"Kill... you?" Xavier slowly frowned his face as he repeated Bull’s words. "Are you out of your mind? Seriously, how stupid can soone be?! Destiny? Fate?! That doesn’t exist!" he hissed. "How could soone like you believe in that?!"
Bull looked into Xavier’s eyes and couldn’t help but chuckle. "You didn’t believe in the Goddess Astrea either, right?"
"..." Xavier was speechless. It was the truth. Even though everyone in his village prayed to the goddess, he never attended a single sermon. His father was the prophet, the leader, but Xavier didn’t pray to the goddess. However, he had never once thought of them as mindless fools. He knew that there must be a reason why they were doing it.
"Xavier, I understand it’s hard for you to fully grasp the concept of destiny and fate. And it’s natural for you to believe it in. But one day, you will experience it and start to believe in it," he said in a calm voice.
"I don’t want to get involved in all this. Please leave out of it." Xavier refused to take the gun from Bull’s hands.
"I will give you an example of what destiny is. If you don’t kill now, Dominic Hart is going to barge inside the next thirty minutes. At the sa ti, this guy..." He glanced at Maximillian who was still unconscious. "He will wake up and try to kill . During that, Dominic will think that I am about to kill this guy and he will shoot . And I will die."
"...! How... do you know that?"
"It’s my last prophecy. I am going to die no matter what. So I want you to kill instead. Although I am not worthy, I am still considered a prophet," he muttered with a distant smile on his face.
"Then kill yourself. You have a gun. Why do I have to kill you? Why don’t you shoot yourself?"
"No, it’s necessary that I die by your hands. I am not forced to do this. I know I am going to die. Even if I hadn’t followed the goddess command and ca to earth, I would have died in space— probably by the hands of the traitor in my team. The prophecy simply helped choose the way I die."
"..." Xavier didn’t know what to say. ’Could there really be such a thing as fate and destiny? If there was, then what’s the point of trying so hard in life?’
"If you think about it, I would have died in that bottomless pit of mine if the goddess hadn’t helped , so my life belongs to the goddess. I am just happy that I lived enough to take the revenge. I understand what you are thinking. You don’t want to kill , but you have to. You awakened your powers a few days ago, right?"
"If by awakening, you an when I heard the goddess’ voice, then yeah." He nodded. "Today is like the seventh day."
’I completed 6 tasks and transactions so far. Ti reset at midnight, so today is the seventh day and I will get a task—’
[Task Triggered- Kill the prophet.]
"...!" Xavier’s eyes widened as the screen of the task flashed before him.
Bull once again raised his hands and handed Xavier the gun. "You have no choice but to kill , Xavier. When a God awakens his power, they have to sacrifice the prophet within a week. And for you, today seems to be the last day."
"What... happens if I don’t... do it?"
Silence.
After a pause, Bull uttered, "I don’t know, but the consequences must be dire. It is for your own good, Xavier. You have to kill a prophet. If you don’t want to kill , then... the only other prophet is..."
"My father..." Xavier completed Bull’s sentence.
"Yes." Bull nodded softly. "Since I am going to die anyway, kill . It’s better that way."
’What’s all this?!’ Xavier yelled inwardly. ’Why am I being forced to kill soone?! There is no way I can even think of harming my father, but...’ Xavier looked at Bull, who smiled at him in return.
"Do not feel bad, Xavier. I am by no ans a good person. I have killed thousands. Even if my kill was justified and out of revenge, a murder is still a murder. Everyone has families, and I killed their fathers, brothers, sons, and husbands. So..." Bull placed the gun in Xavier’s hand and aid it towards him. "Kill so my sins can be forgiven. Dying by your hands is my salvation, Xavier."
Xavier was reluctant, but he held the gun firmly.
After noticing Xavier’s resolve, Bull looked at Xavier with a smile on his face.
"Before you press that trigger, I have to tell you where I have hidden the goddess’ fragnt on earth. Head to any club and make connections to the black market. In the black market, there is a pawnshop. You will know when you see it. Inside, there is a black box, a locker. It is locked by encryption, so you will have to decrypt it.
Once you open the box, there will be the longitude and altitude of a location. Head there and you will find the fragnt of the goddess. I could just put the fragnt in the black box, but it was risky. I have hidden three treasures on earth, and the rest are spread across the galaxy. You can find them if you want. It might help you greatly when you will eventually leave earth.
I have left the location of the treasure with the fragnt of the goddess. And once you get the first treasure, you will find the location of the second treasure there. I did that to avoid my treasure getting stolen. It wouldn’t matter if so of the locations are found, at least, the others would be safe."
Xavier listened attentively. Those were seemingly the last words of Bull.
"I will now tell you the encryption key. It is a 2,62,144 bit key, so it’s very long."
Bull spent the next 25 minutes speaking the key. He was speaking so fast that a normal person wouldn’t understand a word. Yet, Xavier was rembering everything.
After Bull finished, he said, "I wanted to try a higher bit key, but I was afraid I was going to ss up a sequence. Your learning ability should be better than mine since you are a god, while I am just a prophet."
"I have rembered it."
Bull closed his eyes. "Please kill . And make sure that my brain is fully damaged, so they can’t access my mories."
Xavier closed his eyes and pressed the trigger.
BANG!
[Task copleted!]
