Yue Tingfeng thought more than Yan Qingsi, and he had more logic. If that mastermind really controlled everything that time, then all of Yan Qingsi’s moves and whereabouts for all these years were probably within his control.
It was likely that this person had a hand in Yan Mingzhu’s assassination at the entrance of the hotel in Hai city—perhaps they were the one who orchestrated all of it.
Maybe they wanted to bring Yan Qingsi down a long time ago. Yan Songnan’s death was probably because of them, after all.
Yan Qingsi’s safety would not be guaranteed until the day this person was found. This was the part where Yue Tingfeng was most concerned about and the part where he was most anxious about.
When that person had struck out against Yan Qingsi at first, they had most probably felt that Yan Qingsi already sensed something amiss about her mother’s death, and so they wanted to get rid of her as soon as possible.
However, it was hard to take action again after the first time they failed, so they faded back into the shadows.
Now though, with Ye Lingzhi revealing all of this, they were extremely close to the truth. That person would not sit still and wait. They would probably find an opportunity to strike again soon.
Yue Tingfeng wanted to immediately find out the truth now to help Yan Qingsi get out of that danger zone.
Ye Lingzhi shook her head vigorously when she heard his words. “I can’t do that. I don’t have the ability…” she said, “If this incident was truly so easy to discern, then I wouldn’t have such little knowledge of it after all these years… If I make a mistake, I’ll most likely end up like Yan Songnan.”
Ye Lingzhi’s face was pale. In her eyes, what Yue Tingfeng was asking her to do was practically asking her to give her life away.
“It looks like you know that Yan Songnan’s death is related to that mastermind,” Yue Tingfeng said, nodding his head.
Ye Lingzhi clenched her teeth. “I’ve truly told you everything that I know. If you want to find out more, go find out for yourself. I really don’t know anything. I don’t know anything else…”
Yue Tingfeng flashed a mirthless smile. “So you’re saying that you don’t want your son to ever wake up. Don’t blame me for not reminding you of this, it’s best to throw all the medicine on your son when his brain is still active. If you miss that chance… maybe there won’t ever be another chance.”
Ye Lingzhi’s features contorted. “I-I-I will die.”
“Just give it a try. How do you know if you don’t try? If you really feel that you’re in danger, then you can just stop. I won’t do anything for you if you don’t do your best. It’s a fair trade.” Yue Tingfeng splayed his arms open, speaking as though it were a light-hearted topic.
Ye Lingzhi’s body trembled with rage. He used her son to threaten her, yet he dared to call it a fair trade.
She glared at Yan Qingsi and Yue Tingfeng vehemently. “Fair… Hmph… Fair. How shameless, the fact that you two snakes hooked up together.”
Yue Tingfeng nodded his head. “That’s right. if I had any shame, I really would not have hooked up with her.”
Yan Qingsi stared at Ye Lingzhi coldly. “You should be grateful. Don’t you think that you’re still alive now because you have this one useful point?”
If her mother had not died under such strange circumstances. If she had not wanted to undo the injustice against her mother. If she had just made everything public, she would not have wasted so much thought and time. She would have killed the entire Yan family earlier. How could she let them live until now?
The hatred in Yan Qingsi’s eyes sent chills down Ye Lingzhi’s spine. When Yan Songnan had first brought Yan Qingsi into the family, Ye Lingzhi had wanted to abandon her the first time she saw her—because her eyes were frightening. They were not the eyes of a child…
