When I bought the apartnt initially, I only considered living alone and never thought about getting a girlfriend.
And now, it’s not just about having a girlfriend, there’s a child too.
"No need, I like the small apartnt, anything that doesn’t fit can be sent to my place."
"Can I send your child over too?" Sylvan Cheney smirked, looking at her.
"You heartless dad!" Jasmine Yale punched him, "The little one is so tiny, how can you bear it?"
Sylvan Cheney laughed even more.
He grabbed her hand, "Hmm, I won’t send him away, I’m just joking with you. Even if I sent sothing away, it wouldn’t be the child, right?"
"Exactly!"
Sylvan Cheney started the car and took her ho.
It was night, the weather was cold, a gust of night wind blew intermittently, but the car interior was warm and cozy.
Floating lights everywhere, the city was bustling with lights and festivities.
...
Since that night, Jasmine Yale hadn’t encountered Joan Harry and Jesse Rowan again.
They were often in Landon; that night was truly a coincidence.
On this morning, Jasmine Yale helped Sylvan Cheney with his tie, put on his coat, and escorted him all the way to the apartnt door.
Sylvan Cheney, holding the suitcase, bent down to kiss her forehead, "Be good, it’s only four days. After four days, I’ll pick you up from your place. Rember to eat on ti, wear warm clothes, and take good care of yourself and the baby, okay?"
"Got it." Jasmine Yale still felt empty inside, "You too, if Kade Yuvan isn’t going with you, you need to take better care being alone."
The morning sunlight pierced through the mist, exceptionally bright, even the clouds were a thin and light layer.
Jasmine Yale hadn’t changed out of her clothes yet, she was wearing slippers and loose pajamas.
She held Sylvan Cheney’s arm, reluctant to part.
Sylvan Cheney kissed her cheek again, only then did he open the door, "I’m off to the airport. Call if you need anything."
"Okay."
"Go back to the bedroom, no need to see off."
Jasmine Yale refused, standing at the door, unmoving.
Sylvan Cheney headed towards the elevator, dragging his suitcase.
Jasmine Yale chased him all the way to the corridor.
The elevator door opened; Sylvan Cheney got in, waved at her.
When the door closed, Jasmine Yale’s heart felt emptier, as if a piece was missing.
They’d been together almost every day recently, and after spending so much ti with soone, it’s natural to feel reluctant to part.
The corridor was cold, Jasmine Yale turned back with her big belly.
Without him in the apartnt, she couldn’t calm down no matter what.
She didn’t want to be apart even for a mont.
Sighing, Jasmine Yale quietly went to the bathroom to freshen up, adjusting to the days without him.
Lately, he’d prepare breakfast for her every day; when he wasn’t working, he’d be with her when waking up. Now, on the first day apart, she felt uneasy.
Or perhaps, just minutes after he left, she started missing him.
She’d loved him for so many years, and even now, with a child, she still felt this way.
She knew that when you keep soone in your heart, it’s hard not to feel anxious about gains and losses.
There really was no helping it.
The good thing is, when missing him, she could text him or call him.
Jasmine Yale finished freshening up, tidied the apartnt briefly, and then headed to her own ho with a bag.
On the way, she called Butler Santana, who had already co to the neighborhood entrance to pick her up.
"Miss Yale, haven’t had breakfast yet? I made red bean porridge, fried eggs, and sandwiches, all your favorites."
"Just planned to co back for breakfast freeloading." Jasmine Yale laughed.
"Mr. Cheney went on a business trip?"
"Yes, I’ll be staying here for these few days."
