Looking at Gu Kai’s outstretched hand, Bai Yiyi’s heart inexplicably skipped a beat.

Gu Kai held her hand as they walked into the living room together.
Gu Yan was in the living room, sitting on the sofa with Tongtong, reading a fairy tale book. She imdiately called out excitedly, “Daddy! Mommy!”
Gu Yan was interrupted and couldn’t continue the story. He turned to look toward the door.

His gaze swept over their clasped hands and then paused briefly on the softened contours of Gu Kai’s face. A slight smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he extended a hand to help the sliding Tongtong off the sofa.
“Daddy, Mommy.”
Tongtong slid off the sofa and quickly ran up to Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi. Bai Yiyi withdrew her hand from Gu Kai’s and bent down to embrace Tongtong.
“Mommy, Tongtong missed you.”
Tongtong’s earnest longing washed over Bai Yiyi like a warm current, filling her heart. She kissed Tongtong gently on the forehead, held her hand, and walked back to the sofa with Gu Kai.
“Ah Kai, Yiyi, you haven’t had breakfast yet, have you? Please sit down!”
Gu Yan’s face was kind and warm. His deanor toward Bai Yiyi was not unpleasant, even with the tension involving Bai Yuqin and Fu Jingyi. When Gu Yan saw Ah Kai holding Bai Yiyi’s hand as they entered, he instantly understood.
Ah Kai had taken an important step forward.

“Mommy.” Tongtong hadn’t seen her mother for several days, and now that Bai Yiyi was here, she clung to her tightly, refusing to let go. She kept calling out “Mommy!” over and over in her sweet, adorable voice, enough to lt hearts.
Bai Yiyi gently stroked Tongtong’s head. Gu Kai sat down and pulled Tongtong directly onto his lap. “Tongtong, as soon as you see Mommy, you forget all about Daddy, huh?”
“Daddy, Mommy, holding hands.”
Tongtong’s big, dark eyes darted back and forth between Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi, gleaming mischievously. She gleefully comnted on the scene she had just witnessed.
After speaking, she burst into giggles.
Bai Yiyi turned slightly bashful as Tongtong’s words made her cheeks flush faintly.
Gu Kai, on the other hand, laughed heartily. He lowered his head and planted a loud kiss on Tongtong’s forehead. “Tongtong, you’re just too adorable.”
“Ah Kai, Yiyi, now that you’re back, I can head to the hospital with peace of mind. Ah Kai, today you don’t have to go to work—stay ho and spend quality ti with Yiyi and Tongtong.”
“Dad, how many days are you planning to give off?” Gu Kai teased Gu Yan with a playful grin, secretly touched by his father’s support.
Gu Yan shot him a glance. “Just one. The hospital is waiting for you with so many patients—you still want a few days off?”
“Uncle Gu, I can take care of Tongtong. If the hospital is busy, let Ah Kai return to work. There’s no need for him to take ti off.” Bai Yiyi interjected.
Gu Kai, however, seed dissatisfied. “Yiyi, do you know I didn’t sleep last night so I could pick you up?”
The ntion of sleep made Bai Yiyi’s thoughts flash to the kiss they’d shared in the car. Her eyes flickered slightly.
Gu Yan had already stood up. “The hospital isn’t very hectic today. When Ah Kai said he’d pick you up last night, I arranged for him to have the day off…”
A phone ringing interrupted Gu Yan’s words. He took out his cell phone and stepped out of the living room to answer the call.
Tongtong accompanied Gu Kai and Bai Yiyi as they finished breakfast. Afterward, Bai Yiyi urged Gu Kai to get so sleep.
“I’ll take you and Tongtong out to play. I’ll sleep tonight instead.” While Gu Kai was tired, he was happy and didn’t want to waste the day sleeping.
Bai Yiyi, however, insisted. “No way. You didn’t sleep at all last night. I wouldn’t dare let you drive and Tongtong around while you’re this exhausted. Sleep first, and we’ll go out in the afternoon.”
“Daddy, sleep.” Tongtong joined in, echoing Bai Yiyi’s sentint.
“If I sleep, where will you go?” Gu Kai asked, narrowing his eyes in curiosity.
Bai Yiyi smiled faintly. “I’ll take Tongtong back ho. I’m not comfortable here.”
“Fine. I’ll take you both back. If you’re not comfortable here, then I’ll just go with you to your place. I’ll sleep there.”
“But that’s not…”
“You’re not allowed to say it’s not my ho. Wherever you and Tongtong are—that’s my ho.” Gu Kai’s final words made Bai Yiyi’s heartbeat skip once again.
Wherever she and Tongtong were, that was his ho. Was this considered a confession?
Gu Kai noticed the subtle change in her expression, his lips curling upward in satisfaction. He bent down and picked Tongtong up. “Let’s go. This ti, you’ll drive. Tongtong and I will sit in the back.”
Bai Yiyi took the car keys. Gu Kai added, “Wait a mont—I need to go upstairs to pack a few clothes.”
