"Are you courting death?!" Ruan Tianling drew out his pistol and aid it at his forehead.
Qi Ruigang showed no trace of fear. "I’m just stating the truth. I ca across this item unintentionally. Soone sent it to Nangong Yufei, and Mo Lan brought it to et you all. I intercepted her halfway, and naturally, the item ended up in my hands."
Ruan Tianling narrowed his eyes. "You’re telling the truth?"
"Of course. If you don’t believe , you can ask Mo Lan. But I’m curious—who is the child inside?"
"If you want to live a little longer, don’t say things you shouldn’t say, and don’t ddle in things you shouldn’t ddle with!"
Ruan Tianling said coldly and turned to leave.
"Keep a close eye on him!"
"Yes."
The cabin door slamd shut. Qi Ruigang leaned against the wall and scoffed derisively.
***********
Nightfall gradually descended.
Ruan Tianling’s tall and solitary figure stood at the bow of the ship. No one dared approach him.
He gripped the railing, a cigarette pinched between his fingers.
He hadn’t taken a single puff from the cigarette, and it was already burning out on its own...
The sea was dimly lit, yet his gaze appeared even darker and lifeless.
His eyes stared vacantly into the distance, his chest faintly aching.
That child... is that his child?
The child in the video wore a mask; he couldn’t see his face.
Yet his gut instinct told him that the child was indeed his other child...
Dinnerti had arrived.
Jian Yufei helped Mo Lan down the stairs.
Ansel circled around the dining table and walked over, mumbling in confusion, "Daddy said tonight there’s going to be a feast, but I don’t see any feast."
Jian Yufei chuckled, "What he ant by ’feast’ isn’t food."
"Then what is it?"
"It’s more like a taphor—it ans settling accounts with ."
"Daddy is going to settle accounts with you? Mommy, I’ll protect you!" Ansel imdiately declared coolly.
Jian Yufei helped Mo Lan to her seat, and the two of them exchanged smiles.
Mo Lan pulled Ansel closer, happily stroking his head. "Junchen, you’re truly adorable. Auntie is growing fonder of you by the day."
If only she had a son like him.
She had no need for a husband anymore; she just wanted a child to keep her from feeling lonely for the rest of her life.
Ansel’s innocent smile spread across his face. "Auntie could have a child too. I’d teach him lots of things and make sure he’s as smart and adorable as ."
"Ansel..." Jian Yufei glared at him with amused disapproval. "You’re being a bit too self-centered."
"Mommy, are you saying I’m not smart or adorable?" The little guy protested, feeling indignant.
He’d grown very close to Jian Yufei by now. Around her, he had reverted to behaving like a true child.
Jian Yufei loved seeing him like this. Children should be willful and innocent, not overly mature or cold.
"Alright, I admit you’re very smart and adorable. Now, smart and adorable Ansel, could you go find your daddy and bring him over for dinner?"
"I won’t go!" Ansel instantly sat firmly in his seat. "I’m hungry. I want to eat. I’m not going to fetch him."
Jian Yufei knew that Ansel was still feuding with Ruan Tianling. She was about to personally call for him when she saw him walk in.
"You’re just in ti for dinner," Jian Yufei said to him with a smile.
Ruan Tianling also revealed a faint smile, skillfully masking the shadows in his eyes.
"Let’s eat."
He stepped forward and sat down, looking no different than usual.
Even Jian Yufei, familiar with him and knowing him inside out, couldn’t detect the heaviness in his heart at that mont.
