In the blink of an eye, Mo Xiuchen, Qin Mu, and Wen Jin sprang into action simultaneously.
The man who had previously asked Jing Xiaocha to retreat was startled, seeing the fists of three n coming at him from different directions.
Instinctively protecting himself, he withdrew the dagger and pushed Jing Xiaocha forward to block Wen Jin on the right.
In the chaos of their swift movents, the sharp dagger grazed Jing Xiaocha’s neck, and blood imdiately stained the dagger.
Jing Xiaocha let out a soft cry as the man pushed her forward, causing her to fall uncontrollably toward Wen Jin’s direction.
"Xiaocha."
Wen Jin’s face changed dramatically as he shouted, extending his arms to catch the pushed Jing Xiaocha, holding her firmly in his embrace, "Your neck is injured."
Falling into his warm embrace and surrounded by his familiar scent, Jing Xiaocha montarily forgot the pain in her arm and neck.
She completely forgot that she was injured, her eyes unblinkingly fixated on Wen Jin, who was holding her.
This wasn’t the first ti she had been held like this, but her emotions were completely different from the last ti.
Jing Xiaocha was, after all, a girl, and her previous negotiations and persuasion with the kidnappers to release Ou Yihan didn’t an she wasn’t scared.
Her fear was just like Ou Yihan’s, buried deep inside.
She had just dared not show it, forcing herself to remain calm and collected.
Yet at this mont, being held in the arms of the man she deeply loved, being looked at with such concern and care, she couldn’t control the surge of emotions within her.
Wen Jin’s gaze traveled from her arm to her neck, watching the drops of blood trickling down her fair skin, and his heart ached with rising pain.
"I’ll take you to the hospital."
Wen Jin didn’t check if Mo Xiuchen and Qin Mu had subdued the kidnapper; all his attention was focused on Jing Xiaocha in his arms.
Her pale face reminded him of her dire condition.
"Brother Wen, I’m not..."
Jing Xiaocha tried to curl her lips into a weak smile to reassure Wen Jin that she was fine.
But before she could finish speaking, a wave of dizziness swept over her, causing her world to spin, and she couldn’t keep her eyes open.
The image of Wen Jin blurred rapidly, and though she fought with all her strength, she couldn’t utter a word, finally succumbing to darkness.
She faintly heard Wen Jin’s urgent yet worried shout of "Xiaocha."
She wanted to reassure Brother Wen that she was truly fine, but she was unable to do anything...
Wen Jin watched closely as Jing Xiaocha fainted in his arms, lifted her horizontally, and looked a few ters away where Mo Xiuchen and Qin Mu had already knocked down the kidnapper who injured Xiaocha with the dagger.
"Xiuchen, Ah Mu, I’ll take Xiaocha to the hospital first."
He said briefly and imdiately turned to leave with Jing Xiaocha in his arms, completely forgetting about Ou Yihan.
However, just as Wen Jin took a few steps, he heard Ou Yihan exclaim from behind, "Ah Jin, watch out."
He turned in shock, seeing an earlier floored kidnapper now launching at him with a dagger.
With the kidnapper so close, Wen Jin had the fainted Jing Xiaocha in his arms and couldn’t easily dodge.
A few ters away, Mo Xiuchen and Qin Mu also witnessed the unfolding scene, with Mo Xiuchen throwing the dagger he had snatched from the kidnapper toward their direction.
The dagger struck the kidnapper attacking Wen Jin, but the opponent’s dagger also stabbed into the back of the rushing Ou Yihan.
As Ou Yihan cried out, she instinctively lunged toward Wen Jin without ti for thought.
With her slender body, she protected Wen Jin.
Wen Jin turned and, seeing the kidnapper’s dagger, only had ti to sidestep and shield Jing Xiaocha with his own body.
He hadn’t imagined that Ou Yihan would leap forward regardless of the danger.
Witnessing Ou Yihan’s frown and hearing her soft cry, Wen Jin felt a shock in his heart.
"Yi Han."
He worriedly called out, freeing an arm from holding Jing Xiaocha to support the injured Ou Yihan firmly.
"I’m alright."
Ou Yihan gritted her teeth to endure the pain, shaking her head at Wen Jin, "Quickly take Xiaocha to the hospital."
The next second, Mo Xiuchen and Qin Mu rushed in to support her.
**
By nightfall, Jing Xiaocha and Ou Yihan were both admitted to Kangning Hospital.
With Jing Xiaocha unconscious and Ou Yihan injured because of Wen Jin, they first sought a nearby hospital instead of going directly to Kangning Hospital.
They underwent surgery there.
Jing Xiaocha’s arm injury was more severe, as a rusty iron nail had deeply pierced her arm, lodged right at the joint, an easily agitated spot.
The greatest fear was bacterial infection.
Ou Yihan’s injury was on her back; though the dagger wasn’t too deeply embedded, it would still take a month or two before the wound could heal completely.
After the surgery, they were transferred to Kangning Hospital.
Ou Yihan and Jing Xiaocha were in adjacent VIP rooms.
Ou Yihan was the first to wake from anesthesia, and imdiately seeing Wen Jin, she concernedly asked, "Ah Jin, is Xiaocha alright?"
Jing Xiaocha had been injured for a while with significant blood loss, and Ou Yihan worried about potential bacterial infection from the rusty iron nail.
Wen Jin softly replied, "You can’t move right now; for a few days, you must lie on your stomach and not flat. Xiaocha is fine; she already had surgery, but she hasn’t woken up yet."
Ou Yihan looked pale, and even a gentle movent made her instinctually furrow her brows in pain as it tugged at her back wound.
Yet hearing Jing Xiaocha was fine, she sighed in relief, smiling, "It’s good that Xiaocha’s alright."
"Don’t worry about Xiaocha now; focus on your recovery first. Not many would selflessly use their body to shield from a dagger."
To this mont, Wen Jin still found it unbelievable that Ou Yihan shielded him from harm.
She was just a girl, even a doctor, but undoubtedly still afraid.
When they arrived at the convenience store, she jumped into his embrace, obviously terrified.
Ou Yihan’s eyes flashed with slight embarrassnt, "I didn’t think much at the ti, just feared the kidnapper might hurt you."
Wen Jin turned, knowing that if attacked, Xiaocha would have been the victim.
Thus, Wen Jin had angled his body, ready to shield Xiaocha from the dagger.
"Yi Han."
Wen Jin lowered his gaze, eyes falling gently on her blanket-covered back as he softly called her.
Ou Yihan looked into his eyes, "Don’t say thank you; I don’t want to hear that."
"..."
Wen Jin actually didn’t intend to express gratitude.
What he wanted to say was sothing entirely different.
Ou Yihan weakly smiled, "If you are moved by what I did, take good care of while I recover... You wouldn’t leave uncared for, right?"
She intentionally paused for a few seconds, reaching to grasp Wen Jin’s long fingers, her eyes pleading at him.
That gaze made Wen Jin swallow back unsaid words, releasing his hand from her grasp, and gently tucking her hand under the covers, "How could I not care for you? Rest assured, I’ll take care of you during your recovery."
