Chapter 1080: Saying one thing but aning another
“I’m now in D Country, Yuting has given birth.”
“Is that so, then congratulations on becoming a father.”
Mo Xiuchen’s tone was very indifferent, not sounding sincerely congratulatory towards Jiang Liu but rather as if he were saying, just get to the point if there’s sothing important, and don’t bother if there isn’t.
“Yuting is having surgery tomorrow. Right now, I want to say a few words to you.”
On the other end of the phone, Jiang Liu was silent for a few seconds before stating the purpose of his call.
“What does her surgery have to do with ?”
Mo Xiuchen’s expression darkened, asking displeasedly.
“Yuting wants to erase her mories of you. After surgery tomorrow, she won’t rember you anymore.”
Erase mories?
Mo Xiuchen was slightly startled. Such surgery was still experintal. He rembered how, back then, Fu Jingyi had sabotaged his surgery, causing him to lose his mory.
“Is she really going to erase her mories?”
Mo Xiuchen asked, his voice tinged with doubt. Whether Shen Yuting was undergoing such surgery because she could let go, or couldn’t.
“Really. She said that only by erasing her mories of you could she start a new life.”
Jiang Liu probably wasn’t calling in front of Shen Yuting. “Mo Xiuchen, these past few months, Yuting has been controlling herself, not disturbing you and Wen Ran’s life. She’s having her surgery tomorrow, she just wants to say a few words to you. If you don’t believe , call Gu Kai. He arrived this afternoon too.”
Gu Kai had been abroad on a business trip for almost a month.
Upon hearing that Gu Kai was there too, Mo Xiuchen hesitated before replying in a deep voice, “Alright, give the phone to Shen Yuting now.”
“Wait a mont, I’m calling from the hospital corridor.”
Footsteps could be heard through the phone, followed by the sound of a door being pushed open into the hospital room.
A mont later, Shen Yuting’s hesitant voice ca through, “Mo Xiuchen.”
Across the Pacific Ocean, Shen Yuting’s emotions were turbulent and complex. On this end, Mo Xiuchen’s response was indifferent as water, simply letting out a nonchalant “Hmm” through his nose.
“Mo Xiuchen, my cousin told Ranran is nearly eight months pregnant with girl and boy twins. Congratulations to you both.”
Mo Xiuchen didn’t speak, just sneered, and when he looked towards the woman beside him, the indifference in his eyes was replaced by a trace of tenderness.
“Mo Xiuchen, I’m sorry, I did many things that hurt you and Ranran in the past. I know you tolerated ti and ti again for my cousin’s sake… These past few months abroad, I’ve been trying hard to forget you, but even until the birth of the baby, I couldn’t drive you out of my heart.”
Mo Xiuchen moved the phone away from his ear, only able to hear Shen Yuting speaking, but he couldn’t make out exactly what she was saying.
Beside him, Wen Ran gently caressed her belly with a tender look, playing happily with the baby. The two little ones moved less, but seemingly, they were more playful than before.
After hanging up the phone, Wen Ran asked:
“What did Sister Ting say to you?”
“I don’t know, I wasn’t listening. Jiang Liu said she’s having surgery tomorrow, to delete mories.”
Mo Xiuchen had not used speakerphone when answering Jiang Liu’s call, so Wen Ran didn’t know what had been said. Hearing this, she opened her eyes wide in astonishnt.
“Erase mories? Didn’t Jiang Liu say she gave birth? If she loses her mories, what about her child?”
Wen Ran asked, surprised.
“That’s also Jiang Liu’s child, he will take care of it.” Mo Xiuchen’s tone was very indifferent. It was Shen Yuting’s affair, and Jiang Liu most likely supported her.
This matter can’t exactly be labeled as good or bad. Shen Yuting felt that she needed to erase her mories to start anew, and Jiang Liu probably wished she’d forget the past, keeping no one in her heart.
“I heard from Jiang Liu that Ah Kai went to see Shen Yuting.”
“My brother?”
“Yes, your brother has always treated Shen Yuting as his own sister, despite the many things she’s done to hurt him in the past. Still, he cares about her,” Mo Xiuchen explained gently.
During the years when Gu Kai was searching for Ranran, he treated Shen Yuting as his own sister, caring for her deeply, except for not allowing her into Ranran’s room. Everything else was faultless.
“I know, if she wants to delete her mories, then let her delete them. If she can truly start over, she and Jiang Liu might still have a chance.”
Wen Ran smiled faintly and changed the subject, “My brother has been abroad for a month now; he should be back soon, right?”
“The day before yesterday, I heard Dad say that Ah Kai might return to the country after a week. Do you miss him?” Mo Xiuchen asked teasingly toward the end.
He stood up and pulled Wen Ran to her feet, “Looks like it’s going to rain. Let’s go ho.”
The two of them walked back to the villa, holding hands. Wen Ran nodded, “It’s been a month since I saw him, and I do miss him. But soone misses him even more.”
“Are you talking about Fang Zhiwei?”
Mo Xiuchen smiled knowingly; a trace of sothing unusual flickered in his deep eyes.
“Mm, Sister Wei ntioned the other day that before my brother went on his business trip, he said he’d be back in just over twenty days. Now it’s been a month, and he’s still not back.”
“These things can’t really be scheduled precisely. Ah Kai certainly didn’t want it to take this long. Fang Zhiwei must be anxious to marry Ah Kai, waiting for him to co back so they can discuss their wedding plans.”
The last ti at Kangning Hospital, Shen Yuting proposed to Gu Kai, and he accepted.
However, Gu Kai left on a business trip just a few days later.
The wedding date and such had no chance to be discussed.
Wen Ran laughed, “You’re right, Sister Wei is eager to marry my brother, especially after learning about Tongtong’s background.” As she said this, her smile faded, and she stopped walking, looking up at Mo Xiuchen, “By the way, Sister Wei also asked if my brother made Yiyi vow to never marry in this lifeti.”
“Didn’t Ah Kai tell her? Why did she ask you?” Mo Xiuchen inquired gently.
Wen Ran furrowed her brows, continued walking forward, and as the two held hands and entered the villa, Mo Xiuchen softly said, “Ranran, wait for a mont.”
He released her hand and strode towards the garden.
Wen Ran blinked in confusion and followed him. Mo Xiuchen plucked a budding red rose and, holding it with both hands, presented it to her, “Ranran, this is for you.”
“Thank you.”
Wen Ran smiled happily.
Her Mo Xiuchen always managed to surprise and move her at any given mont.
A rose might not be expensive or a particularly precious gift, but as long as it was from Mo Xiuchen, she loved it.
“Actually, you are far more beautiful than this rose.”
Mo Xiuchen lowered his eyes, whispering in her ear, which drew giggles from Wen Ran, “Flatterer.”
“Ranran, I’m speaking the truth, you really are prettier than this rose.”
Mo Xiuchen gazed at her earnestly and bent down to kiss her forehead. Taking her by the hand, they walked towards the living room. “Did you tell Fang Zhiwei when she asked you?”
Wen Ran sniffed the rose before answering, “She asked, so naturally, I couldn’t keep it from her. I told her about the condition my brother proposed to Yiyi. Guess who told her?”
