The Ghost Doctor was at a distance from him, tightly bound to the chair.
Staring at Hua Zhongsheng’s face, he sneered, "You’re Hua Langya’s disciple."
"You know my ntor?" Hua Zhongsheng was a bit surprised.
"A legend in the dical community, how could I not know him?"
"Do you have any grievances with my ntor?"
Even though the Ghost Doctor was captured, he showed no signs of fear.
He had foreseen he would get into trouble one day, and he wasn’t afraid of death at all.
"My only grievance with him is that he didn’t take on as a disciple. I specifically sought him out to beco his disciple back then, but he falsely claid he wasn’t taking students. Then, years later, he took you in. Can you say I don’t hate him?"
"How many years ago was this?" Hua Zhongsheng couldn’t help but ask.
"Thirty years ago!"
"Are you telling the truth?!"
"Do I have any reason to lie to you?" the Ghost Doctor scoffed, "When I found out Hua Langya had taken you as a disciple, I’ve been keeping an eye on you two ever since. Back then, I vowed that my dical skills would surpass yours, that I would trample you underfoot!"
As he spoke, the Ghost Doctor’s hatred beca apparent.
However, he found out that Hua Zhongsheng’s dical skills were better than his; no matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t catch up.
"Although you started mid-way, I do admire your talent. But I’m not lacking either, so why didn’t Hua Langya take in?!" the Ghost Doctor asked angrily.
Hua Zhongsheng was a bit stunned.
He was still digesting the Ghost Doctor’s words.
After a mont of silence, he slowly replied, "Because your intentions were not upright, that’s why my ntor didn’t take you in. He was a decent person all his life and couldn’t stand people like you. Instead of repenting, you’ve beco even worse, stopping at nothing to cure people. The outco you face today is your karma."
The Ghost Doctor didn’t think he was wrong; if he knew he was, he wouldn’t have continued this way.
The Ghost Doctor was taken away, leaving Hua Zhongsheng in deep thought.
He rembered that his ntor had told him that he was taken in when he was ten years old.
Afterward, he beca his disciple and lived with him ever since.
Now he was over fifty, aning thirty years ago he was in his twenties.
But why did the Ghost Doctor say he was taken in by his ntor later on?
Whose words were true in the end?
Maybe the Ghost Doctor’s were true.
Because he had lost mories of over twenty years ago...
So, why would his ntor lie to him?
And who really was he?
"Silly uncle, what are you thinking?" Jian Yufei interrupted his thoughts.
Hua Zhongsheng smiled, "Nothing."
He told himself he would investigate his identity once his eyesight recovered.
...
The next day, Nangong Xu’s people ca again.
It turned out Nangong Ruyue wasn’t feeling well, and Nangong Xu invited him over to take a look at her.
Jian Yufei had to accompany him back to the castle.
Nangong Xu was waiting for them in the living room, and when they arrived, he exchanged a few polite words with Hua Zhongsheng before letting the maid lead them upstairs.
And he didn’t follow along.
Jian Yufei and Hua Zhongsheng entered Nangong Ruyue’s room, where she was leaning against the headboard, staring out the window.
She turned her head at the sound, glancing at them with indifference.
However, her glance at Jian Yufei was sowhat complicated.
The maid placed a chair at the bedside, and Hua Zhongsheng sat down, facing roughly towards Nangong Ruyue.
"What seems to be troubling you, madam?"
Nangong Ruyue gestured, and the maid beside her translated, "Madam says she feels a bit short of breath."
