Fortunately, the bathroom wasn’t too cold. She quickly took a cold shower and then rolled into bed wearing a simple spaghetti strap nightgown, wrapping herself tightly in the blanket.
She slept until evening.
When she woke up, her head was heavy, and she felt feverish.
She hadn’t been sick in years, and now she had a fever.
Li Mingxi had a lot of dicine stored at ho. She got up, found so dicine to take, and went back to sleep.
The fever quickly subsided, but she still felt terrible. She tossed and turned, unable to sleep, and her stomach growled with hunger.
Li Mingxi wanted to call her family and ask them to take care of her.
But her parents were traveling these days, and her brother Li Mingchen was unreliable, likely enjoying the company of so woman.
She felt a bit alone and helpless.
As Li Mingxi was lost in thought, her phone rang.
It was a call from Xiao Lang. Why was he calling?
They hadn’t contacted each other since he flirted with her that night.

Li Mingxi answered the call lazily, "What’s up?"
"Were you sleeping?" Xiao Lang noticed sothing was off in her voice.
"Yeah, I was sleeping."
It was just past seven in the evening, not really a ti for sleeping.
Xiao Lang didn’t ask much: "Well, you go ahead and sleep then, it’s nothing."
"What’s the point in calling then? What, you missed ?" Even when sick, Li Mingxi’s words carried her usual flirtatious charm.
Hearing her distinctive laughter, Xiao Lang smirked, "No, just wanted to see if you were free to have a drink."
"Are you at a bar?" Li Mingxi could hear the slight buzz of noise in the background.
"Mm."
"I’m not coming, I have a cold. Let’s schedule the drink for another day. Okay, I’m hanging up, bye."
Li Mingxi put away her phone and then sat up.
She felt parched, constantly wanting to drink water. After downing a large glass of water, she felt much better.
Returning to bed, she lay there for a while and fell asleep again.
Not knowing how long she slept, she was groggy when she heard the doorbell ring.
The doorbell was shrill, and she frowned in annoyance, not wanting to answer the door.
But the ringing continued insistently, not stopping until soone opened the door.
This was a high-end apartnt, where any strangers entering would have to be checked by security. If they seed suspicious, they wouldn’t be allowed in.
So anyone who could co look for her without being asked for confirmation by security must be family.
Her family mbers were known to the security guards.
Li Mingxi thought it was her brother Li Mingchen.
She got up irritably, dragging her weak body to open the door.
When she opened the door, it was not Li Mingchen standing outside, but Xiao Lang!
Li Mingxi was quite surprised, "Why are you here?"
Xiao Lang saw she wasn’t in good spirits and said calmly, "You said you were sick, so I ca to check on you."
"How did you get up here?" Li Mingxi asked, puzzled.
Had the security guards started taking bribes not to do their jobs?
"I’ve been here before. The security guards know ."
Oh right, the security had indeed helped bring him up the other day.
Li Mingxi stepped aside, "Co in then."
Xiao Lang followed her inside and, noticing her unsteady steps, asked with concern, "Is it serious? Do you need to go to the hospital?"
Li Mingxi walked into the bedroom, collapsed onto the bed, and wrapped herself in the blanket.
"No, I’m fine," she said, feeling awful but never one to admit weakness.
Xiao Lang reached out to touch her forehead, feeling a slight fever, "Co on, let’s go to the hospital."
