What’s a friend?
"You can’t eat that dog. If you want to eat, Dad will give you sothing else to eat. You can’t eat it, or you’ll have a stomachache."
Oh, eating it will cause a stomachache.
Junqi then gave up the idea of butchering it.
"He understood, so don’t worry about him eating that dog," Ruan Tianling said to Jian Yufei with a smile.
Jian Yufei sighed in relief, "That’s Mo Lan’s dog, Lele."
"Yes. A few of our n have been taking care of it, but there’s been no chance to return it to Miss Mo."
"We’ll return a similar one to her so other day."
Ruan Tianling said, "Let’s go back. Your face shouldn’t be exposed to the wind; it’s prone to infection."
Only then did Jian Yufei realize how terrifying her face looked now. It was badly burned and covered with ointnt, making it even more disgusting and frightening.
Walking in the garden like this, she might scare others to death if she ran into them.
Jian Yufei nodded and then held Junqi’s hand, intending to return.
Ruan Tianling, however, ca over and held her other hand. Jian Yufei glanced at him, and he said with a smile, "Our son won’t let hold his hand; at least you should let hold yours, right?"
Jian Yufei didn’t struggle, "Junqi is actually easygoing. If he starts liking you, he’ll listen to you in everything. You’ll just need to cultivate a bit more sentint with him; once he likes you, he won’t resist being near you."
Ruan Tianling nodded as if taking a lesson, "Okay, I’ll rember that."
Jian Yufei then thought of another child, "How is Ansel now?"
"He’s doing well. Do you want to video call him?"
"Not for now." She’s worried her face might scare the child.
Ruan Tianling noticed her concern; he tightened his grip on her hand and said solemnly, "Yufei, we all don’t mind how you look, and moreover, your face can be healed without leaving any scars."
"I know," Jian Yufei nodded softly.
"But it seems like you have sothing on your mind, sothing different from before."
Jian Yufei smiled softly, "I’m fine, just after experiencing so many things, my mindset has changed."
"What’s different?" Ruan Tianling asked inquisitively.
Jian Yufei’s gaze beca distant, emanating a serene aura, an air of detachnt from worldly affairs.
"It’s just that I’ve co to understand many things, seen through a lot, and then realized that there’s no such thing as a big deal in this world."
Ruan Tianling frowned; what kind of mindset is this?
Is she contemplating Buddhism?
"Yufei, this mindset is not good. While things unrelated to us may not be a big deal, we must still take our own matters seriously."
"What matters?"
"Our family’s future life. Now that we’ve finally reunited, do you not have any plans for our future? For instance, we could have another child, maybe a daughter."
Jian Yufei looked at him; Ruan Tianling’s eyes were particularly earnest.
"I’ve always planned to have a daughter. Have you forgotten our previous thoughts? We must have a daughter."
Jian Yufei also wanted a daughter. She miscarried two daughters, so she and Ruan Tianling have particularly longed for a daughter.
However, her body can no longer bear children.
Even just taking care of Junchen and Junqi growing up is a luxury, let alone having a daughter.
Ruan Tianling observed her silence, nervously asking, "Don’t you want a daughter anymore?"
