Chapter 604: No one can guess his thoughts
Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran walked to the hotel entrance, just as Gu Yan was entering through the revolving door.
“Dad!”
Wen Ran saw Gu Yan first and called out to him. Mo Xiuchen, who always kept his eyes on Wen Ran, saw Gu Yan enter and asked with concern, “Dad, didn’t you get any rest last night?”
There was a faint tiredness between his brows, presumably he hadn’t returned to the hotel all night from the lab.
Gu Yan smiled, looking lovingly at Wen Ran, “I was afraid that Ranran would wake up as late as a few days before, so I thought I would co back and wake you up. I didn’t expect you to get up so early this morning.”
Wen Ran cheekily stuck out her tongue, “Dad, didn’t I wake up early today? The other days, I didn’t wake up that late, it was still before lunchti.”
“Haha, not late, it wasn’t dinner ti yet.”
As Gu Yan said this, his gaze subtly swept over Mo Xiuchen who was standing next to her. The latter remained calm, his eyes softly focused on Wen Ran.

The three of them arrived at the hospital ward together, a nurse was already waiting there.
As soon as they walked in, the nurse greeted them with a smile, saying gently, “Miss Wen, Dr. Brown has asked to accompany you for your check-up, shall we go?”
Wen Ran stared for a mont, looking sowhat surprised at Mo Xiuchen. Catching her gaze, Mo Xiuchen said calmly, “I will accompany Ranran.”
The nurse shook her head, “Your presence may affect Miss Wen’s emotions and, thus, the examination results.”
Hearing this, Wen Ran quickly told Mo Xiuchen, “Xiuchen, you wait here for . I will be fine with the nurse, you don’t need to co.”
After the nurse and Wen Ran left, Gu Yan said to Mo Xiuchen, “Xiuchen, you should get a check-up too.”
Mo Xiuchen’s gaze hadn’t yet left the hallway. Hearing Gu Yan’s words, his determined lips tensed slightly and the gentle affection in his eyes slowly faded, clouding over with a hint of worry.
The examination was the sa as last ti.
Wen Ran was accompanied by the nurse and gradually completed the tests. By the ti all the tests were done, two hours had passed.
Coming off the elevator back to the ward, the mont the elevator door opened, a tall figure a few steps away caught her eye: it was Mo Xiuchen.
On seeing her in the elevator, Mo Xiuchen imdiately ca over, took her hand and asked gently, “Ranran, are you done with your examination?”
Wen Ran nodded with a smile, “How long have you been waiting here?”
Mo Xiuchen curled his lips, gently smoothed a strand of her hair from her forehead, his voice was soft, magnetic, and very pleasant to hear, “I haven’t waited long. I estimated the ti and thought you would be returning soon, so I ca to pick you up.”
Back in the ward, she was still on fluids.
Leaning against the head of the bed, Wen Ran looked a bit languid and stared peacefully at Mo Xiuchen, who was sitting in front of her, “Last night I didn’t sleep as heavily as previous nights. And today, I woke up earlier than the other days.”
Mo Xiuchen was focused on peeling an apple. Hearing her words, he paused slightly, looked up and smiled at her, “Ranran, this is a good thing. You’re not as easily tired as when you first got here.”
“Is that so?”
Wen Ran blinked, thinking it didn’t seem that way.
Last night, she didn’t have that strange dream and even woke up once in the middle of the night. It was unusual.
“What else could it be?”
Mo Xiuchen’s words were teasing as he cut the peeled apple into small pieces and fed them to her with a toothpick.
Wen Ran ate the apple that he fed her. It was crisp, sweet, but a bit cold, the coolness, along with the sweet taste, crept into her heart.
“Xiuchen, no matter what the results are, can we go ho in a few days?”
He fed a small piece of apple into her mouth and said gently, “I’ve already contacted the wedding studio. Ranran, we will take our wedding pictures here before we return. I called Wen Jin and Ah Kai last night and told them about us planning the wedding ceremony.”
Just as he finished speaking, Wen Ran’s phone rang. The call was from Gu Kai.
“Hello, brother.”
Wen Ran said into the phone. When Gu Kai and Wen Jin were not together, she would directly call him ‘brother’. Sotis she would also call him ‘Older Brother Gu’.
But today, she suddenly didn’t want to add those two prefixes and just called him ‘brother’. The single word felt much more intimate. Gu Kai had been absent from her childhood and teenage years, but he was her biological brother. For over twenty years, he never gave up looking for her.
He had even personally prepared gifts for her every year. Every ti she thought of this, she felt very fortunate, very blessed. At this mont, the test results were not out yet, and she was uneasy, which changed the way she addressed him.
Across the Pacific, Gu Kai sensed her worry about the test results from Wen Ran’s ‘brother’ address. He felt a tightening in his heart, and raised a charming smile at the corners of his mouth, his voice coming pleasantly, “Ranran, I heard that you and Xiuchen are planning to have a wedding. Have you decided when you are coming back? And have you decided on a wedding the yet?”
After he finished asking, he looked at Wen Jin who was on the other side of the phone.
At this mont, he was sitting in Wen family’s living room, having had two bottles of beer and hearing lots of stories about Ranran’s childhood from Wen Jin.
Ever since he found out that Ranran was his sister, he often visited Wen Jin, inviting him for drinks, for als. Sotis Wen Jin ignored him and he would just visit directly, even having spent several nights there.
Luckily, they were both n; otherwise, it might have been mistaken that he was pursuing Wen Jin.
Back on the hospital bed, Wen Ran subconsciously looked at Mo Xiuchen. He was gazing at her intensely with a gentle smile on his lips, she whispered back, “We will return within a week at the latest. As for the the of the wedding, I will let you know when I decide.”
“Xiuchen also said the sa thing, that we should listen to you and not make any decisions on our own. Ranran, call when your flight is booked so Ah Jin and I can co to pick you up.”
“Okay, I know.”

After hanging up the call, Gu Kai, leaning on the couch with one hand rubbing his forehead, said to Wen Jin, “All set, I did as Xiuchen instructed.”
“What is Mo Xiuchen’s intention?”
Wen Jin slightly furrowed his brows. He could not comprehend the phone call from Mo Xiuchen. If soone were to tell him that Mo Xiuchen didn’t love Ranran and didn’t want to give her a wedding, he would not believe it even if he were killed.
But, if Mo Xiuchen did want to give Ranran a wedding, why wouldn’t he let them prepare? After thinking and thinking, the answer seed only one, Mo Xiuchen must have so psychological issues.
Gu Kai’s eyes flickered and he comnted dismissively, “He may be planning to surprise Ranran. Anyway, nobody has ever been able to figure out what’s in his mind.”
