Capítulo 1496: What is he going back to A City for in 1495?
As she spoke, Mom An reached out to push An Lin.
“Let’s go.”
Qin Mu smiled at her slightly, grasped her wrist, and without a word, pulled her out of the master bedroom.
As soon as they returned to the guest room, An Lin shook off Qin Mu’s hand.
Qin Mu’s expression remained calm; he wasn’t angered by her action. Instead, he explained plainly, “I just didn’t want Mom to question you, didn’t want her to worry, which is why I ntioned that bet.”
An Lin frowned. Right now, she didn’t want to hear him bring up that kiss from the night, but he insisted on doing so, as if deliberately going against her.
She turned and walked towards the door.
“An Lin.”
Qin Mu’s handso brows knitted together; his voice carried a hint of gloom.
It didn’t matter if she was angry with him, but he didn’t want the elders to know. Her firm refusal to share a room with him would be telling her mother there were severe issues between them.
An Lin turned around, her gaze coldly fixed on him.
“You sleep here; I’ll go to the study.”
Suppressing his emotions, Qin Mu left with a sentence and walked out of the guest room with large strides.
An Lin opened her mouth but ultimately said nothing.
She had wanted to go back to get her pajamas, but once again, Qin Mu misunderstood her.
He thought she disliked him to the point of preferring that the elders knew rather than share a room or a bed with him.
Her heart felt inexplicably stuffed and stifled.
An Lin pursed her lips, stepped forward, and closed the door.

That evening, Qin Mu spent the night in the study.
For several days, Qin Mu continued to sleep in the study.
On Friday morning, An Lin woke up to find a note left by Qin Mu on the small table by the bed, pressed down with her phone.
After reading the content of the note, her brows furrowed.
In the kitchen, Mom An was making breakfast. Hearing footsteps, she turned to An Lin and said, “An Lin, Ah Mu said there’s an ergency; he left on a business trip. Did he tell you what the ergency is?”
“No, I was still asleep when he left. I don’t know either.”
An Lin intentionally yawned, concealing the fact that Qin Mu slept in the study last night.
Mom An thought for a mont after hearing this and then said, “Then give Ah Mu a call. He might have just reached the airport. Check if his phone is off; he left in a hurry, and I didn’t get to ask clearly.”
“Okay, I’ll go to my room to call.”
As An Lin spoke, she turned and left the kitchen, going back to the guest room to make the call.
Unfortunately, Qin Mu’s phone was already off.
Hesitant, An Lin dialed Mo Xiuchen’s number.
This ti, after three rings, the call was answered, “Hello.”
“Mo Xiuchen, I want to ask, did sothing urgent happen at the company?”
An Lin walked to the window, looking out through the glass. Today’s weather was as clear as yesterday’s.
A ray of morning sun shone down from the horizon onto the glass window before her. In her ear was Mo Xiuchen’s puzzled voice, “Didn’t Ah Mu tell you? He didn’t go on a business trip; he returned to A City.”
“Returned to A City?”
An Lin’s brow furrowed in astonishnt, “What did he return to A City for?”
Qin Mu’s ssage to her was only one line: I have an urgent matter and will be gone for a few days. Take good care of Mom.
Earlier, her mother said Qin Mu went on a business trip, which must have been his words. But now, Mo Xiuchen said he returned to A City, leaving An Lin puzzled.
Was there an ergency in A City? Could sothing have happened to his family?
On the other end of the line, Mo Xiuchen had originally promised Qin Mu not to tell An Lin, but since she asked, he felt there was no need to keep it secret, so he said, “Uncle Qin was injured and is currently being operated on at the Military Hospital of City A. Ah Kai and Qin Mu went back to A City together.”
Upon hearing this, An Lin’s face changed, and she anxiously asked, “When did this happen?”
“This morning, An Lin. Ah Mu originally asked not to tell you because he didn’t want you to worry, but I thought you had the right to know.”
After finishing the call with Mo Xiuchen, An Lin imdiately dialed her father’s number, considering that if Qin Mu’s father was injured, her father should know.
After two rings, her father’s voice ca through, “Linlin, did you co back with Ah Mu?”
“Dad, Ah Mu didn’t tell . I just heard sothing from Mo Xiuchen. What exactly happened?”

Ten minutes later, An Lin erged from her room. Mom An had already set the breakfast on the table and was about to call her.
Seeing her unusual expression, Mom An asked with imdiate concern, “Linlin, did you call Ah Mu? Is it sothing at the company?”
“Mom, it’s not the company. Ah Mu’s father was shot. I’ve booked a flight; we’ll go to the airport after breakfast.”
“Shot? How did that happen?”
Mom An covered her mouth with both hands, “Ah Mu, the child, such a big deal, why didn’t he tell ? He even said it was a company ergency. Let’s go now; forget breakfast.”
“Mom, going to the airport now won’t help. You tend to get low blood sugar; you can’t skip breakfast. Let’s eat and then go to the airport. We can catch the flight on ti.”
An Lin placed her hands on Mom An’s shoulders, gently guiding her to the dining table and pulling out a chair for her to sit down.
“No, I have to call your mother-in-law first.”
Mom An sat down but then tried to stand up again.
“I’ve already called. The line was busy. Forget it; a lot of people must be calling her now. Let’s have breakfast first.”
An Lin gave a reassuring smile, picked up the chopsticks, and handed them to Mom An.
The next second, An Lin’s phone rang; it was Wen Ran calling.
“An Lin, Mo Xiuchen said he told you everything. Are you going back to A City?”
“Yes, I booked a flight and will go back with Mom.”
“Have you left already?”
“No, still having breakfast. We’ll head to the airport after eating.”
An Lin’s voice remained relatively calm, even though her father said Qin Mu’s father was gravely injured. Panicking wouldn’t help.
“I’ve sent Qing Feng to your house. He’ll take you and Aunt to the airport. He should be there soon.”
When Mo Xiuchen received An Lin’s call, Wen Ran had just gone to the children’s room.
Upon hearing about it upon her return, she imdiately called An Lin.
An Lin thanked her.

As Qin Mu and Ah Kai got off the plane, soone ca to pick them up and rush to the military hospital.
Among those who ca was a guard who was with his father when he was injured and a doctor from the hospital who was familiar with his father’s condition.
The doctor knew Gu Kai had returned to A City with Qin Mu, so he explained the situation in detail on the way.
After hearing the account, Gu Kai’s expression turned serious. Seeing this, Qin Mu beca even more anxious, “Ah Kai, how is it?”
“Currently, the bullet hasn’t been removed, but the bleeding has been well-controlled, right?”
Gu Kai confird what was said with another nod, “Without certainty, they don’t dare to remove the bullet casually.”
“I understand.”
Gu Kai pursed his thin lips, calmly replied, then picked up the films the other party brought, studied them for a mont, and then said slowly, “I can assist Professor Cheng in removing the bullet.”
