Chapter 1368: 1367 How much salary do you want?

Wen Jin Pharmaceutical Factory

At 11:15 in the morning, Jing Xiaocha arrived at Wen’s Pharmaceutical Factory carrying lunch.

Since Wen Jin had brought her to the factory before, the security guard asked a few questions before letting her in.

Jing Xiaocha went upstairs with the lunch and knocked on the door of Wen Jin’s office. A mont later, Wen Jin’s voice ca through the door, “Co in!”

Jing Xiaocha pushed the door open and walked in with a bright smile on her face, speaking in a cheerful tone, “Brother Wen, I specifically brought lunch for you from Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion. Co and eat before you get back to work.”

Wen Jin’s eyes showed a flicker of surprise. “Why are you here?”

“I just bumped into Sister Wen. She told to bring you lunch.”

Jing Xiaocha walked to the sofa, placed the lunch on the coffee table, and looked at Wen Jin with a playful grin.

“Ranran told you to bring lunch?”

Wen Jin’s confusion deepened as his gaze swept over the lunch box on the coffee table. He stepped away from his desk and walked over to the sofa.

“Yes, Sister Wen told to bring it over. Brother Wen, hurry and eat while it’s still hot.”

Jing Xiaocha arranged the dishes neatly and sat down on the sofa.

“Alright, so Ranran asked you to bring lunch—did she say anything else?” Wen Jin pondered for two seconds, sat down, and asked again.

Jing Xiaocha’s smile faded, and she said seriously, “Brother Wen, Sister Wen ntioned that your secretary quit and you’ve been too busy to eat properly. Since I still owe you 100,000 yuan, I thought I could work here for you. You don’t need to pay a salary; just deduct the debt from it each month.”

Wen Jin’s lips curved faintly. “Ranran said this?”

“No, no, no, this is my idea—I want to pay off the debt sooner. Don’t worry, I won’t ask for a ridiculous salary.”

Jing Xiaocha shook her head and gestured frantically.

“Aren’t you still studying?”

Wen Jin picked up his chopsticks, took a bite of the stead pork ribs, chewed, swallowed, and then casually asked.

These dishes were his favorites—it must have been Ranran who called Yi Pin Xuan Pavilion to arrange them, or perhaps she instructed Jing Xiaocha beforehand.

Jing Xiaocha raised an eyebrow and replied confidently, “Brother Wen, don’t worry, I won’t let it interfere with my studies. I used to juggle several part-ti jobs, but I’ve quit all of them now.”

“Well then, what can you do?”

Wen Jin’s eyes flickered slightly as he asked with a calm tone.

“I can handle odd jobs—printing docunts, serving tea, things like that. I have basic accounting skills, and I’ve learned so computer applications. Essentially, I know a bit about everything except specialized knowledge.”

Since junior high school, Jing Xiaocha had been doing various part-ti jobs.

After several years, she had worked in dozens of industries. Although she wasn’t a professional in any field, she had picked up bits and pieces of knowledge along the way.

“Have you had lunch yet?” Wen Jin suddenly changed the subject, catching Jing Xiaocha off guard. She let out an “Ah” before shaking her head. “Not yet.”

“Join , then.”

There was more than enough lunch for him to eat alone.

Jing Xiaocha hadn’t eaten breakfast that morning and was already starving. The aroma of the food was making her stomach rumble.

Hearing Wen Jin’s invitation, she agreed without hesitation. “Alright, Brother Wen, does this an you’re okay with working here?”

“How much of a salary do you want?”

Wen Jin had a fairly good impression of Jing Xiaocha. Whether it was her personality or other aspects, many of her qualities reminded him of Ranran.

Jing Xiaocha bead with joy at Wen Jin’s question. “Brother Wen, I don’t expect much. In the past, my part-ti jobs only paid a few hundred yuan a month. You can just offer 1,000 yuan a month. That way, I can repay 10,000 yuan in a year.”

“Two thousand as a base, with overti calculated separately. If you perform well, there will be bonuses, too,” Wen Jin said generously.

Jing Xiaocha burst out laughing. “Brother Wen, you’re such a great guy—you’re sure to live a long, healthy life!”

“I don’t need longevity, just make sure I don’t regret giving you such a high salary,” Wen Jin responded, amused by Jing Xiaocha’s flattery.

“I guarantee you won’t. Brother Wen, I’ll work hard—like a horse or an ox—to repay your money as soon as possible.”

“That’s what you should do. Besides, you’ve already repaid 200,000 yuan, and now you only owe 100,000. There’s no need to rush—focus on finishing your education.”

“Yes, I’ll work on it diligently, very diligently,” Jing Xiaocha assured him before picking up a piece of at and placing it in Wen Jin’s bowl. Enthusiastically, she added, “Brother Wen, eat more. From now on, you absolutely can’t lose weight. If you do, I’ll feel like I’m not doing my job as your assistant.”

“You do realize you’re an assistant, not a nanny, right?”

Wen Jin frowned slightly, beginning to regret his decision.

Jing Xiaocha laughed awkwardly. “Brother Wen, you’re paying such a high salary—I should moonlight as your nanny, too. You’re my lifesaver. I’d happily take on several more jobs to repay you.”

“If you take on several more jobs, does that an you can repay the 100,000 yuan in one year?”

Wen Jin set down his chopsticks, pulled out his phone, and dialed Wen Ran’s number.

He wasn’t solely keeping Jing Xiaocha around because of her. It was also because she had said Ranran had sent her.

In Wen Jin’s eyes, if Wen Ran wanted to help Jing Xiaocha, there was no way he would refuse.

“Brother Wen, are you calling Sister Wen?”

Jing Xiaocha’s eyes darted around. “You’re not thinking I’m using Sister Wen’s na to scam you, are you?”

“Whether you’re scamming will only be clear once it’s confird,” Wen Jin said with mock seriousness.

Jing Xiaocha stuck out her tongue. “I’d never cheat soone who saved my life! Oh, Brother Wen, is Zhang Jinlei really beyond saving?”

She was referring to whether he absolutely had to go to jail.

Wen Jin nodded and replied in an indifferent tone, “He’s committed more than one cri—there’s no way he’ll be out in a few years. His wife is the sa. As for Zhang Minghui, I’ve already asked Zhixing to report him—you don’t need to worry.”

“What do you an? Should I stop thinking about him?”

Jing Xiaocha hadn’t seen Zhang Minghui in days; she had rented a place and imrsed herself in her studies morning to night.

“Exactly, you’re not obligated to deal with him. There’s no emotional bond between the two of you—you don’t need to get involved.”

After Wen Jin finished speaking, the call connected, and Wen Ran’s voice ca through. His originally calm expression softened, a trace of warmth appearing between his brows. His tone also turned tender, “Ranran, have you had lunch yet?”

“Not yet, Brother. Has Xiaocha co to the factory to see you?”

“Yes, she’s here. She said you sent her,” Wen Jin replied lightly before glancing at Jing Xiaocha, a warm smile spreading across his face.

Jing Xiaocha observed the warmth in Wen Jin’s eyes and couldn’t help noticing the difference. Although Wen Jin had been smiling and chatting with her earlier, the smile he wore now was distinctly different.

This smile had a srizing quality—it felt infinitely comforting and magnetic.
