Gu Kai patiently explained, “No, when you were calling, I was at Ah Jin Factory, didn’t know it was about this matter, so I didn’t answer your call.”
“You were at Ah Jin Factory, weren’t you dropping Bai Yiyi off for work?”
Mo Xiuchen is an extrely astute person.
Without Gu Kai ntioning a word about Bai Yiyi, he guessed as if he had seen it with his own eyes.

Mo Xiuchen’s teasing earned a frown from Gu Kai, “I just worry that because of last night’s events, those reporters might eventually dig up Tongtong’s background.”
“Then stop them from looking further. Your matter isn’t that significant. A word of warning, and they’ll shift focus as soon as there’s other news.”
After a mont of contemplation, Mo Xiuchen added, “Unless you publicly reveal Tongtong’s background before the reporters dig it up.”
“I don’t want to expose Tongtong to the dia.”
Gu Kai raised his hand to rub his forehead, knowing very well just how special Tongtong’s background was. With the news of his breakup with Fang Zhiwei now public, the journalists were all chasing him with questions about a possible third party involved.
He didn’t believe that letting the dia know about Tongtong being his daughter would be good timing amidst this situation.
“Let it be then. Just silence those reporters for now, and in a few days, the issue will fade.”
Gu Kai returned to his office where his father Gu Yan was waiting for him.
“Ah Kai, what’s the deal with that video online?”
Gu Yan looked at his son in puzzlent; after witnessing the scene at the hospital entrance, he had co straight to his office.
Gu Kai settled down on the couch with a gloomy face and spoke flatly, “It’s just as the internet says. Last night at Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion, I coincidentally saw a man trying to take Fang Zhiwei away by force, so I got involved and hit him.”
“Ah Kai, didn’t you break up with Fang Zhiwei? Why would you hit soone over her? You’re not usually impulsive. Could it be that you’re still in love with Fang Zhiwei?”
Gu Yan was increasingly baffled by his son.
Gu Kai looked at his father with amusent, “Dad, the situation was special. The guy is a despicable scumbag. Although Zhi Wei and I have split up, I couldn’t just watch her being bullied. And I didn’t expect soone to film it and post it online.”
It was his oversight.
“Luckily, the comnts online are all criticizing that man.” Gu Yan furrowed his brow and said, “With this commotion, your breakup with Fang Zhiwei is going to be the talk for several days.”
“I’ve just called Mo Xiuchen, and he said the video online has been deleted. As for the dia, I don’t want them writing nonsense.”
Gu Yan nodded, “I’ll give a call to the dia in a bit.”

The contract was signed smoothly. After leaving the eting room, Wen Jin and the marketing manager took CEO Zhang and Qian Songnan to the workshop. Bai Yiyi was not asked to follow but was instructed to return to the office.
Back in the office, Bai Yiyi booted up her computer to work.
However, her phone rang at that mont, the caller ID displaying Fang Zhiwei’s na.
A trace of surprise flashed in Bai Yiyi’s eyes. A phone call from Fang Zhiwei?
“Hello, Sister Wei,” Bai Yiyi answered the phone, her voice warm and gentle.
“Yiyi, have you seen the video online?” Fang Zhiwei’s voice ca through the phone with a hint of repressed emotion. Bai Yiyi was taken aback, confused, “What video?”
Her eyes flickered as she switched her phone to her left hand and reached for the mouse with her right to open a webpage.
On the other end of the phone, Fang Zhiwei said, “It’s the video of Ah Kai hitting soone last night at Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion. Soone captured it and posted it online. Just now, reporters ambushed Ah Kai at the hospital entrance.”
Bai Yiyi secured the phone between her shoulder and cheek, typing a line of text to search…
“Sister Wei, it’s gone. It’s been deleted.”
“It’s been deleted? Yiyi, I just wanted to tell you not to get the wrong idea about last night. Ah Kai hitting that man was because he went too far.”
Fang Zhiwei paused, sowhat surprised that the video had been deleted so quickly.
Bai Yiyi chuckled to herself, thinking Fang Zhiwei’s words didn’t sound like an explanation. It rather seed as if she was implying that Gu Kai still had feelings for her because he was willing to fight for her.
She was not angry, nor would she misunderstand or feel upset.
Because she didn’t love Gu Kai. She only felt pity for Fang Zhiwei, knowing well that Gu Kai didn’t love her anymore, which was why he broke up with her. Why degrade herself so?
A woman who should be graceful and beautiful, humiliating herself for a man, yet unable to win his love.
“Sister Wei, don’t worry. I won’t misunderstand,” Bai Yiyi said with a slight smile on her face, speaking softly, “Even though you and Gu Kai have broken up, you’re still friends. If he had actually been indifferent when he saw you being bullied, I wouldn’t dare be with him.”
Considering Gu Kai had helped her last night, Bai Yiyi decided to lie for him just this once.
“Yiyi, have you accepted Ah Kai’s proposal?”
Fang Zhiwei hesitated, her voice tinged with nervousness.
Bai Yiyi suddenly realized, rembering that she had said Gu Kai had confessed to her the night before last, and she hadn’t accepted. Now, it seed she might have said sothing wrong.
She chuckled, “Not yet, but seeing how cool he was punching that jerk last night, I’m thinking maybe I should accept him.”
Bai Yiyi wanted to applaud her own acting skills. She paused briefly, not waiting for Fang Zhiwei to respond, and continued, “Sister Wei, you might want to look into the other party’s background before you go on a blind date next ti.”
“Yeah, Ah Kai said the sa thing last night. Yiyi, there’s sothing else I think you should know.”
“What is it?”
Bai Yiyi picked up a docunt from the file rack, flipping through it as she listened to Fang Zhiwei say, “When I arrived at the hospital just now, I ran into reporters surrounding Ah Kai. I told them that Ah Kai and I had already broken up. Then, the reporters asked whether we broke up because of a third party.”
Upon hearing this, Bai Yiyi’s motion of flipping through the paper halted, her brow furrowed slightly, as the voice on the other end continued, “At the ti, I was only thinking about getting them to stop bothering Ah Kai and I overlooked that these reporters are the type to dig deep. Yiyi, be careful when you’re around Ah Kai, don’t let people see you.”
