Wen Jin’s expression suddenly turned cold.
His dark eyes narrowed with a sharp gaze shooting straight at Zhang Jinlei, his voice icy and clear, "Zheng Shirui?"
Zhang Jinlei flinched in fear, but under Wen Jin’s piercing stare, he mustered the courage to answer, "Yes, it was Zheng Shirui who leaked the information."
"How could she know about Xiaocha’s past?"
Wen Jin’s words grew increasingly sharp, and after Zhang Jinlei ntioned Zheng Shirui, he no longer had the nerve to hide anything.
"I was montarily foolish and said so things I shouldn’t have to Zheng Liangzhu. At the ti, I was just bragging about how much I knew."
Zhang Jinlei stamred in his admission.
Wen Jin let out a cold snort.
His gaze on Zhang Jinlei grew even colder.
"How do you know that it was Zheng Shirui who leaked it to the dia?"
Zhang Jinlei’s eyes flickered, "It was Zheng Liangzhu who called and told , saying that Zheng Shirui leaked the information about Xiaocha to the dia, and it seed Zheng Liangzhu wasn’t aware of it. He called this morning and said that if you asked, I should admit that I leaked it."
"Are you telling the truth?"
Qin Mu asked coldly.
Zhang Jinlei quickly nodded, "It’s the truth, I wouldn’t dare lie to you. If you don’t believe , look, here’s the call log of Zheng Liangzhu calling . He also said that as long as I took the bla for this, he’d give a sum of money afterwards.
"Then why did you ntion it earlier?"
As Zhang Jinlei hurriedly took out his phone, a trace of coldness flashed in Wen Jin’s eyes.
Zhang Jinlei handed him the phone, replying, "I don’t want to go to jail, President Wen. For Xiaocha and Little Hui’s sake, please spare this once, I promise I’ll never speak recklessly again."
The last place he ever wanted to return to in his life was a prison cell.
Wen Jin glanced at the call log on the phone, indeed it was from this morning.
His eyes turned even colder. Well done, Zheng Shirui. Xiaocha had let her off out of kindness, yet she remained unrepentant and even intensified her actions.
"President Wen, could you not tell Zheng Liangzhu that it was I who said it?"
Zhang Jinlei spoke timidly.
He couldn’t afford to offend anyone.
"That depends on your future behavior. Even if you don’t consider Xiaocha as your sister, you should at least appreciate her raising Little Hui for you. Worst case, do you really want Zhang Minghui to hate you?"
"I... Of course not."
Zhang Jinlei struggled internally, torn with contradictions. He wanted to get more benefits from Jing Xiaocha, but that impudent girl wouldn’t budge no matter what.
He was extrely annoyed.
But with Jing Xiaocha having Wen Jin as her support, after weighing his options, he stiffly replied, "From now on, I’ll treat Xiaocha like my real sister."
Wen Jin sneered softly, "No need to treat her like a sister, just keep your distance from her."
If not for him being Zhang Minghui’s father, Wen Jin wouldn’t have let him off so easily, nor would he ever allow him near Jing Xiaocha.
Zhang Jinlei had previously set his sights on Jing Xiaocha, and Wen Jin had not forgotten this.
Embarrassnt flashed across Zhang Jinlei’s face, but he didn’t dare to defy Wen Jin, humbly agreeing, "Okay, I’ll keep my distance from Xiaocha and won’t disturb her again."
"But President Wen, may I at least occasionally see Little Hui?"
Perhaps fearing Wen Jin’s refusal, Zhang Jinlei deliberately added.
"You may, provided you behave and do nothing unethical. Otherwise, you needn’t see Little Hui at all, as that will only make him hate you."
Wen Jin didn’t bother to spare Zhang Jinlei’s dignity.
Zhang Jinlei nodded, then shook his head, "We’ll definitely behave and work hard."
"If I hear you badmouthing Xiaocha or spreading rumors again, I’ll settle all scores, old and new."
"Rest assured, President Wen, I won’t do it again."
He had been badly frightened by Wen Jin just now, and while he might not refrain forever, he truly didn’t dare to commit any wrongdoings again anyti soon.
Wen Jin stared at him for a few seconds, handed back the phone, "You can return to work now."
"Thank you, President Wen, thank you, President Qin. I’ll head back to work now."
Zhang Jinlei didn’t want to stay in this office a mont longer, even though it was air-conditioned, and his work area was dirty and exhausting. Yet, never before had he wanted so much to just return to work.
With Wen Jin’s permission, Zhang Jinlei almost fled the office.
Qin Mu glanced toward the doorway, then returned his gaze to Wen Jin, "Ah Jin, what do you plan to do?"
Since Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran were in the countryside, Qin Mu was accompanying Wen Jin to see Zhang Jinlei this morning.
Earlier, when Wen Ran had called Wen Jin, she ntioned they’d be back by late morning.
A hint of ruthlessness crossed Wen Jin’s icy eyes, "What Zheng Shirui did to Xiaocha, I’ll return to her tenfold."
"Do you really have sothing on Zheng Shirui?"
Qin Mu was slightly surprised, thinking it was just a bluff against Zheng Liangzhu.
"Of course I do, I never lie."
"What kind of leverage? Could it ruin Zheng Shirui’s reputation?" Qin Mu’s interest was piqued.
What exactly had Zheng Shirui done for Wen Jin to find leverage against her?
He was suddenly very intrigued.
Wen Jin sneered, "Once the scandal is out, even if Jin Zheyu is no longer against marrying her, Jin Yunchang will never agree to a union with Zheng Liangzhu."
"That serious?"
Qin Mu’s interest grew more intense, he sat up straight from his position on the couch, "Did Zheng Shirui cheat on Jin Zheyu with another man?"
"Correct, but not just with one man."
Qin Mu was shocked, "What kind of benefits is involved between Jin Yunchang and Zheng Liangzhu, for his son to marry such a woman?"
"I hadn’t thought about it before, but when Mo Xiuchen ntioned it, I found it unlikely. But to see Jin Zheyu willing to confront Xiaocha for Zheng Shirui, there clearly is so disgraceful secret between Jin Zheyu and Zheng Liangzhu."
"In that case, why not reveal Zheng Shirui’s scandal to Jin Zheyu and have him inform the dia?" Qin Mu’s mind could be ruthless as well.
Wen Jin raised an eyebrow, "I had the sa thought."
"Haha, then hurry up and call Jin Zheyu."
Let Zheng Shirui reap what she’s sown, and let Jin Zheyu realize what he’s done.
Wen Jin, without hesitation, took out his phone and dialed Jin Zheyu’s number. After a few rings, Jin Zheyu’s voice ca through.
"Did you read this morning’s paper?"
Wen Jin asked indifferently.
The voice on the other end seed surprised but quickly replied, "I saw it. It must be those reporters spreading rumors. Wen Jin, you can’t believe what’s written in the paper."
Wen Jin let out a cold sneer, his tone laced with sarcasm, "Let tell you, it wasn’t the reporters spreading rumors, it was your fiancée, Zheng Shirui."
