Capítulo 2014: 2013 Then We’ll Have to Go to Court
When Wen Jin and Jing Xiaocha arrived at the café, Jin Zheyu, Jin Fengjiao, Li Minxu, and Man Tianxue were already there.
Seeing Wen Jin, who ca with her, Jin Zheyu’s expression changed slightly.
Jin Zheyu knew that Jing Xiaocha and Wen Jin had a good relationship, but he hadn’t expected that Wen Jin would accompany her for such an issue.
Jin Fengjiao was even more furious than Jin Zheyu.
She looked at Jing Xiaocha with eyes that seed to be shooting fire. Not only had Wen Jin rejected her advances, but he also straightforwardly refused to discuss the cooperation on the filming location with her.
A few days ago, Jin Fengjiao had even bumped into Wen Jin and that Ou Yihan. She knew Ou Yihan because they were high school classmates.
Before Jin Zheyu could speak, Jin Fengjiao sneered, “Wow, President Wen isn’t accompanying his girlfriend but another woman. Aren’t you afraid Yi Han will be jealous?”
Upon hearing Jin Fengjiao’s words, Jing Xiaocha showed a hint of surprise and instinctively looked at Wen Jin.
Jin Fengjiao actually knew Ou Yihan.
Wen Jin’s expression remained unchanged despite Jin Fengjiao’s words; his sculpted handso face exuded both elegant refinent and a distant indifference that kept others at bay.
“Xiaocha is not an outsider. She was bullied and wronged, so of course, I have to accompany her here.”
The protective intent in his words was unmistakable.
Apart from the Jin siblings, the other two people’s expressions also changed.
Li Minxu shot a fierce glare at Jing Xiaocha.
Man Tianxue’s gaze towards Jing Xiaocha was also unfriendly.
It could be said that aside from Jin Zheyu, who didn’t seem to harbor much resentnt towards Jing Xiaocha, the other three were full of hostility.
“Xiaocha, thank you for coming.”
Jin Zheyu remained sowhat polite.
Though he disliked Wen Jin, in front of others and given their culpability, he was polite to Wen Jin.
Wen Jin and Jing Xiaocha each ordered a cup of coffee.
Jin Fengjiao, provoked by Wen Jin’s previous remarks, felt even more hatred towards Jing Xiaocha.
Her gaze was full of disdain, “Jing Xiaocha, if you have any demands, speak up now.”
Her tone clearly suggested Jing Xiaocha might extort them given the opportunity.
It was truly the pot calling the kettle black.
As if not hearing Jin Fengjiao’s words, Jing Xiaocha turned her gaze towards Man Tianxue and Li Minxu.
In front of Jin Zheyu, she chuckled with a hint of embarrassnt, “Xiaocha, this was an accident. If you have any conditions, you can propose them. We can negotiate well; there’s no need to take it to court.”
“I rember Editor Li saying that if things escalated, it wouldn’t benefit at all, and I wouldn’t co to a good end.”
Jing Xiaocha’s tone was very calm, yet to everyone else, it had a chill not matching the season.
Li Minxu glanced awkwardly at Jin Zheyu.
Jin Zheyu’s handso face sank as he spoke gently, reassuringly, “Xiaocha, I’ve already reprimanded him harshly. He’s willing to compensate. Whatever conditions you propose are acceptable.”
Jin Fengjiao scoffed, “Isn’t it all just about money? How much can you earn by laboring over a novel? Now you can na any price.”
“Sister, silence.”
Jin Fengjiao’s words were curtly interrupted by Jin Zheyu.
Jin Fengjiao’s expression changed but she ultimately remained silent.
She didn’t know how Jin Zheyu had persuaded their parents to co to Jing Xiaocha to settle privately.
In Jin Fengjiao’s eyes, Jing Xiaocha was a powerless orphan. Even if she knew so capable individuals, they surely wouldn’t regard her as a friend and truly stand up for her.
As long as they intimidated her a bit, she wouldn’t dare to really oppose them.
Jin Zheyu looked at Jing Xiaocha’s composed appearance, “Xiaocha, it’s our fault. I represent my sister, Li Minxu, and Man Tianxue to apologize to you. If you’re willing, I can take charge and sign a film adaptation deal for your previous novel. You can serve as the scriptwriter, control the storyline, just need slight modifications based on the original.”
“I really don’t want to ask for anything; I just want to restore my reputation, to prove that I haven’t plagiarized.”
Jing Xiaocha remained unmoved.
She was just unwilling to be wronged, and felt threatened by Li Minxu.
Jin Zheyu had so understanding of Jing Xiaocha’s character. Hesitating, he looked toward Wen Jin, “President Wen, since you’ve accompanied Xiaocha today, please give her so advice.”
The implication was for Wen Jin to persuade Jing Xiaocha.
Jin Zheyu’s suggestion to settle privately, and his painstaking persuasion of his parents wasn’t solely for their family’s interests, to prevent any impact on the new film.
He was also afraid that if Jing Xiaocha beca their family’s foe, his father or sister might do sothing to harm Xiaocha.
Even if he wished to protect her, he couldn’t always be there for her.
Moreover, Jing Xiaocha wouldn’t accept continuous protection.
Jing Xiaocha was straightforward, stubborn, and at tis perhaps naïve.
She didn’t understand the malicious nature of people’s hearts nor the dark aspects of comrce.
But Wen Jin understood.
Receiving Jin Zheyu’s pleading gaze, Wen Jin lowered his eyes and spoke softly, “This matter can be resolved privately, but first, the one who stole Xiaocha’s work isn’t you Young Master Jin, hence the person who should apologize isn’t you.”
As soon as Wen Jin spoke, the other three’s faces turned sour.
Man Tianxue tightened her grip on her cup.
For her, a known writer and screenwriter, to apologize to a newcor was an insult.
People of similar ilk inevitably recognized each other, evident from her not being the kind-hearted type herself.
Jin Fengjiao imdiately refuted, “I wasn’t the one who stole her work.”
“As far as I know, the mastermind behind this is Miss Jin, isn’t it?”
Wen Jin’s lips curled with a chilly smile, his words like daggers aid straight at Jin Fengjiao’s heart.
Jin Fengjiao’s face turned ghostly pale.
“Wen Jin, don’t speak without evidence.”
Wen Jin chuckled coldly, turned his gaze, and stretched out his hand towards Jing Xiaocha.
Jing Xiaocha imdiately realized and pulled out her phone to hand to Wen Jin.
Having been together for over a year, both professionally and personally, Jing Xiaocha and Wen Jin had a mutual understanding.
Sitting across from them, Jin Zheyu watched the rapport between Wen Jin and Jing Xiaocha, and his hand clenched into a fist under the table.
Wen Jin took Jing Xiaocha’s phone, unlocked it, and lightly tapped the screen with his slender fingers, a voice emanated from the phone.
Suddenly, the sound of a cup falling ca from the table, water spilling all over, dripping down to the floor along the table’s edge.
Li Minxu’s face changed from blue to pale and then blue again, watching Wen Jin and Jing Xiaocha in disbelief with wide eyes.
The cup just now was knocked over by him.
Jin Fengjiao’s face also flashed various colors.
She gritted her teeth as she glared at Li Minxu, feeling he was more hindrance than help.
“This recording wasn’t from ; what does it prove?”
Jin Fengjiao stubbornly denied.
“Miss Jin, we also have evidence against you, although it’s currently with the lawyer, and I didn’t bring it. If you want to see it, you’ll have to wait until it’s presented in court.”
