Chapter 1325: Holding a banquet in 1324
A City
When Qin Mu arrived at the hospital, An Lin was sitting in front of the sickbed, feeding her mother apples while chatting with her.
“Mom, An Lin.”
Qin Mu’s voice ca from the doorway, An Lin looked up in surprise, and upon seeing him co in with gifts, a trace of astonishnt flashed in her eyes, and a smile appeared on her face: “Ah Mu, how co you’re back?”
“How could I not co back when Mom is hospitalized?”
Qin Mu handed the gifts he was holding to An Lin, who ca up to greet him, and walked over to the sickbed with his long legs, reached out for a pillow, and tucked it behind Mom An, who was sitting up.
“Mom, when An Lin ca back yesterday evening, I had sothing to deal with in G City, so I couldn’t co back with her to see you…”
“Ah Mu, An Lin told everything. You child, why make the trip back when you’re busy over there?” Qin Mu was interrupted by Mom An before he could finish speaking.
Mom An had watched Qin Mu grow up since he was little. She had known about her daughter’s feelings for him years ago. However, she pretended to be unaware due to An Lin’s threats.
But as for her son-in-law, Qin Mu, she was one thousand percent content.
An Lin put the gifts aside and walked over, pulling out the chair in front of the bed for Qin Mu to sit.
Qin Mu gave her a slight smile, sat down, and inquired about Mom An’s condition with concern, An Lin responded with a few words, but most of the ti, it was Mom An chatting with Qin Mu, as she listened by the side.
To outsiders, Qin Mu was cold and sparing with words, but to family and friends, he was very kind.
His concern clearly made Mom An happier than An Lin’s filial piety.
“You’re impressive indeed. My mom has been in a bad mood because the doctor won’t let her go ho, and she’s been grumpy with both and my dad. But just now, when you ca, she brightened up instantly.”
When going back, An Lin didn’t let Qin Mu drive; instead, she drove herself with Qin Mu sitting in the passenger seat, lightly pressing his temples with one hand.
“Is it really as exaggerated as you say?” Qin Mu asked lightly, with a hint of a smile on his lips.
An Lin nodded, “I’m not exaggerating, it’s true.” She glanced at him, a look of concern in her eyes, “Are you very tired? If so, I won’t talk to you, and you can take a nap. I’ll wake you when we get ho.”
“I am a bit, I’ll rest my eyes for a bit.”
Having said that, Qin Mu closed his eyes and rested.
An Lin pursed her lips, looking at his handso features in the rearview mirror, and thinking about how he’s now her closest person, soone she’ll be with for a lifeti, a sense of warmth arose in her heart again.
No matter whether he liked her or not, he treated her very well. Maybe, she shouldn’t be too greedy to want too much. As long as she didn’t think about their loveless marriage, she still felt very happy.
An Lin subconsciously reduced the speed of the car, and at the intersection ahead where she should have gone straight, she turned the steering wheel, taking a less trafficked route.
The red Maserati moved slowly in the deep autumn night, like a crawling turtle, unhurried.
Qin Mu was indeed tired. In order to rush back to see his mother-in-law, he had arranged everything in G City, and Mo Xiuchen had also made him work on the flight without a mont to rest, as he was constantly reviewing docunts.
What was originally a journey of just over ten minutes, An Lin deliberately drove around half of A City.
When the Maserati reached the gate of the Qin compound, nearly an hour had passed since they had left the hospital.
The guard stepped forward to open the car door, An Lin made a shushing gesture to him, and the latter respectfully nodded, about to close the door when inside the passenger seat, the man’s thick eyelashes trembled gently, his eyes black as ink slowly opened.
“Are we ho?”
His consciousness quickly cleared, and looking up at the guard standing outside the car, he unbuckled his seat belt and got out.
“Ah Mu, tell mom and dad that I won’t co in, I’ll stay at my parent’s ho for the next couple of days to keep my dad company.” An Lin didn’t drive into the Qin compound because she didn’t want to live there with him.
Qin Mu’s eyes flickered, “Now that we’re at the doorstep, there’s no reason not to go in. We’ll have dinner and then I’ll accompany you back to check on dad.”
He got out of the car, walked around the vehicle, and opened the driver’s side door, standing tall beside the car.
An Lin had no choice but to get out of the car.
The two walked into the living room together, where Mother Qin imdiately ca up to them, “An Lin, Ah Mu, when did you get back?”
Qin Mu turned his gaze towards An Lin and hooked the corners of his lips slightly, “An hour ago.”
“An hour ago, and you’re proud of it? Why didn’t you co back with An Lin last night, leaving her to fly ho alone in the middle of the night? Don’t you know that’s very unsafe?”
Mother Qin glared at her son fiercely, fully displaying the deanor a good mother-in-law should have. An Lin quickly took the bla: “Mom, it’s not Ah Mu’s fault, I didn’t want to disrupt his work, so I didn’t ask him to co back with .”
Despite saying that, An Lin still felt a bit sad.
If she rembered correctly, Qin Mu did have a precedent of accompanying a girl on a late-night flight, sothing she found out about later but had kept in her heart…
Mother Qin cheerfully pulled An Lin to sit down on the couch, “Don’t make excuses for Ah Mu, An Lin, I know what he’s like. Although you two grew up together like childhood sweethearts, don’t indulge him in the future. He’s now your husband, and your problems are his; don’t be polite with him, alright?”
“Mom, I understand.”
An Lin nodded with a smile.
“Good to know.” Having said that, Mother Qin turned around and called out ‘Sister Zhang’ towards the kitchen, and soone imdiately ran out.
Mother Qin instructed her to prepare a few more dishes, all of which were favorites of An Lin and Qin Mu.
“An Lin, now that Ah Mu is back, don’t stay at your parents’ tonight, co back ho. Ah Mu, is everything settled in G City?”
“There’s not much going on for now.” Qin Mu hesitated before answering.
“That’s good then. It’s rare for you two to co back, and with An Lin’s mom injured and hospitalized, you should stay at ho for a few more days. Also, about your marriage, I don’t know who spread the news, but your father and I were discussing hosting a few tables and inviting so relatives over for a gathering.”
“Mom, didn’t we agree not to have a wedding reception?” Qin Mu frowned slightly, who else could have spread the news if not his own mother?
Mother Qin shot him a look, “You can’t say that. You’ve married An Lin, and you should bring her into your ho with dignity and celebration. Originally it was kept quiet due to certain considerations, but now that everyone knows, if we don’t hold a reception, it would give rise to gossip.”
An Lin was also surprised. She had agreed to register their marriage with Qin Mu under pressure from him.
With their marriage registration not even half a month old, and now a wedding feast, she wasn’t ntally prepared yet.
“Alright, then don’t invite too many people, just a few simple tables will do. Our marriage is a matter between and An Lin, there’s no need to make it everyone’s business.”
Seeing An Lin pursing her lips and casting down her eyes, hiding her emotions, a flicker of light crossed the depths of Qin Mu’s gaze.
