Capítulo 2017: 2016 Disdain
After leaving the café, Jing Xiaocha said to Wen Jin, “Brother Wen, you head back to the factory first. I want to make a trip to the library.”
Wen Jin had spent quite a bit of ti with her for negotiations.
Now that this matter was resolved, it was like a blessing in disguise for Xiaocha. Not only did she receive a compensation, but her novel could also be adapted into a TV series, with her as the screenwriter.
After a brief pause, Wen Jin gently said, “Even though you love writing, you’re still a newcor, so going to the library to read more about this is a good idea.”
Jing Xiaocha smiled softly, “Brother Wen, I think so too.”
“Get in, I’ll take you to the library.”
Wen Jin chuckled warmly.
After dropping Jing Xiaocha at the library, Wen Jin returned to the pharmaceutical factory.
Thinking about that kid Zhang Minghui, after finishing work, Wen Jin dialed Wen Ran’s phone number.
The phone rang a few tis before Wen Ran’s cheerful voice ca through, “Hello, brother.”
“Ranran, I’ll pick you up after work, wait for at the company and don’t leave.”
As he spoke, Wen Jin shut down his computer.
“Brother, how co you thought of picking up from work, is sothing up?”
“Nothing’s up, can’t I just pick you up from work? Usually, when Mo Xiuchen isn’t away on a business trip, I don’t get a chance to pick you up, so while he’s out, I’m coming to have dinner at your place tonight.”
Wen Jin’s voice was gentle and joyful, and it was entirely truthful.
When Mo Xiuchen was ho, they hardly ever had the chance to pick up Wen Ran.
Even Ziyi, Momo, and Xin Xin, the three kids, wanting to be close to Wen Ran would make Mo Xiuchen jealous.
Wen Ran’s clear laughter ca from the other end of the phone, “Okay, I’ll wait at the company then.”
In the sumr weather, at five-thirty, the sun was still blistering the earth in the sky.
Wen Ran ca out of the company, opened her umbrella imdiately, and upon seeing Wen Jin’s car parked by the roadside, a smile appeared on her face.
“Ranran, get in.”
Seeing her walking over, Wen Jin, who was originally sitting in the car, got out to open the door for her.
“Thanks, brother.”
Wen Ran smiled brightly as she got into the car and pulled over the seatbelt to buckle up.
Once the car was on the road, Wen Ran asked, seemingly unintentionally, “Brother, Xiaocha said she misunderstood you that day, did she co to apologize to you?”
Wen Jin was focused on the road, and upon hearing Wen Ran’s comnt, he glanced at her, “I knew it was you who put her up to it.”
Wen Ran giggled, “I think you’re too harsh on poor Xiaocha; she looks at you like a mouse looks at a cat. Did you ignore her when she ca to apologize?”
Even if Wen Jin couldn’t accept Xiaocha, Wen Ran didn’t want him to be so harsh on her.
Wen Jin rolled his eyes, discontent, “Do you think your brother is so demanding?”
Wen Ran turned sideways, pretending to seriously scrutinize him, then said thoughtfully, “It doesn’t seem like it. My brother is so cultured and warm, how could he be demanding.”
Wen Jin was amused by Wen Ran’s words, “Did Xiaocha tell you that Jin Zheyu approached her this afternoon to settle out of court? If they fulfill their promise, there won’t be a need to file a lawsuit.”
Wen Ran’s eyes widened in surprise, “Really?”
“Hmm.”
“How did it turn out?” Wen Ran asked with interest. “Brother, did you accompany Xiaocha?”
“Xiaocha is inexperienced; if she went alone, she might have been easily swindled…”
Wen Jin recounted the negotiation outco to Wen Ran. After hearing it, Wen Ran smiled in satisfaction, “Brother, you are impressive. Xiaocha suing them could protect her rights and also teach them a lesson. But when it cos down to it, this is more pragmatic. Moreover, Old Mr. Jin is not known for being kind.”
Xiaocha might be naive, not knowing the dangers of people’s hearts, but Wen Ran had been through a lot in recent years and had learned so from Mo Xiuchen’s investigation into the Jin family.
If things truly fell apart, there’s no guarantee the other party wouldn’t harm Xiaocha.
Wen Jin agreed with Wen Ran’s concern, “I think the sa way. Anyway, Xiaocha has evidence, so the Jin family doesn’t dare to make any reckless moves.”

Ou Yihan happened to run into Gu Kai when getting off work.
After greeting, they walked out of the hospital together, and her phone started ringing.
Gu Kai walked ahead towards the parking lot, while Ou Yihan slowed her pace to answer the phone, “Hello.”
“Yihan, it’s Fengjiao. Are you off work yet?”
Ou Yihan’s eyes flashed with a trace of surprise. She wasn’t on good terms with Jin Fengjiao; the last ti they t at a restaurant, Jin Fengjiao was sarcastic and looked at her with hostility.
Now she was suddenly so warm in calling her na. Ou Yihan’s voice remained calm, “What’s the matter?”
“Of course, it’s about sothing important, a matter concerning your lifelong happiness. I’m at ** Hotel right now, why don’t you co over, and we can chat over dinner.”
“Sorry, I have a date. If it’s sothing important, tell over the phone.”
Ou Yihan didn’t want to engage much with Jin Fengjiao. As the saying goes, people with different paths don’t make plans together.
Surprisingly, Jin Fengjiao didn’t get angry, which was unexpected for Ou Yihan.
All she heard was Jin Fengjiao saying regretfully over the phone, “Alright, since you’re busy, I’ll just tell you over the phone then.”
“Ok, go ahead.”
As she spoke on the phone, Ou Yihan walked leisurely toward the parking lot.
“I’ll send you a couple of photos first. If I just tell you, you wouldn’t believe it and might think I’m trying to cause trouble.”
Jin Fengjiao’s voice ca with a hint of laughter.
Ou Yihan showed a hint of confusion.
After two beeps, she checked the ssages, which were photos sent by Jin Fengjiao of Wen Jin and Jing Xiaocha.
Wen Jin was holding Jing Xiaocha’s hand; in one photo, he was looking at her gently, and in another, they were turning away together.
“Yihan, have you seen the photos? I happened to catch them. I thought you and Wen Jin looked like a perfect match when I saw you dining together. Didn’t expect he was on a date with Jing Xiaocha today.”
“Is there anything else?”
Jin Fengjiao was in the midst of an energetic narration when she was suddenly interrupted, causing a brief mont of speechlessness.
Ou Yihan said calmly, “If there’s nothing else, I’m going to hang up; I have a date.”
“Yihan, you should keep an eye on Wen Jin. n like him are always charming to won, and that Jing Xiaocha definitely looks like a vixen…”
Hearing that she was going to hang up, Jin Fengjiao hurriedly advised.
In a tone of utmost concern for Ou Yihan.
Ou Yihan chuckled softly, “I know. Many won admire Wen Jin, which proves he has charm, and my taste is good. No need to tell next ti if you see sothing similar. Even though Wen Jin and I are dating now, we’re not married yet. Before marriage, he has the freedom to choose.”
“Are you just letting that vixen Jing Xiaocha…”
“Whether Xiaocha is a vixen or not, I trust Wen Jin can tell. If she really were a vixen, Wen Jin wouldn’t give her a second look.”
