Chapter 1069: Just don’t take Tongtong away.
Tongtong fell asleep soon after being coaxed and patted gently by Gu Kai.
Gu Kai carried Tongtong to the bed, and Bai Yiyi lifted the quilt, intending to take Tongtong from him, but Gu Kai avoided her hands. “Step back.”
Bai Yiyi pursed her lips and stepped back, watching as he bent down and carefully placed Tongtong into the bed, then gently covered her with the quilt.
As he stood up and turned his head to look at her, a sudden tightness gripped Bai Yiyi’s heart.
Suddenly, the air in the hospital room seed to grow thin.
She instinctively stepped back again, putting more distance between herself and Gu Kai.
“Let’s talk.”
Seeing her move away, Gu Kai’s handso brows furrowed, and he sat back in his chair.
Bai Yiyi took a deep breath and seated herself again on the edge of the bed.
“If you want to acknowledge Tongtong, I won’t stop you.”
Gu Kai scoffed coldly. She was saying this now because she couldn’t stop him. “I want Tongtong to live with .”
“Impossible.”
Bai Yiyi shot to her feet.
Her eyes were wary as she looked at Gu Kai.
Gu Kai squinted, his gaze sharply fixing on her. “Bai Yiyi, Tongtong isn’t just your daughter, she’s mine too.”
“But she was born after I carried her for ten months. If you want a daughter, why don’t you go have one yourself?”
Bai Yiyi was becoming frantic, speaking without thinking.
In her heart, she was furious; so what if Tongtong was his daughter? He was just a sperm donor. Couldn’t he just see it as a charitable donation?
“It was you who wanted to have my daughter for . If we took this to court, you would certainly lose,” said Gu Kai, pride lifting his brows, his words confident and arrogant.
Hearing this, Bai Yiyi’s face turned pale.
“Gu Kai, you can’t do this.”
“Why can’t I? You deceived first. Since you don’t want to acknowledge my own daughter, then I too can prevent you from being with Tongtong.” A cold smile curled up at the corner of Gu Kai’s mouth. Seeing Bai Yiyi’s face turn pale brought him a bit of satisfaction. “If we take the legal route, it’s obvious I’m more suitable to take care of Tongtong. If you really love her, you shouldn’t deprive her of a better environnt to grow up in.”
Bai Yiyi looked at Gu Kai in disbelief.
She knew very well his words weren’t an empty threat. With her current circumstances compared to Gu Kai’s, if they really went to court, her chances of winning were slim.
She took another deep breath, trying to keep herself calm, and attempted to say evenly, “Gu Kai, you can’t be so selfish.”
“I’m selfish? When my sister was only half a year old, she was stolen away by your father, suffered so much, nearly lost her life. Now, even if you give up your custody rights over Tongtong, it wouldn’t be too much.”
Gu Kai’s words drained the last bit of color from Bai Yiyi’s face.
And the worst part was, she couldn’t refute him.
Because what Gu Kai said was the truth. Whether she admitted Fu Jingyi was her father or not, he was the man who gave her life. If debts could be inherited, she really should pay this one back for him.
If she hadn’t felt guilty, it would be another matter, but guilt had always weighed on her heart.
“What happened back then was my dad’s fault, not yours. But that has nothing to do with Tongtong. You and Miss Fang are getting married—there’s no need for Tongtong to affect your relationship.”
“Why would she affect it? Zhi Wei isn’t as petty as you think. If I tell her, she will definitely accept Tongtong and treat her as if she were her own daughter. If you don’t believe it, I’ll prove it to you.”
Having said that, Gu Kai suddenly stood up.
“Gu Kai, don’t go.”
Bai Yiyi saw him turn to leave and, without thinking, lunged to grab his arm. They had been a few steps apart, but in her desperation, as she grabbed his arm, she nearly fell into his embrace.

He looked down at Bai Yiyi, whose eyes were reddened, and his brows involuntarily furrowed.
“Gu Kai, let’s discuss this further.”
Bai Yiyi clutched onto him tightly. Despite being a fragile woman, the strength of her grip made him feel pain.
It was clear just how nervous she was.
“Discuss what?”
Gu Kai asked coldly.
“Just don’t take Tongtong away. Whatever other conditions you have, I can agree to them.”
Bai Yiyi thought to herself that whether he wanted money or to acknowledge Tongtong, neither were issues. As long as he didn’t take Tongtong away, she was willing to compensate him.
“Is that so?”
Gu Kai narrowed his eyes, his gaze sharp.
“Yeah, really, whatever conditions you have, just na them.”
Bai Yiyi quickly nodded, knowing that if they could talk, there was still a chance.
“Conditions? Alright, let think about it tonight, and I’ll tell you tomorrow.” After Gu Kai finished speaking, he removed her hand from his arm, turned around, and left the hospital room.
When he left the hospital room, it was already past ten thirty.
Taking the elevator down and arriving at the entrance, Gu Kai gave a few instructions to the security guard before leaving the hospital.

On the second floor, soft lighting illuminated every corner of the room, and Wen Ran lay comfortably against the head of the bed, gently stroking her protruding belly with one hand.
After the prenatal music finished, the two little ones inside were still frolicking happily.
Every night around this ti, the babies would start moving more frequently, especially in the previous weeks, Wen Ran was often woken up by their kicks.

Wen Ran smiled and nodded, her eyes brimming with tender maternal love, “The babies are still excited. Unless you say goodnight to them, it seems they won’t be able to sleep.”
“Babies, it’s ti to go to bed, no one is allowed to kick Mommy anymore.” Mo Xiuchen walked to the bedside, bent over, and his broad palm touched Wen Ran’s belly, caressing the babies through her nightgown gently.

After a gentle kiss, he pulled away.
“Ranran, sleep.”
Wen Ran nodded and with his help, she lay back down on the bed, “Aren’t you sleeping?”
“I’ll sleep in a bit, you go first.” Mo Xiuchen’s lips curled into a doting smile as he sat on the edge of the bed, holding her hand gently, “Ranran, sleep. I’ll stay with you.”
“Okay.”
Wen Ran responded and closed her eyes.
Only after she truly fell asleep did Mo Xiuchen enter his study.
He was about to call Gu Kai when his phone rang first. Seeing that it was Gu Kai calling, the corners of Mo Xiuchen’s mouth lifted slightly and he pressed the answer button with a long finger, his voice deep as it slipped from his lips, “Hello, Ah Kai.”
