Qin Mu is now solely focused on taking responsibility for An Lin.
He has no idea that Mo Xiuchen, the old fox, is scheming to watch the drama unfold.
"Good, I’ll also go to G City."
After hanging up the phone, Mo Xiuchen’s lips curve up in a pleased smile, no longer caring to review any client company’s financials, only thinking about sharing the good news with his Ranran as soon as possible.
He dials Ranran’s number and picks up the cup again, twisting off the lid to take a drink of water.
When Wen Ran’s gentle voice cos through the earpiece, Mo Xiuchen had just taken a sip of water and hastily swallows, "Ranran, I have good news for you. An Lin won’t be going back to get married, she and Ah Mu spent last night together, and Ah Mu insists on taking responsibility for her now."
"Did Qin Mu call you?"
Wen Ran asks with a chuckle, unaffected by the news, and Mo Xiuchen’s eyes flicker, "Ranran, you knew already? It seems An Lin called you. I was thinking of being the first to share this great news with you."
"Yeah, An Lin called ."
Wen Ran explains softly, and Mo Xiuchen laughs again, "An Lin was originally resigning to go ho and get married. Now she has broken up with that man and doesn’t want to work in City C. Ranran, try to persuade An Lin to work in G City when the ti cos. Ah Mu will also co back to G City."
"Sure."
Wen Ran agrees readily, and Mo Xiuchen continues, "Ranran, I’ve canceled my engagents for this evening and will co ho for dinner. Ah Mu will be back this afternoon too. Could you call Ah Kai, Ah Jin, and the others, and have them co over for dinner at our house tonight? The more people there are, the less awkward it will be for An Lin."
"Okay, I will call them in a bit."
Regardless, it’s good that Qin Mu is willing to take responsibility for An Lin, and An Lin likes Qin Mu. It’s good for them to try being together.
Though Mo Xiuchen is watching for amusent, his ultimate hope is for Ah Mu to start liking An Lin as they spend ti together.
For the two to eventually fall deeply in love.

At noon, just as she was finishing work, Bai Yiyi received a call from Doctor Gu.
Bai Yiyi glances at the caller ID and tosses her phone aside, not picking up.
A few minutes later, Gu Kai’s tall and handso figure appears in her office, "Why aren’t you answering your phone?"
Bai Yiyi keeps her head down at the computer, not lifting it as she curtly replies, "Busy with work, no ti for calls."
Gu Kai scoffs, strides forward, leans down, and turns off the power to Bai Yiyi’s computer.
Dominantly seizing her wrist, he pulls her out of her chair, "It’s lunchti now. Ah Jin isn’t the kind of heartless boss who would stop you from eating."
"Gu Kai, you’re insane. I just finished fixing that..."
"I’ve told you before, stop mistreating your stomach. You skip als just to spite . Don’t worry, your data autosaves a backup. If sothing happens to your stomach, it’s Tongtong who suffers."
Gu Kai, with a stern face and without saying another word, strongly pulls Bai Yiyi toward the doorway. As he reaches out to open the door, Bai Yiyi surrenders, "Fine, I’ll go eat. Let go of first; I don’t want people to see us and start gossiping."
"Everyone else has already left. You think they’re all like you, working overti after hours?"
Gu Kai doesn’t believe Bai Yiyi will obediently follow him, so with one hand holding the door and the other gripping her, he leads her out of the office. They run into Wen Jin coming out of the next office.
"Ah Kai, Yiyi, what’s this?"
Wen Jin’s gaze sweeps over the hands held by Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi, which to him, looks enlaced.
A smile plays on his lips, his tone holding a hint of teasing.
"I’m taking her to have lunch. Ah Jin, you’re just getting off work too?"
It’s already ten minutes past the end of the workday. It’s no wonder the secretary is also leaving late with a boss like that.
"I just got a call from Ranran. We chatted for a few minutes about having dinner at her house tonight, and that’s why I’m late."
Wen Jin shrugs innocently.
"Ranran also inford , it seems Ah Mu and An Lin will be coming to G City this afternoon."
Gu Kai laughs, joining in the conversation, whether deliberately or not, he doesn’t loosen his grip on Bai Yiyi’s wrist.
"Mm, maybe there’s sothing going on between Ah Mu and An Lin." Wen Jin smiles ambiguously, "You two better hurry up and go eat."
"Do you want to join us?"
Gu Kai raises an eyebrow. Ranran only asked him to co to her house for dinner in the evening, ntioning Qin Mu and An Lin’s return without further details.
Now it seems Ah Jin knows so secret he’s unaware of.
"No, that’s alright, I’ll check the cafeteria. I still need to co back to work a bit more at noon. You two go ahead."

In the restaurant
Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi sit across from each other. Noticing that he has ordered all light dishes, Bai Yiyi feels slightly puzzled and says with pursed lips, "You don’t have to cater to deliberately. I heard from Ranran that you really like spicy food. Order whatever you want."
"Do you want another stomachache?"
Gu Kai looks up from the nu, lifting his gaze slightly toward her as he hears her words.
Bai Yiyi chokes on her retort, decides not to speak further, and picks up the cup in front of her to drink water.
Gu Kai closes the nu and tells the waiter, "That’s all, make it quick."
"Okay," the waiter takes the nu and leaves.
"Tongtong is having a great ti at Ranran’s house. You don’t have to worry about her. Eat more later, don’t always look like you just ca out of a refugee camp."
When the dishes are served, Gu Kai doesn’t forget to tease as he picks up his chopsticks.
Bai Yiyi glares at him, takes a bite of the food, chews it slowly, and then says, "I’m completely at ease with Tongtong at Ranran’s house. As for whether I look like I ca out of a refugee camp, that seems to have absolutely nothing to do with you. If you find it displeasing, feel free to pay and leave."
Gu Kai chuckles at her words, his eyebrows lifting arrogantly, "Bai Yiyi, such wishful thinking. With this whole table of delicious food, do you expect to just pay and leave? Are you a pig, able to eat all this?"
"Hmm, right, if you pay and leave, I wouldn’t mind being a pig." Bai Yiyi’s response is both sarcastic and challenging as she looks at him.
"Your language arts must have been taught by your math teacher. It’s ’a pig,’ not ’one pig.’"
"I’m a pet pig, a cute and charming ’one pig,’" Bai Yiyi replies with a mischievous grin, picking a bit of food from every dish onto her plate, "All these food have been tried by . Are you sure you want to eat pig food, Doctor Gu?"
"Childish!"
Gu Kai snorts, not minding about eating the ’pig food.’
He picks up his food with contentnt, his lips curling into a satisfied smile, "If the chef hears you calling his food pig food, he’ll surely kick you out."
"I’m not afraid. Worst case, I’ll go for street food."
Bai Yiyi raises an eyebrow. In fact, she would rather eat street food alone than dine with this snarky man, always on guard for his biting remarks.
