Chapter 1364: She told that she loves you.

Bai Yuqin’s face alternated between pale and livid.

“Ranran, Momo and the others are being too noisy. Let’s take them upstairs; there’s only half an hour left before their class starts.”

Mo Xiuchen stood up, said this to Wen Ran, then stepped out of the sofa and called the three little children who were chasing one another over to him.

Wen Ran glanced at Bai Yuqin and then at Gu Kai. Seeing that the three kids had already run over to Mo Xiuchen, she also stood up and stepped forward to pick up Tongtong.

“Brother, talk properly. Don’t get angry.”

Gu Kai looked at the concern in Wen Ran’s eyes, pursed his thin lips, and finally nodded.

“Tongtong, let’s go upstairs. Your teacher will be here soon, and you need to start class. Daddy and Grandma will co upstairs to find us after they’ve finished talking.”

Tongtong gazed longingly at Gu Kai.

“Tongtong, be good. Daddy will co upstairs to find you later.” Gu Kai smiled faintly before letting go of Tongtong. Wen Ran held her hand and, together with Mo Xiuchen, took the four children upstairs.

The vast living room was left with only Bai Yuqin and Gu Kai. The silence in the air extended to every corner, making the atmosphere even more awkward.

Gu Kai lowered his gaze, his eyes fixed on his palm. After resting for so long, the wound on his hand had mostly healed, though the scab had yet to fall off.

“Ah Kai, can you tell what Little Li said to you?” Bai Yuqin broke the silence with a soft question.

At the ntion of Li En, a trace of coldness appeared in Gu Kai’s eyes, his lips pressing into a cold, rigid line. “He told everything, both what he should and shouldn’t say.”

“Ah Kai, three days ago, Yiyi called , saying that ever since you t Li En, you left G City. On the phone, she questioned about whether I was involved in the events of that year. That’s why I returned to G City the day before yesterday.”

Noticing Gu Kai’s silence, Bai Yuqin took the initiative to explain herself.

Hoping to share the truth, she wished he wouldn’t bla Yiyi. However, as her words trailed off, Gu Kai sneered, “Li En told that Bai Yiyi had seen Ranran back then. A six-year-old child already has mories—are you still trying to clear her na?”

Bai Yuqin’s face turned pale again, seemingly unprepared for Li En to have shared such details with Gu Kai.

“Ah Kai, what happened back then truly has nothing to do with Yiyi.” Her urgent tone sounded sarcastic to Gu Kai.

The ridicule on his lips deepened. “Don’t tell Bai Yiyi was too young at the ti, that she knew nothing and didn’t assist Fu Jingyi in hurting Ranran. Li En ntioned you took Bai Yiyi to see Fu Jingyi—she was already six years old.”

To Gu Kai, when Ranran t Mo Xiuchen, she was even younger than Bai Yiyi was when she saw Ranran. Yet Ranran had managed to save Mo Xiuchen.

Calculating further, Bai Yiyi’s six-year-old birthday coincided with the period when Wen Ran had released Mo Xiuchen and was being tornted by Fu Jingyi…

The more Gu Kai thought about this in the past few days, the more he blad himself. Of all the won in the world, why did he choose to love the daughter of his enemy?

And not just that—a woman who was cruel-hearted since childhood.

“Did Little Li even tell you this?”

Bai Yuqin’s emotions wavered, complex and indescribable. Under Gu Kai’s ridiculing gaze, she nodded. “Yes. I later took Yiyi to see Fu Jingyi. On her sixth birthday, because she missed her father, she didn’t want any birthday gifts—she only wanted to see him.”

Bai Yuqin’s recounting caused ice to settle over Gu Kai’s eyes, chilling the temperature in the room by several degrees.

In his heart, he cursed Bai Yiyi, the liar.

“Ah Kai, Yiyi has no mory of that incident. She didn’t deceive you. All this ti, it’s been deceiving you—and deceiving Yiyi.”

Upon hearing this, Gu Kai’s handso face changed.

Lowering her head, Bai Yuqin spoke with guilt. “I’m sorry—I lied to you both. That day, I took Yiyi to see Fu Jingyi. We happened to walk in on Fu Jingyi injecting your sister. Yiyi overheard what he said…”

Gu Kai’s body froze suddenly. His gaze towards Bai Yuqin burst with glacial resentnt. Yesterday, when Bai Yuqin spoke to Wen Ran about it, she had conveniently omitted this detail.

She had only admitted to helping Fu Jingyi evade police investigation back then.

The apologetic look on Bai Yuqin’s face struck Gu Kai as nauseatingly hypocritical.

Turned out Bai Yuqin was a master at feigning innocence. All this ti, he’d actually believed her, thinking she was kind.

He even pitied her for loving a man like Fu Jingyi. But now he realized—none of it was true.

“Ah Kai, you can hate however much you want. But please, don’t hate Yiyi. If it weren’t for covering her mouth back then, she would have rushed in. It’s my selfishness—my selfish love—that failed to save Wen Ran.”

“You hate Ranran even more than Fu Jingyi, don’t you?”

Gu Kai’s words cut like ice.

Looking at Bai Yuqin, there wasn’t a shred of warmth in his gaze anymore.

Bai Yuqin’s eyes shifted, her secret exposed, her complexion turning paper-white. “Back then, I hated your mother. Because the deeper Fu Jingyi’s hatred for her, the more it showed how deeply he loved her.”

“Fu Jingyi was unworthy.”

Gu Kai suddenly shouted.

“Yes, he was unworthy of loving your mother, and I was unworthy of loving him. I pushed him into hell with my own hands. I am even less worthy. Later, your sister went missing. Since then, Fu Jingyi refused to see … Over the years, I’ve felt constant guilt and regret, wishing I’d stopped him from hurting such a little girl.”

Gu Kai’s ten fingers progressively tightened into fists, striving to suppress the rage churning within his heart. If Bai Yuqin hadn’t been a woman, he might have already gone through with striking her.

“After witnessing that scene, Yiyi refused her father’s birthday celebrations. She called him a terrible person and said she hated him. Later, Fu Jingyi made her forget those mories.”

“Ah, what a fine piece of karma—Bai Yiyi may have forgotten about those mories, but she’s still filled with hatred for Fu Jingyi. Did you just now tell all this? Have you told Bai Yiyi any of it?”

Gu Kai suddenly laughed coldly. She, along with the man she loved, had caused him and his sister to be separated for years and had robbed his mother of the chance to see her daughter one last ti before dying.

In this mont, Gu Kai sincerely wished Bai Yiyi would also co to resent this woman in front of him.

Bai Yuqin’s eyes grew moist, her voice trembling with choked sobs and deep regret. “Yes, I told Yiyi. At first, I didn’t intend to tell her. But Yiyi made swear not to hide anything from her again.”

“So Bai Yiyi left. Haha, Bai Yuqin, Fu Jingyi got his karma, and so will you.”

Gu Kai suddenly stood up, his gaze sharp as knives slicing through Bai Yuqin.

Bai Yuqin’s body shuddered, her face drained entirely of color. “Yes, I will get my karma—I’m already getting it. Yiyi hates more than she hates her father. I’m unworthy of being her mother, even less worthy of being Tongtong’s grandmother.”

At the ntion of Tongtong, Gu Kai’s expression shifted again.

Bai Yuqin stood up and bowed deeply before Gu Kai. “Ah Kai, I’m sorry. I will personally go apologize to your mother. But please, don’t bear resentnt towards Yiyi. She told that she loves you.”
