Bai Yiyi’s mouth twitched.
It was exactly Gu Kai, that cuckoo usurping the nest, who still smiled and chid in: “You didn’t sleep last night either, why don’t you co up too, the bed is plenty big anyway.”
“I’m not tired.”
Bai Yiyi frowned slightly and added another sentence: “You guys go ahead and sleep, I’m going downstairs.”
“Wait a minute.” Gu Kai stopped Bai Yiyi as she turned to leave, reached out to pick up a set of pajamas placed next to Tongtong, and tossed them towards her: “This set of pajamas is yours.”
Bai Yiyi looked at the pajamas in his hand in surprise, her mind, inexplicably, a bit chaotic.
Gu Kai watched the changes in her facial expressions, his smile deepening at the corners of his mouth, “These were bought before you guys moved in. I forgot about them, and if I hadn’t just changed Tongtong’s sleepwear, I almost wouldn’t have rembered.”
His words were, naturally, a lie.
Bai Yiyi’s expression looked sowhat unnatural. She looked at the pajamas in Gu Kai’s hand and felt that this was very suggestive.
Parent-child outfits are not for them and their relationship to wear.
Even though they have a daughter together, Tongtong, beyond that, they have no other relationship.
“I have pajamas, you keep them for yourself.” Bai Yiyi pursed her lips, rejecting this subtly suggestive gift.
Gu Kai raised an eyebrow, “Are you suggesting that I should find a stepmother for Tongtong, and have her wear this kind of parent-child outfit with her stepmom?”
“Mommy, wear.”
Tongtong didn’t understand what a stepmom was, but she hoped to wear matching outfits with mommy and daddy. As she spoke, she climbed up from the bed, wrapping her arms around the pajamas in Gu Kai’s hand.
Bai Yiyi could refuse Gu Kai, but she couldn’t turn a cold face to her daughter.
Seeing Tongtong holding the pajamas, looking at her with expectation, she sighed inwardly, walked to the bed, and took the pajamas: “Tongtong, mommy will put them away for now, we’ll wear them in the evening. Hurry up and go to sleep with daddy.”
She had intended to let him go back to his own room to sleep, but considering he had spent the day with Tongtong and had hurt his hand, Bai Yiyi told herself, just this once, to let him sleep in the bed.
Seeing that she had accepted the pajamas, a hint of amusent appeared in Gu Kai’s eyes again, and he spoke in a pleased tone: “If you are not tired, we will go to sleep, rember to call us for dinner.”
“Mhm.”
Bai Yiyi softly responded and turned to leave the bedroom.
After the door was closed, Gu Kai withdrew his gaze, tenderly patted Tongtong’s head with his large palm, and whispered gently, “Tongtong, close your eyes and go to sleep.”
“Okay.” Tongtong rarely slept with Gu Kai, and the experience was more exciting than sleeping with Bai Yiyi, and she was better behaved.
The little body snuggled into his arms, closed her eyes, and within a few minutes, she was asleep.
Gu Kai had not slept at all the previous night and had been tired all day today; he was truly exhausted. Holding his beloved daughter, he too contentedly drifted into dreamland.

After the nanny had returned with the groceries, Bai Yiyi went into the kitchen to cook herself, with the nanny assisting her on the side.
In order to let Gu Kai and Tongtong sleep a bit longer, she deliberately slowed down her pace, making breakfast leisurely and unhurriedly.
When the dishes were served on the table, it was already 7 o’clock in the evening.
The ringtone of the mobile phone sounded here; it was Wen Ran calling. Bai Yiyi pressed the answer button and spoke with a smile in her voice: “Hello, Ranran.”
“Yiyi, is my brother at your place?”
Hearing this, Bai Yiyi subconsciously looked up at the second floor, “He and Tongtong are still sleeping.”
“Oh, I was just asking if you guys wanted to co over for dinner; I’ve already prepared dinner,” said Wen Ran with an even lighter voice upon knowing that Gu Kai was at Bai Yiyi’s house.
Bai Yiyi smiled gently and declined: “We won’t be coming over; I had nothing to do and have already prepared dinner.”
“Ah, you’ve already made dinner?” Wen Ran’s voice carried surprise: “I was thinking, with my brother’s hand injured, I specifically asked Nanny Zhang to buy so pig liver.”
“Rest assured, I won’t mistreat your brother; I also made him stir-fried pig liver. Actually, I think he doesn’t need to nourish his blood at all.” Bai Yiyi’s way of speaking to Wen Ran was also informal; even though Wen Ran was Gu Kai’s sister, she didn’t feel it was wrong to speak ill of Gu Kai in front of her.
“Then you guys don’t co over, save on our food. Mo Xiuchen is back, I’m hanging up, bye.” Wen Ran, hearing that Bai Yiyi had made pig liver for her brother, felt not only relieved but also very happy.
Mo Xiuchen entered from the porch and saw Wen Ran put away her phone with a radiant smile; he couldn’t help but smile, “Ranran, what’s making you so happy?”
Wen Ran reined in her smile slightly and stood in front of the sofa looking at Mo Xiuchen.
Mo Xiuchen walked over to her, reached out to embrace her, and Wen Ran, in tacit agreent, wrapped her arms around his strong waist, “I just called Yiyi, and she said my brother is sleeping at her house, and she bought pig liver for him to nourish his blood. It seems that Yiyi cares a lot about my brother, and that makes happy.”
“I see,” said Mo Xiuchen, realizing the situation with a slight smile curving his lips, his large hand gently stroking her head, running through her soft, straight hair, “How about those three little ones, are they asleep again?”
“They’re not asleep; they’re playing wildly upstairs, watched by the two nannies,” Wen Ran stepped out from Mo Xiuchen’s embrace, put away her smile, and asked with concern, “How is the situation in the hospital, my brother only ntioned in the afternoon that those two patients’ condition was stable?”
Mo Xiuchen took her hand and sat down on the sofa, explaining gently, “The patient’s condition has stabilized; it’s thanks to Dad and Ah Kai.”
“So that ans the issue wasn’t with our dicine?”
Wen Ran looked at Mo Xiuchen nervously.
Mo Xiuchen caught her delicate and soft hand, “Soone has tampered with the dicine, but without evidence, such claims will only be seen as shirking responsibility. The police are currently investigating this matter.”

Wen Ran lowered her eyelids, a hint of disappointnt flashing in her eyes.
“Don’t worry, once there’s progress, we will definitely find the evidence,” Mo Xiuchen’s large hand gently wrapped around her shoulder, his deep and magnetic voice falling on her ear.
Wen Ran raised her eyes again, looking into his eyes filled with gentle warmth, her face breaking into a shallow smile, “Yeah, I believe we will find the evidence. By the way, how did it go with Li En this afternoon when Yiyi t him?”
Bai Yiyi and Gu Kai had co over together in the afternoon, and with Gu Kai not resting, she didn’t ask for more details.
Mo Xiuchen’s handso brows frowned slightly, his voice deepening a notch: “Li En is a suspect, though there’s no evidence yet, but there’s a fifty percent chance that he’s involved.”
“Really him?” Wen Ran’s eyes widened in surprise; thinking of Bai Yiyi, she furrowed her brows: “Doesn’t my brother know too? What was his reaction?”
She didn’t specify which brother she was referring to, but Mo Xiuchen knew she ant Gu Kai. His brows relaxed, and the corners of his mouth curved slightly, “Li En was very unpleasant to Bai Yiyi, and while he is a major suspect, Ah Kai is not unreasonable. He didn’t bla Bai Yiyi because of Li En, speaking of this, I have so good news for you.”
