sylvan’s words were harsh, "Indecisive, unable to decide big matters, is this the deanor a president’s assistant should have? Such trivial matters, worth asking repeatedly? My phone isn’t a hotline, if you can avoid it, don’t call !"
On the other side, Kade was silent, realizing he’d angered the tiger, not daring to argue further.
"President, I understand, you’re busy, I’ll handle the eting." Kade was sweating.
Sylvan hung up the phone, decisively turned off the mobile.
Jasmine leaned on the bench, basking in the sun, she heard everything, yet closed her eyes pretending not to.
After Sylvan finished the call, he looked at her, thinking she might be asleep.
