“What has Mr. Ruan been busy with lately?” Bai Shaoming asked indifferently.
Ruan Tianling chuckled lightly, “There are many matters that keep busy, I wonder why Prosecutor Bai is calling .”
“I heard your ex-wife is missing, and you are looking for her.”
“Prosecutor Bai is well inford,” Ruan Tianling noted without surprise.
He had sought out both the Mafia and legitimate channels to find Jian Yufei. It was no surprise that Bai Shaoming had heard about it.
“I know where she is. If you don’t mind, Mr. Ruan, we could make a trade.”
The smile vanished from Ruan Tianling’s lips and his eyes glimred with an icy gleam. “Go on.”
Bai Shaoming said casually, “I’m currently investigating a case and missing a crucial piece of evidence to crack it. If you could step in, I’m sure we could solve it quickly. What do you think of this trade?”
“Whatever the case is, if I can help, I will.”
Bai Shaoming briefly explained the case and, upon hearing it, Ruan Tianling agreed to help.
“Since Mr. Ruan has graciously agreed, I will fully rely on you for this case.” A relaxed smile curled up at the corner of Bai Shaoming’s mouth, the case that tornted him for two months was finally about to conclude.
“Where is my ex-wife?” Ruan Tianling counter-questioned.
“She is in Orchid Town, D City…”
“Shaoming!” Song Xiaotong suddenly barged in, cutting him off, “What are you saying? You shouldn’t speak recklessly.”
She had originally intended to bring him a gift, and arrived only to overhear him on a call. She had decided to wait at the door for him to finish.
From his conversation, she gleaned enough to understand that he knew where Ruan Tianling’s ex-wife was and was planning a trade with this information.
Song Xiaotong knew that her husband was an irreproachable prosecutor who could be cruelly indifferent in order to solve cases.
The fact that he was using the information on Ruan Tianling’s ex-wife for a trade didn’t surprise her.
However, the mont he ntioned Orchid Town in D City, she imdiately sensed sothing was wrong.
Orchid Town, D City wasn’t that where she just ca back from?
Her brain quickly connected the dots to her keychain lying on the bedside table.
Bai Shaoming must have called after seeing the portrait on the keychain, implying that the kind woman who had helped her earlier could very well be Ruan Tianling’s ex-wife.
Hence, she rushed in without a second thought.
“Shaoming, I beg you, don’t say it!” Song Xiaotong pleaded, shaking her head nervously. She didn’t want to betray the woman who had been kind to her; she couldn’t let Ruan Tianling find her.
Her instincts told her that the woman did not want to co back since she had seed relaxed and joyful wonderling around the town.
She obviously loved that quiet little town and had intentionally hidden herself so well that even Ruan Tianling couldn’t find her.
But now, due to her, the woman’s whereabouts had been exposed…
Looking at Song Xiaotong’s pleading eyes, Bai Shaoming remained expressionless as he hung up the phone, standing up to say coldly, “I’ve already told him, so it’s futile to plead with now.”
Indeed, he had already let the words slip out, the re ntion of Orchid Town in D City was enough.
Song Xiaotong was filled with guilt. Tears welled up in her eyes, “How could you do this!”
She dropped the gift and turned to rush towards Orchid Town.
Bai Shaoming caught her hand in one swift motion and pulled her back, causing her to bump against the desk.
