Chapter 29: 029 Found is
“Hmm, I know.”
There was a mont of silence at the end of the phone before MO Xiuchen’s voice ca through, subtly layered with an emotion that hadn’t been present in his previous words.
Wen Ran repeated her warnings a few tis, mainly telling MO Xiuchen to take good care of himself outside. To her, he is as near and dear as her brother. Hence, it all ca from pure heartfelt concern.
Sitting in the back row of the car, MO Xiuchen either answered with ‘hmm’, or an ‘okay’. His brows, usually sharp and intimidating, were softened for a change. The sight startled Qin Mu, who couldn’t believe that the usually cold and indifferent man could ever seem warm and approachable.
Seeing him hang up the phone, Qin Mu couldn’t resist but ask out of curiosity: “Xiuchen, you really don’t have to personally go to H City. Ah Feng can handle the drug issue. If it’s about Cheng Jia’s information, I can assure you that I’ll hand you the complete information…”
MO Xiuchen put away his phone, glanced at him, and nonchalantly replied: “No need, there are so things that I would rather look into myself.”
Qin Mu pouted and puzzledly said, “This I don’t understand. After all these years of relentless searching, isn’t the whole point to find the person who saved your life, and then repay in kind? Cheng Jia fits all the conditions, so why are you rushing to disqualify her?”
A faint chill appeared in MO Xiuchen’s deep, dark eyes. “My trip to H City isn’t solely for personal matters. Ah Feng may not be able to take care of the drug situation there. If Xiao Wenqing is so impulsive, how can I not indulge her?”
He has been waiting all these years just for Xiao Wenqing to make a move. Now that she is targeting G City’s drug factory, her intentions were clear as day…
A touch of coldness flickered in his eyes as he continued in a severe tone, “Keep a close watch on the Wen Family, especially Zhou Mingfu. There will undoubtedly be new developnts from his side.”
“Rest assured,” Qin Mu nodded, “Wen Ran won’t lose a single hair on my watch.”
MO Xiuchen gave a hum of approval. After a mont of thought, he added,
“Find sothing for MO Zixuan to do; Don’t let him be too idle.”
Since Xiao Wenqing wanted him to leave G City, and he did as she wished, he must reciprocate in so way.
Qin Mu’s mouth curled in a confident smile. “That’s easy. I guarantee that while you’re away, MO Zixuan won’t have a mont of leisure.”
For the next week, Wen Ran didn’t see MO Zixuan at all.
Zhou Mingfu, it seed, was too busy to bother Wen Ran again. anwhile,
Zhou Lin did request Wen Ran for a coffee date once, only to be turned down. Spending her days going between work, hospital, and ho, and occasionally speaking to MO Xiuchen on the phone, Wen Ran led a fairly fulfilling life.
One morning, as soon as Wen Ran returned to the office from the workshop, her phone rang.
It was a number she had saved previously, from the police station. She hesitated for a mont before answering, “Hello, Officer Li.”
“Miss Wen, I’m calling to inform you that we’ve found the strange man who was in the hotel parking lot on the day of the car accident. However, we found his corpse.”
Shocked, Wen Ran blurted out, “Corpse? How did that happen?”
The strange man from the hotel parking lot was the only lead, and he was responsible for tampering with her father’s car which subsequently led to the accident.
Originally, her brother had a car too, but Zhou Mingfu borrowed it at the last minute. Consequently, their entire family ended up using her father’s car…
A pallor swept across Wen Ran’s beautiful face.. She tightened her lips and then asked, “Are there no other clues?”
