"Are you sure?"
The leader clearly didn't believe it.
"Look, there's really no one around!" The lackey opened the door and pointed outside.
It was quiet outside right now; if given a bit of ti, this cautious leader might have actually discovered the flaw. But the key was that he didn't have ti now. Because Hoshiguma, who was in front, had already led her team nearly a third of the way forward.
"Everyone, follow !"
Without ti to think, he led his n and charged out. Just as they ran out the door, they charged headlong into an ambush. They tried to struggle, but against several tis their number of prepared Lungn Guard Officers, they couldn't stir up even the slightest ripple.
Those captured looked extrely disheveled. But each one still had fierce eyes, like bloodthirsty Fanged Beasts.
Then, the officers locked them into different vehicles and, with a tacit understanding, turned off their body caras under the pretext that the mission had ended. By the ti the vehicles reached the Guard Departnt and these people were taken out, their eyes had beco much clearer.
When the people were sent to the holding cells, Wei Yenwu, who had received the news, also arrived.
"Tell the situation!"
Wei Yenwu didn't engage in small talk; instead, he sat in the main seat and looked at the gathered officers. Since Chen Huijie had taken over this case, she began to recount the process. Wei Yenwu nodded as he listened. To be fair, he was very gratified. Because throughout this process, he saw Chen Huijie's growth.
Whether it was never hesitating when it was ti to call for backup, or keenly sensing the danger to her companions, it all showed that she was no longer acting alone relying solely on brute force. She knew how to use her brain and rely on her partners now.
"How are the two injured officers?" Wei Yenwu asked.
"Reporting to the Chief Executive, the two injured officers were sent to the hospital imdiately. We just received word; they only suffered excessive blood loss and a heavy blow to the head resulting in unconsciousness. Currently, there is no danger to their lives," Beatrice stood up and said.
"Very good. Once they are discharged, record a rit for both, promote them by one rank, and give them half a year of leave."
Soone was specifically recording Wei Yenwu's words.
"Next is this Cult of Truth. First, taking down one of their hideouts is an achievent worth encouraging. But it's far from enough. I want you to pry their mouths open and wipe out every single one of them in Lungn. Lungn absolutely will not allow a cult organization like the Cult of Truth to exist. Do you understand!"
After Wei Yenwu finished, everyone stood up straight. "Understood!"
Not far away, little Flandre Scarlet imitated them, puffing out her chest and holding her head high, which made Old Wei chuckle. He beckoned to her.
"little Flandre, co here!"
After she walked over, Wei Yenwu reached out and patted her head. "little Flandre, you did a really good job this ti."
"Hehe, Flandre likes the ga of catching bad guys!" she said with a beaming smile.
Wei Yenwu looked at Chen Huijie; by now, everyone else had left, and those remaining were a few familiar faces. "What are your plans next?"
"Beat the grass to startle the snake, then wait for the rabbit!" Chen Huijie said with a smile.
"It's a good idea. What about the mole?" Wei Yenwu nodded.
"Loose on the outside, tight on the inside; lure the snake out of its hole," Chen Huijie answered.
"The opponent managed to escape last ti without being discovered. Are you sure your plan will succeed this ti?" Wei Yenwu turned his head to look at Chen Huijie.
Then he saw her gaze turn toward little Flandre.
"Flandre and I have an agreent. She will help catch the rats in the Guard Departnt, and in return, I will commission a friend from Victoria to help her buy several books that aren't available in Lungn."
Flandre Scarlet raised her small fist and waved it. "Flandre is super good at catching bad guys!"
Wei Yenwu also revealed a smile. "Then I shall wait and see. I look forward to your good news."
After watching Wei Yenwu leave, everyone began to plan the next phase of the operation. Under Chen Huijie's arrangent, several people were locked into the innermost cells of the Guard Departnt. Then, their daily als were delivered by a designated person.
The interrogation personnel were also personally selected by her, and the materials were sent directly to her. The asures seed incredibly strict. Her strategy was simple: if the spy within the Guard Departnt didn't act, she would obtain information to uproot the cult, leaving the spy nowhere to hide. If they did act, she had laid a dragnet.
This was an open sche, but Chen Huijie was certain the opponent would take a risk. So, in the innermost area, she arranged a gift for them: little Flandre Scarlet.
On the first day, all was peaceful. But in the early hours of the second day, Flandre secretly entered the deepest part of the prison.
5:00 AM. This is the ti when a person's spirit is most scattered. A dark shadow walked into the prison area, carefully avoiding patrols and surveillance. However, he did not open the cell; instead, he took out a small vial. After opening the cap, he silently tossed it into the cell.
Just as he finished, he suddenly felt that he couldn't move a single finger, except for his eyes. Then he saw the door in front of him slowly open. A blonde girl walked out, holding the small vial he had just thrown in. The toxic mustard gas, which should have dispersed, was held tightly inside the vial.
"Caught you, little mouse!"
The newcor recognized the girl—there was no one in the entire Guard Departnt who didn't know the special consultant for the Major Cris Unit.
Precisely because of her ability to identify killers through blood, he had chosen mustard gas to make the "comrades" die silently. But clearly, Chen Huijie had anticipated this and had Flandre wait for the rabbit.
Under his despairing gaze, Flandre Scarlet smilingly took out a walkie-talkie. "Chen Huijie, the bad guy is caught!"
"I'm coming right now!"
Chen Huijie rushed into the prison area with two Lungn Guard Officers. Upon entering, they saw a person standing like a wooden statue while Flandre played with the vials.
"What is this?" Chen Huijie asked in a low voice.
"I took it from the bad guy; he said it was mustard gas."
Chen Huijie's eyes narrowed. "mustard gas! All of these are?"
Flandre nodded. Chen Huijie's expression beca grave.
"Take this guy to the interrogation room. Then have Officer Zhang and Officer Li co to the Major Cris Unit."
After the two put leg irons and handcuffs on the man, Flandre Scarlet lightly pointed a finger, releasing the Hold Person spell. The man's face was ashen.
Watching the man being dragged away, Flandre Scarlet asked, "Chen Huijie, why do you care so much about this mustard gas?"
"Rember I ntioned that several officers were sacrificed during the previous pursuit? They died of mustard gas poisoning. We have always suspected the Cult of Truth has a chemical testing ground. Now that it has appeared again, it confirms our suspicions."
Not long after arriving at the office, the two invited officers arrived. Upon learning about the vials, they showed expressions of deep sorrow; the officers who died back then were their subordinates.
"Officer Chen, thank you for telling us this. We have an audacious request..."
"If you two wish to personally conduct the interrogation, of course there's no problem. But there is one rule: he cannot die, nor can he be crippled; I want him to face the judgnt of the law alive and conscious."
Chen Huijie stared into the old officer's eyes. "If you can agree to this, I will allow it."
"No problem!"
For these old officers, there were plenty of ways to make the opponent suffer without causing permanent injury. Seeing this, Chen Huijie wrote two slips and handed them over.
"Then the interrogation of this traitor is left to you two. I only want results."
Hearing her words, a bloodthirsty smile appeared on their faces.
