Chapter 1288: Making rapid progress
Wen Ran and An Lin sat in the car without getting out.
The phone vibrated in her hand, and she imdiately answered the call when she saw the caller ID, “Brother.”
“Ran Ran, why did you co to the factory instead of staying at ho with the kids?”
Wen Jin walked a few steps towards the second workshop, then stopped, standing in the factory area, gazing into the distance.
“Brother, I couldn’t help but worry. This morning, I watched TV and saw those patients’ families being so aggressive.”
Wen Ran’s voice ca through, filled with deep concern and care. A hint of warmth flickered in Wen Jin’s cool eyes as he spoke gently, “The incident has not been clarified yet. The patients’ families think our dicine hard their loved ones; their attitude is quite normal under the circumstances. Ran Ran, didn’t Mo Xiuchen tell you? He and Ah Kai went back to Kangning Hospital. They might find the cause soon, so don’t worry. Go back ho.”
“Brother, I know I can’t be of much help, but I just can’t help worrying and wanted to co and see for myself.”
Hearing the guilt in Wen Ran’s words, Wen Jin’s voice beca even more tender, “Ran Ran, who says you can’t help? Just coming here and taking a look is already helping. Be a good girl and go ho. Yiyi is going to be busy these next few days; I’m not comfortable with the nanny looking after her alone, and you need to take care of Tongtong as well.”
Wen Ran has not worked for over a year. Maybe, in others’ eyes, a woman not working and just looking after children seems very relaxed and aningless.
But Wen Jin felt very sorry for Ran Ran; she is still so young. Girls her age are mostly unmarried and living freely.
Yet Ran Ran beca a housewife because of the kids.
Having twins was already exhausting enough, yet that guy Mo Xiuchen wouldn’t let him adopt Xin Xin, and stubbornly added another burden on Ran Ran.
“I know, don’t worry. I will take good care of Tongtong. Brother, I won’t go into the factory then. You should go get busy. I’ll call you this evening.”
Wen Jin slightly curved his lips, “Go back. I will give you a call tonight.”
“Ran Ran, shall we go back ho now?” An Lin asked Wen Ran after she finished the phone call.
Wen Ran looked out of the car window, hesitated and said, “Let’s go back. There are so many people at the factory gate. If we go now, we can’t help anyway. Oh, I forgot to ask if they had lunch.”
Towards the end, Wen Ran wore a look of regret.
An Lin had been watching for a long ti and hadn’t seen Qin Mu. She already felt an underlying sense of loss, and hearing Wen Ran’s words, she couldn’t help but worry whether Qin Mu had eaten.
“Let call Ah Mu and ask,” An Lin suggested.
Wen Ran nodded and urged, “Right, Qin Mu is with my brother. An Lin, call him quickly and check, in case they haven’t eaten we can go buy sothing for them.”
“Okay.”
An Lin took out her phone and dialed Qin Mu’s number. It rang several tis with no answer.
Just as she was about to hang up, Qin Mu answered the call, “An Lin, I’m a bit busy right now, I’ll call you back later.”
After saying that, he hung up the phone.
An Lin stared at the disconnected call, lasting less than ten seconds, feeling a wave of disappointnt.
Wen Ran’s eyes sparkled, and she comfortingly said, “An Lin, Qin Mu must be really busy. Let’s go back; it’s a wasted trip.”
“He said he’d call after he’s done. It seems we can only go back now.” An Lin took another look at the factory entrance. Even though it was crowded, she shouldn’t miss Qin Mu with his height.
It seems he wasn’t at the factory entrance but sowhere else.
“He said he’d call you after he’s finished? An Lin, your relationship seems to be progressing at lightning speed.” Wen Ran saw the disappointnt in An Lin’s eyes and teased her on purpose.
An Lin gave her a reproachful look, “Don’t talk nonsense.”
“I’m not talking nonsense. Forget it, we’ll talk when I get back,” Wen Ran finished speaking and then instructed Little Liu to drive.

In the evening, An Lin kept Wen Ran company.
It wasn’t until after she had put the three little treasures to bed that Mo Xiuchen called, telling Ranran to go to sleep first, as he would co back later.
“An Lin, you can go back. Mo Xiuchen said he’s with Qin Mu and my brother, and they won’t be back until late,” Wen Ran said.
“I’ll stay here with you,” An Lin imdiately refused her suggestion without a second thought.
With a slight smile, Wen Ran cheerfully said, “I don’t need your company, you should go back quickly. I promised Mo Xiuchen I would let you go ho first. Later, Ah Mu will go directly ho, he won’t co here to pick you up. You should hurry up and go back to wait for him.”
“Who said I was waiting for him.” An Lin glared at her, her face flushing as she perhaps recalled the passionate scenes from the night before.
Wen Ran narrowed her eyes and tilted her head as she looked at her, “An Lin, stop daydreaming here. What’s most important for you now is to make Ah Mu unable to live without your body.”
“Ranran, you really are…” An Lin pretended to hit Wen Ran, but Wen Ran dodged and stepped two paces away, waving her hand, “Go on, I’m getting ready for bed.”
“How heartless, fine, I’ll leave then.” With a pout, An Lin really turned and walked towards the door.
Wen Ran followed her out, sending An Lin out the door, watching Little Liu drive off from the villa before she turned back to the living room.
Upon returning to the master bedroom, she imdiately turned on the TV to watch the latest news.

At half past eleven at night, people at Wen’s Pharmaceutical Factory were still not off work.
Wen Jin glanced at the tired expression of Professor Li and then looked at everyone else, saying wearily, “That’s it for today, you all go back.”
Mo Xiuchen’s gaze swept over the experintal equipnt in front of him, and he said to Qin Mu, “Ah Mu, I asked An Lin to go ho first, you don’t have to go to my place, you can just head back.”
“Okay,” Qin Mu nodded.
Seeing that Wen Jin had no intention of leaving, Mo Xiuchen frowned slightly, stepped forward, and snatched the item from his hand, “It’s too late today, don’t keep at it, go ho and rest. We have important things to attend to tomorrow. Professor Li, let’s wrap it up.”
Wen Jin was actually planning to let them go ho and then stay a bit longer himself.
But seeing Mo Xiuchen’s domineering montum, he pressed his lips together and lightly nodded.
A group of people ca out of the lab, and before they reached the parking lot, Wen Jin’s cell phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, his eyes shimred, and he pressed the answer button, “Hello, Ah Kai.”
“Have you not finished work yet?”
Over the phone, Gu Kai’s voice ca through the night air, low and somber.
Wen Jin glanced at Bai Yiyi walking beside him and said indifferently, “Just finished work, about to head ho. What about you, still in the lab?”
“Yeah, I’m planning to pull an all-nighter to find the cause,” Gu Kai said with a tone that carried a mix of heaviness and determination. After a slight pause, without waiting for Wen Jin to speak, he added, “I just called Ranran, the nanny has already picked up Tongtong, you tell Yiyi she doesn’t need to go to her place, she can just head ho.”
“You tell Yiyi,” Wen Jin said and handed the phone to Bai Yiyi next to him.
