Chapter 551: Don’t let go of 550
The parking lot was dim at this ti.
The distant horizon was tinted with an inky hue, and although the city’s streetlights were already lit, they did not illuminate the area where they stood. Wen Ran felt a faint pain in her heart. Peering into the man’s ink-black eyes in the dim light, she saw the depth in them.
It seed as though he wanted to completely draw her in.
Suddenly, she did not know how to respond. Not only had he seen through her thoughts, he had also hurt him. There was a subtle look of pain between his brows.
He made no deliberate display of it, but she could feel it vividly.
If possible, the person she least wanted to hurt was him. She loved him so much, her love was so deep that hearing about his past hardships would make her cry. But now, she was repeatedly hurting him!
To stay was to hurt him, to leave was also to hurt him.
Torn between these dilemmas, she felt she was on the verge of going mad.
For a mont, she just pursed her lips and remained silent.
Her silence felt like a sharp dagger piercing rcilessly into Mo Xiuchen’s heart. He blinked in pain, grabbed her shoulders with both hands, and looked at her deeply and firmly, murmuring deeply:
“Ranran, I know what you’re thinking about. Even though you’re here with , you’re hesitating in your heart. You’re thinking of leaving , aren’t you?”
Wen Ran’s body stiffened.
A misty moisture rose in her clear eyes as her lips remained subtly parted. She closed her eyelids, too scared to look at him.
These past few days, he had been keeping a close watch on her. Whether expressing his affection passionately or indirectly displaying his panic, he had never directly revealed her thoughts.
A breeze brushed past her ear, bringing the coolness of the night. It seed to have pierced right into her heart, giving her a sudden chill.
Mo Xiuchen’s voice continued. His deep magnetic voice was infused with intense pain and profound love. “Ranran,” he said, “no matter what you’re thinking, no matter whether you’re planning to leave every second, I’ll never let you go. I love you. Even if you only have a few years left, even if you’ll forget , even forget yourself in the end. I want you to stay by my side.”
Wen Ran’s body violently shook. The eyes she’d been holding down suddenly shot up. Her tearful eyes were as bright as starlight in the darkness. Her lips trembled as she said, “Xiuchen…”
A tumult of emotions churned in her heart. Even when they were discussing divorce days ago, Mo Xiuchen had avoided such admission.
The pain was not solely hers but also the agony that he dared not confront in the depths of his heart.
But now, he had actually spoken it out.
After treating her so carefully for so long, he had released all his wounds, plainly laying them out before them both. Despite the darkness, he noticed the pallor on her delicate face.
Ignoring the profound heartbreak, he forced her to face the problem between them, moreover, his affection. He wouldn’t allow her to ‘leave him in the na of love,’ to leave him behind.
He didn’t want to coerce her, but he had to.
He had to make her promise, oblige her to stay by his side.
Not far away, Gu Kai and his son Gu Yan were already in their car, silently watching the two standing in the dim light, quietly waiting.
“Ranran, I actually know everything.”
Mo Xiuchen explained in desperation amidst Wen Ran’s silence, his usually clear and gentle voice sounding particularly hoarse and sad.
On the way to the hospital, Wen Ran had agreed to Gu Yan’s proposal to go abroad together but insisted that Mo Xiuchen couldn’t accompany them. It had brought forth the panic he had been deliberately suppressing. When he had pleaded with her to let him co along, her silence again threw him into confusion and loss of self-control.
Since he had spoken, he might as well make it clear.
The color on Wen Ran’s face faded again, leaving her almost pale.
His statent ‘I know everything’ shocked her into wide-eyed terror. In her brain, there was a mont of blankness. After staring at him for a long ti, it seed as if her brain had finally received the ssage. She asked tremulously, “Xiuchen, what…what do you know?”
Mo Xiuchen took a deep breath. Wen Ran’s appearance made his heart ache, yet he had to tell her. He thought, perhaps this way she wouldn’t leave him anymore.
“I know why you don’t want to stay with , why you don’t want to be close to .”
Answering this seed to drain him of much energy.
The body beneath his gentle grasp shook violently. Her pupils dilated in shock. Emotions surged in her eyes. Her lips trembled, yet she could not utter a word.
She had had suspicions before and knew that with Mo Xiuchen’s intelligence, he would find out the reasons sooner or later. However, she didn’t expect him to find out so soon.
She had not even had the ti to ask Gu Kai whether Mo Xiuchen had found out anything, leading to his attempt at seduction in the middle of the night…
Suddenly breaking away from his grip, the only thought on her mind was to get away imdiately.
Now that he knew, she could no longer stay.
“Ranran!”
A pang shot through Mo Xiuchen’s heart. He reached out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her into his embrace. Suddenly, tears flowed from Wen Ran’s eyes. She struggled, chokingly implored, “Xiuchen, let go, let go!”
“I will not let go, I will never let go of you.”
Without further ado, Mo Xiuchen held her tight, his arms imprisoning her like iron clasps. His voice was undoubtedly firm. Not even the gods could tear them apart.
Unable to break free, Wen Ran sobbed in heartbreak.
Thin lips pressed together tightly, Mo Xiuchen opened the car door and motioned for her to get in. Unwillingly, she was forcefully pulled into the car. He closed the car door and held her tightly in his arms.
“Ranran, I can promise you that as long as you stay with , I will never touch you, never act as a husband should. I’ll be quietly accompanying you, just like before. I can be with you while you take your dicine, accompany you during your treatnt, until you are well. Is that alright?”
The interior of the car, in comparison to the outside, was confined and cramped.
Unlike when they were outside, Mo Xiuchen’s words didn’t quickly dissipate into the night air.
At this mont, his voice echoed within the small cabin—llow, magnetic, gentle, and affectionate. He spoke slowly, softly, yet his words were heavy with passion and tenderness, too dense to dissolve.
Those words echoed in Wen Ran’s ears; each one felt like a heavy hamr striking her heart. Each wave of ache in her heart made it painful to breathe.
The tears wouldn’t stop cascading down her face.
She didn’t want to cry, but she couldn’t help herself. She couldn’t control her sorrow.
A large hand gently caressed her cheek. Beside her ear, the man’s loving words continued, “Ranran, if these things were happening to , if I were the one who was sick, you wouldn’t leave either, would you?”
She bit her lip tightly, refusing to answer.
